Epilogue
Sophie tucked herself under Liam’s arm, pressing close, letting the warmth of him seep into her. They had only been engaged for a day, but what a wonderful day it had been.
“Did you think anyone would be more excited than us about the engagement?” she mused. “I thought Aunt Nan and Sylvia were going to smother us to death.”
Liam’s chest rumbled with a chuckle. “They were thrilled. I was just relieved your father didn’t throttle me.”
She tipped her head to look at him. “Why would he?”
“Because I didn’t ask his permission before proposing.”
Sophie rolled her eyes with a smile and patted his chest. “My parents always liked you.”
Liam squeezed her tight. “It was a grand party, Soph. Everyone’s so proud of you and Keefe.”
“It really was, wasn’t it? I was worried about that meat mix-up, but Keefe really pulled off an amazing dinner.”
“He did. And it was nice of you to invite the construction crew and their families.”
“Of course! The place wouldn’t be up and running without them. They were the guests of honor as far as I was concerned.”
Liam hesitated for a moment, then said, “I was a little surprised Darcie’s sister wasn’t there, though.”
Sophie frowned. “Who?”
“You haven’t met her yet? Makes sense. I’ve only met her once myself at Cian’s, that one time. She lives in Dublin, I think.”
Sophie sat up abruptly, her heart plummeting to her stomach. “I don’t understand. When you say Darcie’s sister…”
Liam looked at her, puzzled. “Cian’s other daughter, Gwen.”
The blood drained from Sophie’s face.
“You mean… you didn’t know?”
