Chapter 49
FORTY-NINE
“You still taste like icing even after two showers,” I tease that evening. “Or maybe it’s just all that sweetness coming to the surface.”
Justice picks me up, towel and all, and carries me to the bed, which is one of the wonders of the world.
It’s a gigantic expanse covered in velvet and fur, under the dome of a cave roof that makes the scientist in me stare in awe.
“Damn, Beast. He ground that stuff into every pore on my face,” Justice mutters.
He’s still talking about the cupcake attack, as it will forever be known.
“It was awesome,” I say with a warm laugh. “But the proposal…that was the real icing on the cake.”
He spreads me out on the covers with the utmost care. Kissing my neck before he pulls back. “Thank you for saying yes.”
I stare at him. “Are you serious? I can’t go back to the boring life I had before, not once I’ve been Justified.”
He grins.
“Justicized? Or maybe it’s Justifornicated?” I tease.
He traces the pad of his thumb over my bottom lip, dark gaze lingering before he flicks his gaze back to mine. And that’s where it stays locked as he says, “You’ve been claimed, that’s what happened.”
I’m not going to lie. That word—claimed—lights my fuse.
“Yes, I have,” I whisper, happiness tingly and sharp in my throat.
He silences any and all conversation with a kiss that’s one-hundred percent business.
It’s deep. Hungry. With his hips dropping onto me, giving me enough of his delicious weight to make me gasp.
The play is over.
No more joking. Especially when he jerks the towel open, growling as he palms my breast roughly.
“There are those beautiful nipples, my next dessert.” He licks his lips, hotly.
Oh…my…lord.
The speed my body heats defies science.
Not that I wasn’t already hot from all the slippery skin against mine in the shower.
Whew. The man’s magnetic field excites all of my electrons.
All of the time.
This is what the next two weeks are like. Fourteen days of magic.
Between hanging out with his team, catching up on all the details of their mission, which included us finding out that Westerly was up to no good as we suspected.
The man wants the soil because he’s going to use it to make a new drug that could be worth billions.
The one question that’s unanswered—why he raised Allison, when he clearly didn’t love her or have a familial tie.
But with Justice and his team on the hunt for that information, I’m sure they will find out.
When we’re not with the team, our favorite activity is swimming in the underground pool. Oh, and we take hikes in the woods picking up leaves and geodes, and generally being madly in love.
The private chef who his team employees makes sure we all eat like royalty. Three catered meals a day plus lavish midnight breakfasts for anyone who wants to hang out and socialize.
Getting to know Liberty is awesome. Even if Justice spends an obscene amount of energy heading off any and all questions she has about Spence.
When he’s not keeping Spence busy doing anything but talking to his sister.
Which is hilarious.
And as you might suspect, Justice and I spend an insane amount of time in the gigantic bed.
Until we wake up one morning and it’s board a plane for Costa Rica with all of his crew… my crew now.
Wow.
It’s beautiful chaos with lots of bad jokes.
This time Justice and I get the bedroom on the plane.
It’s even decorated for us with condoms blown up like balloons, and someone stocked it with champagne and cupcake icing.
Hello, Mile High Club!
But the big surprise comes when we land in Costa Rica and Justice takes me dress shopping.
Wedding dress shopping.
