Chapter 6

CHAPTER SIX

“Do you think she left a key for Mom and Dad too? Or just for us?”

“I honestly don’t know anything right now. I’m just shocked and have no idea what to think.”

They had driven back to the hotel from the bank in silence, and neither spoke again until they reached their room.

The letter hadn’t helped clear up the murkiness surrounding Keira’s, her husband’s, and their daughter’s deaths, but at least it was obvious her sister hadn’t regretted her choices.

That’s something of a comfort, isn’t it?

“We gotta find that guy again. The one in the suit. Sexy Lion Man. He would know.”

Against all odds, Imogen laughed. “Sexy Lion Man?”

“You saw him. That mane? That voice.” Jury blew out a breath that ruffled her hair. “I’d climb him all night long.”

“Jury!”

“What? Just because you’re a nun who hates sex doesn’t mean all of us are abstinent.”

“I’m not a nun who hates sex. Where do you even get some of the crap you say?”

“When’s the last time you got laid?”

Imogen glared at her. “Just because it’s been a while doesn’t make any of that true. I like sex. With the right person. In a committed relationship. What’s so wrong with that?”

“Okay, Miss No Fun for at least ten years.”

Her sister was scarily accurate with her estimation. It had been almost nine years since she’d caught her boyfriend cheating on her while she was supposed to be out on a fun night scuba expedition that got canceled due to weather.

“How is this relevant right now?”

“It’s not. But, hey, we’re millionaires now. Congratulations.”

They’d left the jewelry and gold locked in the safe deposit box for now, but they’d taken the checkbook.

“How crazy is this day?” Imogen said. “We need to move some of it into other accounts. A brokerage firm, I think. They’re the ones that deal with bigger money than banks. Although, honestly, I don’t even know.”

“Which brings me back to my original point. Do you think there’s something for Mom and Dad? Do we tell them about this and give them half? I just need answers. Which is why we need to find Sexy Lion Guy. Let’s go back to the tattoo shop. If Tattoo Guy’s not there, then we try the house again.”

“Jury … I don’t think that’s a good idea. He wasn’t the one with the key.”

“But he led us to him. And clearly, they’re friends. Or something.”

“And they already helped us.” She waved the checkbook back and forth.

“Then we should thank them,” Jury said, excitement lighting up her brown eyes. “Plus, I still want that tattoo. Maybe a different design though … a diamond? I mean, come on. Way to go, Keira.”

She slow clapped, and even though the whole situation seemed bonkers, Imogen was grateful they weren’t both drowning in grief anymore.

Thanks, Keira.

But still, she’d give it all back to have another chance at being a better sister.

Then she looked at Jury. Wait a minute. I do have another chance. And I’m not going to waste this one.

“Okay, Jur. We’ll go get tattoos.”
