Chapter Twenty-Two
Rex
L eaving Dre and Immy is the last thing I want to do now that we’re back home, but I know I need to.
I need to see if Seth has gotten anywhere with finding this fucker.
God, I fucking hope so. I want all this dealt with and put behind us.
I don’t feel like I can fully focus on what I’m starting with Dre until then.
Which fucking sucks. I want all my focus to be on him and his adorable daughter. Not this shitstain on society.
Entering Seth’s office is like walking into another world.
There are so many monitors and computer towers in here.
Like, no joke, every available surface is covered.
Sometimes I can’t help but wonder why he needs so many, but he’s adamant they’re all one hundred percent necessary.
I wouldn’t really know if that’s true or not; the things he does on them are like a foreign language to me.
He’s tried to explain it all multiple times, but it goes straight over my head.
I’ve given up trying to understand. I’ll leave all the computer shit to the expert and accept what he says is the truth.
I find Seth just the way I expected, typing away at a crazy speed on one of his many keyboards before wheeling over to the next station he has set up to do the same thing there.
He’s clearly working hard at finding our rat.
He’s so lost in his work he hasn’t even realized that I’m here yet.
That’s the thing about being in our home; he knows he can lose himself in what he’s doing and be totally safe.
He knows we have his back one hundred percent, and we’d never leave him in a vulnerable position.
He’d never work like this anywhere else but here.
“Seth.” I say loudly, hoping to grab his attention.
I know it’s a long shot. Normally when he’s like this, it takes a lot more than saying his name to get his attention.
Not that I can really fault him for that.
He’s always fully focused on the task at hand whenever it happens. Just the way it should be.
I repeat his name a few more times before I manage to catch his attention.
I’ll take it as a win because I didn’t have to physically shake him out of his zone.
It’s never a fun time when we have to do that.
Seth’s first reaction is always to attack first and ask questions later.
We’ve all ended up with many an injury when trying to get Seth’s attention, that’s for sure.
“Give me a sec.” He replies, eyes never leaving his screen and fingers still flying.
Doing as he asks, I wait. Leaning back against the door and watching him work his magic.
There’s no other way to describe it. The things my brother can do on a computer are nothing short of magic.
He’s fucking talented as hell. I could never in a million years do what he does.
Saying that, there are very few people on the planet who can do what he can.
“Yes! You fucker! I’ve got you!” He shouts, breaking the silence in the room.
“Please tell me that what you have is a name.” I say as I push off the door and head towards the station Seth is currently at.
“Did you really doubt me?” He says as he spins on his chair to face me. “Of course I have the name. It took some digging, but I know who’s been betraying us. I am one hundred and ten percent certain too. There’s no mistaking what they’ve been doing right under our fucking noses.”
“Who the fuck is it? And by under our noses, do you mean they work out of the facility here?”
“Yeah, they’re here. It’s Richard, and he’s been a really bad fucking boy from what I’ve been uncovering. I’m leaving my shit running so I don’t miss anything. We need to know everything he’s done. By the time I’m finished taking a microscope to his ass, there will be nothing I don’t fucking know.”
“Good. I want to reverse all the damage he’s caused. Where are Austin and Micah? I already know what Jake and Flash are up to, as I saw them when we got home.”
“Last I knew Austin was somewhere in the house, and Micah’s not here. He’s staying with Cam tonight.”
“That’s good; we don’t need to worry about his safety while we deal with all this.
Can you get the others here? It’s time to go and capture a rat.
I’m not taking any chances. I’m going to have Flash watch over Dre and Immy while we go and deal with this fucker.
He’s not walking out of The Holding Facility ever again. His life of freedom is over.”
“You got it. Go grab all our gear. I’ll fill the others in when they get here. I’ll explain the house’s lockdown system to Flash too. We can activate it the minute we leave. It will add an extra layer of protection for Dre and Immy.”
“I like that plan. Let’s get this show on the road. We have a traitor to lock up.”
Spinning on my heels, I rush out of Seth’s office and across the house towards the room that holds all our gear.
With the work we do, we understandably have a lot of weapons and armor.
We actually have that fucking much between us all; we ended up just building a room to store it all.
It made sense. Otherwise, it was just taking up space in each of our wings that could be used for something else.
It’s actually why the room Immy is now in was empty.
It used to be where I stored all my stuff.
It doesn’t take me long to grab all of our gear.
We each have different bags set up for different scenarios.
So all I need to do is grab each one and head back towards Seth’s office.
Maybe it’s time we just call it what it is, his goddamn computer lab.
Re-entering the room, I’m greeted with a sight that makes me smile.
Not only is Seth now joined by Austin, Jake, and Flash, but Dre is here too with Immy.
Even with everything that’s happening right now, I can’t help but be happy at the sight of them.
“Hey, sweetness.” I say as I approach Dre and drop a kiss on his head.
“Hey handsome. I hear you’re about to go and catch yourselves a rat.”
“That we are. You’ll be safe in the house while we’re gone. We’re going to lock it down so no one except those of us with the codes can get back inside. I’m not taking any chances when it comes to yours and Immy’s safety. We never know what someone will do when they’re cornered.”
“Thank you for that, but I trust you, Rex. I know you’d never leave us vulnerable. That’s just not who you are. Now get ready and go get this piece of crap. Make sure you come back to me in one piece and preferably uninjured.”
“Always. I will always come back to you, Dre. I’ll do my best to not get hurt too. I don’t foresee that happening though, not with my brothers with me and Richard being the target. You have nothing to worry about.”
“I’ll always worry about you, Rex. What you do is dangerous but necessary.” He says, heartfeltly.
Taking a step away from Dre, I head towards my brothers to hand them their gear bags.
It’s time to end this fucker’s continuous betrayal of The Khaos Group once and for all.
Then the fun will begin, because Anarchy and Phantom won’t just be coming to bring Beau and Annmarie.
No, we have a plan to inflict some serious fucking pain.
Maybe I should offer every person in The Khaos Group to get their own shots in.
Nobody is going to be happy when they learn about what Richard has been doing behind our backs for all this time.
They’re all going to want a piece of him.
Make no mistakes. I plan on informing everyone what he’s done and making an example out of him. Nobody will ever think of betraying us again after they learn the hell we’re going to inflict on Richard.
