Chapter 19
Chapter Nineteen
Nell
I close the door after the waiter delivers our room service and holy moly, Romeo was right when he said he ordered a lot of food.
“There is enough here to feed an army; we will not eat it all,” I mutter.
“What we do not eat, I will have delivered to a homeless shelter.” He shrugs, slipping on a pair of black boxer briefs under his towel, which drops at the perfect moment, and I see his cock hanging between his legs.
He has no shame, this man, not that he needs to have any; he is a work of art.
“That is really nice, Romeo.” My voice is thick from emotion. My ex would never have thought of doing something that nice.
“No point letting it go to waste, when someone who desperately needs a meal could eat.”
“You cannot be this sweet, Romeo. I am mad at you,” I huff, pulling the cloche off each plate.
The smells that are coming from the food are out of this world, and it makes my stomach rumble.
Heat hits my back and I shiver, while his hands settle on my hips, and his lips touch my neck.
“I can and I will. Come sit.” He leads me to the bed, so I climb up, watching him walk back and bring plates of food over to me.
“Dig in. I have something to show you.” I frown at his words.
He climbs onto the bed next to me, his arm brushing against mine, making my body react to him.
“Asher sent me this. I do not know what it is but if I am right, it might be something to do with what you saw.”
He open his phone, then the email, clicking on the attachment. It is security footage from around the pool, and it captures Romeo and Asher talking, then Daniella walking across to them, and I fucking hate how beautiful she is.
Why is it always the hot ones who are the crazy ones?
Words are exchanged between them, then she kisses him. His hands go to her waist and he pushes her away, anger evident on his face, and then he makes a phone call.
“Oh,” I murmur.
“I did not kiss her. I did not cheat or break any rules, babe.” His voice is strained, carrying anger from watching what happened.
“Why would she do this? I have done nothing to her.”
“You got me, baby.” He cups my cheek, making me look at him.
I nod, my heart racing in my chest.
“Who are you calling?”
A grin slips across his handsome face, making me want to kiss his perfect lips, to feel them on me again.
“My uncle. He is sending Daniella back to the mainland. I told him that if she was still going to the wedding, then we would not.”
I gasp. “Romeo, you cannot threaten that. I may hate the woman, but her best friend is getting married. She cannot miss that. Call your uncle back,” I urge him.
He stares at me for a long time. It makes me wonder if I went too far making demands of him.
“Fuck, Nell. What the hell am I going to do with you? You are too fucking good for me.” He grunts and pulls out his cell, making a call.
“Uncle, has she gone yet?” I slap his bare thigh.
He captures my hand, bringing it to his mouth and kissing my knuckles. Swoon.
Damn, he is making all the right moves, saying all the right things. Will this lead me to fall for someone who could fucking destroy me?
“Nell is clearly a better person than me, and she wants Daniella to stay and celebrate Mia’s wedding with her. Just give her a warning to stay away from each of us.” I do not hear the reply, but Romeo hangs up the phone and looks to me.
“Thank you.”
“I did that for you, not for her.” I nod. “You are a good girl, baby.” Reaching for a strawberry, I bite into it.
The juice floods my mouth, making me moan. I am so freaking hungry.
“Nell.” My name is a warning on his lips.
“Sorry,” is all I say, then reach for a piece of bacon.
“Babe, you never have to apologize for being you around me. I fucking like who you are.” Something flashes in his eyes, but it is gone before I can question it, and he digs into some of the food.
“This is good,” I add, filling my mouth with eggs.
“It is, but I bet you taste better.”
Shock has me choking, but the sexy bastard laughs while he rubs my back.
“You have got to stop saying things like that when I am eating. I swear you are trying to kill me off Mafia-style and pass it off as an accident.” He winks before feeding me a blueberry.
The fruit touches my tongue, his fingers slowly retreating, so I close my lips around his fingers, and his eyes darken right in front of me.
“Good girl.” He kisses me, and I quickly swallow the tiny piece of fruit, so that I do not in fact choke on it while this man kisses the breath out of me.
I get lost in the kiss, his hand on my neck keeping me to him. It is an intimate yet possessive act, and it is making me burn for him.
He stops kissing me, resting his forehead against mine, breathing me in. We stay like that while we catch our breaths, then he pulls back, looking me in the eyes.
Again something flashes behind his eyes that I cannot put my finger on.
It makes me overthink many different scenarios and it makes me queasy that he might be regretting making the deal, but since I am here, he is trying to keep me happy, so he is playing the perfect book boyfriend.
Oh, I am going to get hurt. I can feel it.
We tuck into our food again, eating it before some of the food goes cold. It leaves me to my thoughts, which sometimes is not a good thing.
“Tell me about these misfortunes of mishaps,” he says.
I chuckle, and go into telling him some stories of my childhood with this curse following me around.
We laugh so hard, we cry. My stomach and face hurt from laughing so much.
“I can and cannot believe that is happened. What did the teacher say?”
“He was not happy that I took his keys from his desk drawer and filed his car with balloons. I mean, what could he say? I thought I was doing a nice thing, but oh well. I got send home from school and was told to come back in the next day to apologize to the teacher. Which I did because I am a good girl.”
“You are a good girl,” his voice drips, and I shiver. “You like the praise kink, don’t you, Nell?”
“I think I do,” I reply, my voice low. “But no sex for you; I am still in a bad mood over what happened and before you jump in, I know that it was not your fault, but it has left a bad taste in my mouth,” I admit.
“I can give you something to suck on that will take that bad taste away.” He winks, with a sexy grin on his face.
“You are a cheeky, dirty bastard, Romeo De Massy.”
“Have you actually hurt yourself, while having a mishap?” he asks, settling down into the bed.
My gaze slowly moves from his hands that are tucked behind his head, down his arms, over his shoulder, and across his smooth chest. I take in every inch of his torso and his abs, the bumps that I would love to run my tongue over.
He has a small smatter of hair that draws your eyes to his waistline, and I know what he is packing in there. A whole lot of packing that feels so good inside of me.
I fan myself, and Romeo chuckles.
Blinking, I slap his chest, but he catches my hand, pulling me so that I am lying on top of him, chest to chest. Private parts to private parts.
Oh my.
My body is humming with need for him to take me, but I know that my mind is not there after what I saw today, and yes, he explained, but my mind is protecting my heart.
“To answer your questions, Mr. De Nosy. Yes, I got this.” I awkwardly point to the scar on my hairline. “I was walking to the front of my class in college and my feet got tangled with a strap of someone’s satchel. Fell down six stairs and split my head open.”
“Fuck, you are lucky that you only got this.” His thumb brushes over the scar, making me shiver.
“It is what it is, handsome. I fall down sometimes, it cannot be helped. There is no point in me spending my life taking safety measures when it will happen if it is meant to be.” I shrug.
Resting my chin on the back of my hands, my palms soak up the heat from his bare chest. My legs have dropped to either side of him, and we fit.
Perfectly, I might add, and he knows it. His cock thickens under me, but I make no move to take the pleasure I so desperately want. Romeo needs to understand that I have the willpower of my mother. She is as stubborn as a mule.
“Where the hell have you been all my life, Nell Bana? I could have done with some of your easygoing vibes years ago,” he says, not realizing the impact that his words are having on me.
“I have always been here, Rome; you just hadn’t found me yet.”
We spend the rest of the day talking and ordering food. By nightfall, we get dressed and go for a beach walk while Romeo makes me fall harder and harder for him.
I am not sure what will happen when we go home but for now, I will take whatever I can get.
