Glossary

There are many Scottish and French phrases in Ruari and Alix's story. I've already included a translation in the book where necessary so there is no need to include here. But for the sake of the story and the characters I thought it might be helpful to include a couple of translations here.

RUARI is pronounced -- Rory. The spelling in the book is an older Scottish version.

ALIX is a derivative of Alexandra (or Alexander), a name prominent in my Scottish family. For the sake of the story it is pronounced -- Alise.

ROBERT DE brUS -- probably no explanation necessary. Yes, the ancestor of the man we know as Robert the Bruce, closely aligned with Clan Fraser, and a future king.

CU LODAIN is real. Today we know it as Culloden where a horrific battle was fought against the English and the Clan system broken, or so the English thought!

Other names are pronounced much the same as they are now.
