Reuben

I sat at my desk, daydreaming. I’d been doing that a lot since two days ago, when Cristiana allowed me to use erotic hypnotism on her. It had long been something I’d been very interested in. From the moment I was introduced to it, I was intrigued and sought out experts to learn what it could do.

My past partners had really enjoyed it, and I got enjoyment from it as well. But none of them had elicited the response that Cristiana did. I was insane to have her by the time it ended. I’d never been that aroused by it in the past. The rough, almost animalistic way I took her was fantastic.

Afterward, I became concerned that I was being too rough with her. However, when I asked her if I was, she gave me the most blissful look and adamantly said, “No.” In fact, she said she’d permit me to do that again any time I wanted. God, she was the perfect woman for me.

My daydreaming was cut short by the loud knock on my office door. I was at Lustz. I was supposed to be working on paperwork. The interruption was expected. I just lost track of the time.

“Come in,” I called out.

When the door opened, Mikhail strolled, and right behind him was Hoss.

That was no surprise. What was a surprise was the next one entering.

Matvey walked in, accompanied by Nikita.

I stood and went to greet them with handshakes.

Once that was done, I gestured to them to sit.

Everyone took a seat. I remained standing.

“Thanks for coming. Matvey, I want to say a double thank you to you. I didn’t expect you to come. I know how busy you are.”

“I wouldn’t miss it. Anything concerning my cousin or his friends and loved ones is a priority for me. Additionally, I hope you consider me a friend as well. Victoria and I think of you as such.”

“I’m humbled to be in that group. And I do consider you a friend,” I replied.

“Hey, what about us? We’re busy too,” Mikhail asked. His grin told me he was messing with me.

I shrugged. “Why do you lie, Mikhail? You know you sit on your ass eating bonbons and watching game shows all the time. Tajah begged me to get you out of her hair. And Hoss, I’m sorry, but Cady wanted time alone to let her inner brat out without interference. Plus, they paid me to do it,” I joke.

My teasing made all three guys laugh. I even got a small smile from Nikita. I counted that as a win. Matvey’s bodyguards were so professional and stoic. As they sobered, I got to the reason for this little conclave.

“I wanted to go over what has been discovered about Fisher Adams. I know Iker couldn’t make it because he’s out of town on business, but he said he gave you his update, Mikhail, since Hoss was unavailable earlier. Why don’t we start with you?”

“Gladly, and yes, Iker did. He’s bummed that he couldn’t be here. He wanted me to tell you that when the time comes to deal with that bastard, Adams, he’ll be there no matter what,” Mikhail stated as his opener.

“And I appreciate it. What did Iker’s team and Outlaw discover? Please tell me we know where the fucker is, or at least have a good lead.”

I stood leaning against the end of my desk closest to where they were seated. I was trying not to clench my fists and jaw. Both had been aching lately. My heart jumped when Mikhail slowly nodded.

“There has been progress. And as of an hour ago, Outlaw believes he has a lead on where the asshole is holed up. First, though, let me say that Fisher Adams is an obnoxious prick. You know he lives in Fisherton, Tennessee. It’s no coincidence that his first name matches part of the community’s name.

A Fisher family settled that area in the mid-1800s.

It so happens that Adams’s mom was a descendant of that family.

As a result of that connection, his parents gave him his mother’s surname as his first.

“He grew up comfortably well-off and was known to brag and lord it over others. He was popular, but I think it was more that people pretended to be his friends because they didn’t want him turning on them. Those whom he did target were mercilessly tormented.

“That behavior continued into adulthood. And his interactions and relationships with women were frequently discussed in public. He was often seen with a different woman on his arm. If he had a woman as his girlfriend, which was seldom, the relationship would end within a few months at most. As far as the guys can find, he never truly wanted one permanently. And his kinks and how he treated those women were whispered about. However, as far as they can determine, Adams has never stalked anyone other than Cristiana.” Mikhail paused after filling us in on that background.

It wasn’t what I needed to hear, but it did help set up precedent, as Carver would call it.

The fact that they couldn’t find evidence that he had fixated on someone the way he had on Cristiana was beyond concerning.

It meant she got to him in a way that was unlikely to be broken or erased.

His obsession would continue to grow if not handled.

“So he’s for sure not able to shake his fixation on Cristiana. I know they told you more. Don’t keep us in suspense. Reuben looks ready to jump out the window or wreck this room,” Hoss said.

“I will. The lead Outlaw got is actually not far from where Adams lives in Fisherton. It appears that his mother’s family had other holdings adjacent to the original land owned by the first family.

It was bought by a second cousin of his mom’s.

It’s a twenty-five-acre place in the middle of the country.

What Outlaw found interesting is that there is an old home on the property that isn’t occupied, even though the owner keeps the electricity turned on there at all times.

It’s used occasionally by friends and others as a place to escape and relax, fish, or even hunt.

Outlaw checked into the electricity usage for it.

About three weeks ago, right after Cristiana’s trip out the window, the electricity at the house started being used and has continued.

Outlaw believes it should be investigated. ”

Eagerness filled me. Finally, something to do.

Even if it turned out to be a dead end, at least it was something.

I wanted Adams out of Cristiana’s life. She was scared, though she hid it well.

I wanted her to be able to relax and build our life together.

I meant what I told her family. When the time was right, I would ask her to marry me.

The only thing holding me back was Adams. To make my proposal perfect, the shadow of him had to be gone for good.

“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s pay this place a visit. See who is living there,” I stated.

“We will, but we can’t drive up and knock on the door and ask to come in. If it is Fisher Adams, he’ll run or do God knows what. We have to be stealthy about it. You know that,” Mikhail reminded me.

He was right, and in other circumstances, I would’ve been one to voice what he just did. But when it was this personal, you forgot those things. Gritting my teeth, I bit out tersely.

“Okay, then, when and how? I don’t think I can wait long, Mikhail,” I warned him even though he knew.

“Tomorrow night. We’ll visit this house.

It’ll be late, after midnight. The question is.

Who goes? You know all of your friends would love to be there for this, but it’s not doable.

I’ll stay behind and cover you here at Lustz.

If anyone asks, I’ll say you’re feeling under the weather,” Mikhail offered.

“If you wouldn’t mind a suggestion, I believe that you shouldn’t leave a mess there, if it happens to be this Adams guy.

I’ll send a couple of my soldaty, soldiers with you.

They’ll help capture him if he’s there and then bring him to a secure location, allowing you to show him the error of his ways in targeting Cristiana.

You can have all the time you need. How does that sound? ” Matvey asked.

“I would love that, Matvey. Thank you. I know Iker and both of you want to be there. How about letting me and Matvey’s guys check it out, and if it’s Adams, we’ll take him to the secondary location, and you can join us there?” I asked.

Hoss and Mikhail immediately nodded. The smiles on their faces hinted at what they’d like to do to Adams. But as Cristiana’s man, it was my right to handle him any way I saw fit.

“Okay, let’s do it. Matvey, let me know when I can meet with your men and coordinate tomorrow night’s adventure.” I told him.

“I’ll have them meet you tomorrow. What time and where would you like them to do it?”

I thought for a moment, then answered. “My flat and I’d like it to be early afternoon so that I can get some sleep after work tonight. How does two o’clock sound?”

“It sounds wonderful. They’ll be there.”

With that decided, we spent a few minutes discussing various topics. It was a way to unwind a bit after such a charged discussion. When they left, I was amped up. I prayed that Outlaw was right about Adams being there.
