Chapter 40 Darius

Darius

Ihaven’t let go off her since she fell asleep in my arms three hours ago. She thinks I was distracted by her lips and body that I didn’t notice she still hadn’t said a word to me.

I’ve managed to get to Elsa when she woke for a bottle before it disturbed Amelia. She doesn’t sleep peacefully, and I wish I could see what she dreams about.

Being with her again is what I imagine paradise to be like. My hands on every inch of her body, her lips on mine, being inside her, it was everything I’ve been waiting for and everything I need in order to be who I’m meant to be.

The sun rises and sneaks through the window, warm on my arm. I wish we could lie here like this forever.

Her damn alarm blasts off at seven and she jumps up so fast, I think she’s about to fall off the bed. Gripping the sheets so tight her knuckles turn white, her chest heaves with panic.

“Hey, it’s okay. You’re home, you’re safe.”

I kiss her shoulder, and it seems to help her calm down.

“You should go.”

Huh?

“I’m good right where I am.”

She shrugs me off and gets out of bed, not caring that she’s as naked as the day she was born. Before, she’d always keep a sheet around her and dress awkwardly. It’s only one of many changes I’m seeing in her.

Sitting up, I watch her open drawer after drawer, pulling out clothes for the day.

“Last night…”

Holding her hand up, she cuts me off.

“Last night was my goodbye. You can have ten minutes with Elsa and then I want you to leave and never come back.”

I’m out of bed and in my jeans before I can speak a word.

“What the fuck, Amelia?”

“They don’t call prison Hell for nothing! I will never risk going back there and I will not risk my daughter’s future just because you want to run around the streets like a thug.”

“That’s why you’re pushing me away?”

“I have to.”

She’s in survival mode, I see it clear as day. Moving closer to her, I move around her so she can’t leave the room.

“No, you don’t. While you were bathing Elsa last night, I accepted your dad’s offer to work at the publishing house. I start on Monday.”

She stumbles back onto the bed, her brows pinching together and confusion dancing in her eyes.

“You did?”

“From the day you were sentenced, I’ve been planning my out. The only reason I’ve stayed this long is so I had sway to get you protected on the inside.”

She’s so worn down, I’m not sure how long she’ll give me to fight for her. I crouch before her and collect her hands in mine.

“I never wanted you living in my world, and I didn’t think I could live in yours. But I was wrong. As long as I’m with you, I’m good anywhere.”

“You’d give it all up?”

“And more,” I tell her truthfully. “I should’ve given it up when I found out you were pregnant.” Kissing her knuckles, I dare to look up into her eyes, hoping I see my girl staring back. The way she used to look at me.

“I love you, Amelia, I need you. You and Elsa are everything to me. Everything.”

“You said…”

“All the shit I said up till the letters, forget. I have been waiting for you to come home to make it right. I can and will be the man you deserve.”

“You said a lot to me before you first sent me away, why would I trust you this time? I lost nearly two years of my life because I met you.”

Losing my shit, I yell, “You think I don’t know that?

You don’t think I’ve not beat myself up every day that you were gone?

Don’t tell me about what you’ve lost, I’ve fucking felt it right along with you.

Every time I had to look at our daughter and see you in her eyes and know that she wasn’t with you because of my world…

my old world. The only thing I should’ve done differently was keep you so close nothing could’ve touched you.

I’m not going to let anything touch you again. I fucking swear it.”

Her tears fall freely, and I cross the room to her, wrapping her tightly in my arms.

“I’m not going to let you down again, you’ve gotta believe me. I’m all in, for you, all you. No one owns me the way you do. What do you need me to do to prove it to you, what have I gotta do for you to believe I love you?”

She pulls away from me and stares so hard I feel her seeping into my soul. Deeper than she already is.

“You’ve never told me that before.”

Sweeping my thumb over her tear tracks, I say, “I’ve never told anyone that before. You’re the only one I’ve fallen for and you’re the only one I’ll ever feel this way about. I love you, Amelia, and I will for the rest of my life.”

“You were right, we couldn’t work because we’re from two different worlds…”

“There’s only one world now, our world. I’m not going anywhere, you’re mine and I’m completely yours. Trust it. Trust me. Give me time to prove myself.”

She closes her eyes for a moment before settling back on me.

“I wrote you those letters so you would think we were all good, and then I planned to take Elsa from you. I wanted you to feel everything I did and worse. You still think you love me?”

It didn’t cross my mind that was what she was up to, but it makes sense now.

“It gave you something to focus on, ay. I don’t blame you. I think you did what you needed to do to get by. It doesn’t change how I feel about you. We need to put everything behind us and live how we want to.”

“I…” Her brows knit together but I need her to be clear on this.

“I’ve fucked up when it comes to you, I’ve pushed you away, I’ve done everything wrong, but not anymore.

” Sliding my hand into her hair, I grip hard and make sure she’s listening.

“I’m going to work your father’s job. I’ll provide everything you and Elsa will need, I’ll look after my family and live in your world. Give me a chance.”

I didn’t plan on him flipping every plan I’ve made upside down.

“I’ve loved you for so long, and I hated it. I’m done hating everything.”

“Yeah? So we’re doing this?”

Every second it takes her to answer, my fear I’ll lose her forever grows.

“Yeah, as long as you keep your word.”

Leaning in, I press my mouth to hers and claim what I should’ve a long time ago. Standing, I pull her up with me and lift her in my arms.

“Since us together last night wasn’t real to you, I’m about to make it real real for you.”

Lying her down on the bed, I hover above her and she whispers, “It was real for me, it’s always been real when I’m with you.”

That’s the shit I need to hear. We’re real, everything we have has been real and moving forward, there’ll be nothing between us to break us or come between us again.

It takes me no time to discard my jeans. I’m already hard for her and as I kiss my way up her inner thigh, her back arches and she grabs onto the sheets.

“I’ve missed this so much,” she purrs.

Tracing my tongue up her stomach, I cup her breast and tell her, “I’m not going anywhere… you’ve got me.”

I didn’t see them last night, but the thin silver lines on her breasts and lower stomach are the reminders she carried my kid. It makes me harder, she’s permanently marked as mine.

“You’re all I need…” I thrust into her, telling her, “I love you.”

I take my time, kissing her, swallowing her every moan, and making sure she takes every inch of me.

“You’re mine, Amelia,” I grunt, and I lose my mind.

“Yes.”

Another deep thrust, I grind out, “Tell me I’m yours, Amelia.”

Her nails dig into my back, and I clamp my teeth down on her shoulder.

“I’m yours,” she moans.

It’s not enough.

“I’m gonna come,” she groans, and my balls tighten.

“Tell me you belong to me,” I order, fastening my pace.

“Yes… yes, oh God, yes, I belong to you… only you!” she cries out, clenching her tight pussy around me.

Driving in harder, faster, she trembles underneath me and my dick throbs as I pour my load into her.

Burying my face into her neck, our scattered breaths are the only sounds to be heard. Staying on top of her, I press my lips to hers.

I always imagined one day I’d find the one and that’d be that. The fact I’ve already found her is more than I deserve. I promised her my old life is dead and behind me, for this girl, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do.
