Chapter Eleven #2

“Wow.” I couldn’t stop a quiet gasp. “That’s a mantra if ever I heard one.”

“I think you’ve earned the right to use it too.”

I settled my hands on his shoulders and cocked my head. “You think I’ve done hard well?”

“Hell, yeah, I do. Don’t you?” he asked.

I shrugged. “I guess I’ve just done what I needed to do.”

“Yeah, but you’ve done it with grace and dignity, and with a broken heart. You’ve cultivated friendships, kept your family together, and still found a way to forgive me. Doing hard well is an understatement when it comes to you.”

I cupped his face and covered his mouth with mine, the only response I could think of that could remotely come close to relaying my appreciation for his words.

He smiled against my lips. “That worked for you, huh?”

“I need you naked,” I hissed. “Right now.”

“We’re supposed to be packing you a bag.”

“And we will do that,” I said, climbing off his lap. “After you fuck me.”

“Don’t have to tell me twice,” he retorted, standing and following me back to my bedroom.

I’d never undressed faster in my life and then I was on him like government money on a bad idea.

“Wait, baby,” Rooster panted out.

“Oh, no, I’m not fallin’ for that ol’ chestnut.”

“No, I’m not stopping this, but I want to make sure you’re okay. You just had a traumatic experience.”

“And I’ll revisit that after you make me forget it for a minute.”

He frowned. “Ah, I think I need to be clear, this is gonna take a hell of a lot longer than a minute.”

“I’m counting on it,” I said as I slid his cut off his shoulders. “I’m also counting on you doing hard well.”

He stripped and then kissed me gently, guiding me to the edge of my bed where he dragged the bedding down and pushed me onto the mattress.

“Spread, Katie,” he growled.

I opened my legs and nearly came as I did. Lordy, I felt like it was my first time all over again.

Rooster flattened his palm between my breasts, sliding it down, gently over my belly then dipping it between my legs.

My hips lifted of their own accord as his fingers slipped inside of me and swept the walls of my vagina, then his thumb pressed against my clit, and I lost my mind a little.

I mewed as he worked my body into a frenzy, his mouth covering mine, and his free hand moving to one of my breasts, his thumb sweeping my nipple.

Fuuuuck!

I whimpered with need as he lifted my breast, his lips moving to my nipple and pulling it into his mouth.

I couldn’t stop a moan as he worked my nipple with his tongue and I nearly came again.

Trying not to come was getting harder and harder and then he hovered above me, kissing me as his cock pressed against my entrance.

His hands gripped my hips, and rather than sliding in slowly, he buried himself to the hilt making me come almost immediately.

I cried out as my body exploded into spasms, but Rooster didn’t slow down, didn’t rest, didn’t stop. He kept thrusting, fucking me into another orgasm, making me forget about my earlier trauma, replacing it with the memory of him, and he kept going until I felt his cock pulse inside of me.

With one last kiss, he rolled us so we were facing each other, but his weight was off of me, and he dragged the covers over us to ward off the chill.

As we lay on the bed trying to catch our breath, I grinned. “Thank you for your service.”

Rooster chuckled. “Always willing to oblige, baby.”

I rolled onto my side, sliding my arm over his belly and kissed his chest. “We’re not going to get to the courthouse on Monday, are we?”

“No,” he said. “But the second we’re out of lockdown, we’ll go.”

I sighed. “I hate this.”

“Same.” He kissed my temple. “We can get you a ring now, though.”

“What?” I squeaked.

“We can head down to that jeweler Hatch mentioned and pick out whatever you want. Show the world it’s permanent.”

Before I could answer, Rooster’s phone rang, and he snagged it off the nightstand.

“It’s Hatch.”

I rolled my eyes. “Impeccable timing.”

“Hey, brother.” Rooster ran his finger over my hip as he nodded. “Yeah, she’s packing right now.”

I raised an eyebrow and mouthed, ‘Liar!’

“I’m not sure, hold on.” He cocked his head. “You wanna stay at the new place or Hatch’s?”

I bit my lip. “New place, I think. More privacy.”

“How will there be more privacy?” he challenged.

“More people means more chances to sneak away. I love being with Hatch and Maisie, but if we’re in their home, I’d feel like I’d need to engage more, which is fine, but if we find we want to be alone at the club, I won’t feel rude.”

He grinned and gave me a nod, returning to the call. “Hey, Hatch. We’re gonna head out to the compound. Yeah. Thanks. No, not long. Think we can stop by that jeweler you mentioned first?”

“Rooster!” I hissed.

“Understood. We’ll be quick. Yeah. Got it. Okay. See you after dinner. Right. Bye.” He hung up and dropped his phone on the nightstand again. “If we’re gonna hit Rondan’s, we need to be quick. We didn’t get to do it before and I don’t want to wait anymore.”

“What?” I scrambled off the bed. “We don’t have time to go to Rondan’s!”

Rondan’s was our go-to jeweler for every occasion. Birthdays, engagements, I’m sorrys, and congratulations. He had everything your heart desired and if he didn’t have it at the ready, he’d make it happen.

“We won’t if you don’t pack a bag right now,” he said matter-of-factly.

“Gah! You drive me nuts,” I complained, grabbing a bag from my closet and throwing clothes haphazardly into it.

Rooster laughed as he strolled into my bathroom, cleaning up then pulling his clothes back on. I was still buck-naked as I packed and he calmly stripped my bed, throwing a load of laundry in my washer.

“Did you just start the washer?” I demanded.

“Ah, yeah? You need me to throw something else in?”

“How do we have time to run a wash cycle, Rooster?”

“Baby, by the time you get your gorgeous ass in gear and finish packing, clean up a little, get dressed, and I make your bed, the load’ll be done.

I’ll swap it so it can dry so it won’t stink and be done waitin’ for you when this shit is over.

I figure we’ll also start your dishwasher so dishes don’t stink up the place, and you can rest easy knowin’ you’ll come home to a somewhat clean home.

We can take a little while to do that, right? ”

“Okay, note to present and future you, when I’m stressing out about time, I’d rather you not be perfect and sweet, got it?”

“Got it.” He grinned. “Need me to do anything for you right now, or should I go ahead and start the dishwasher?”

“Go ahead and start the dishwasher,” I grumbled.

“When I’m done with that, point me in the direction of the clean sheets and I’ll make the bed,” he said before walking out of the room.

He was right in the fact that by the time I’d finished doing everything I’d needed to do, the laundry was ready to be switched, and we were out the door.

“I don’t want to hear it,” I warned.

“Hear what?” he asked, pulling out of my driveway.

“I told you so.”

“I am not, and have never been, that stupid.”

I narrowed my eyes. “Oh, I don’t know about that.”

He laughed and grabbed my hand, lifting it to his lips. “Love you, baby.”

“Love you too.”
