Epilogue
Izzy
“You know…” Shayna’s voice breaks the silence of the dark room. “I never thought it would happen. You and me finding our happy endings.”
I didn’t either.
Through all those nights when I was a lost and scared little girl, I didn’t think I’d ever find normal.
I’d lost hope on the idea of finding a family.
I definitely never thought I could achieve something this amazing.
But now…here in this clubhouse full of growly men, I’ve found my home.
I’ve found more than a family. And tomorrow, I’m going to marry the love of my life.
“And now, we really will be sisters.” I smile, turning to face her. “Thanks for always looking out for me, Shay.”
“Thank you for always bailing me out of trouble.”
I laugh thinking about all the mischief she caused. I tried to take the blame for her so she wouldn’t get into trouble, but they rarely believed I was the instigator. Shayna’s rap sheet was long, and I was known for being a people pleaser.
“I’ll always be here for you.” I hug her close.
“Me too, Izz.” She snuggles in closer. “Are you nervous about tomorrow?”
“No. I can’t wait. This is what I always wanted.
” I went to school to get my degree, but I always wanted to get married and start a family.
Given that Rogue is thirty-six, he’s anxious to have kids right away.
He wants to be young enough to chase them around, and he already told me that if I want to stay at home with our kids, he’d more than love that. But the choice is mine.
“I’m so happy for you. And for us.” She grins wider.
“Knock, knock.”
Rogue’s gruff voice has me smiling. I knew he wouldn’t be able to stay away.
“You’re not supposed to see the bride the night before your wedding.” Shayna sits up on the bed, glaring my fiancé down as he enters the room.
“I know. I just missed her and wanted to tell my girl how excited I am to meet her up at the altar tomorrow.”
My heart literally melts. I’m marrying the sweetest man I’ve ever known. And he loves me so much.
“Me too.” I quickly climb off the bed and rush to him, wrapping my arms around his waist. “I was just telling Shay that I can’t wait to start our lives together.”
“Can I just have one kiss, baby?”
“You can have all the kisses you want.” I lean up on my toes, eager for the connection.
“Hey, that’s bad luck.” Shayna tries to cockblock me in the background, but I ignore her, pressing my lips tighter to his. It’s like he’s my gravity. My entire body melts into him, drawing closer and closer, wanting to tie myself to him and never come up for air.
“Damn, angel. If I don’t walk out that door now, I’ll snatch you up and take you with me.”
“Quick. Take me now.” I cling to his shoulders, smiling.
“No!” Shayna shrieks, practically jumping off the bed. “It’s bad luck!”
We both crack up in laughter at her panic. She has to be the most superstitious person I know.
“We don’t need luck,” Rogue says, brushing his thumb across my cheek, the look in his eyes so full of love. “I love this girl too much to let anything stand in the way of our happiness.”
He’s right. We don’t need luck. Not when it comes to something this true. The skies could open up tomorrow ruining our entire ceremony, and I’ll still know that my life with this man is going to be incredible.
