Chapter 29

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Nell

Simone dragged me here to Lux, with the knowledge that Romeo owns it.

She told me that she was tired of me silently moping and hiding in romance books to get over him. Even after we talked and I told her that I was okay, which I am, she did not believe me.

The music plays loudly, people dance and drink. Sipping from my straw, the fruity cocktail makes my tummy happy.

I have not drunk any alcohol since I got back, when my night of shots with Romeo’s aunties and mother made me regret drinking so much. Just thinking about shots makes my stomach churn, so I am happy with fruity cocktails for now.

“This place is bouncing,” Simone shouts over the music.

I nod my head, keeping the straw in my mouth, sipping the goodness.

Simone brought me here to show him that what he did, did not hurt me and that I am a strong bitch— her words, not mine.

I dressed up, making a fucking effort for a man who wants nothing to do with me, but I did it for myself and for Simone.

We needed a girls’ night out, and I have so far been successful in pushing down the idea that Romeo could be here and with Daniella.

If that is the case, then it will be the final nail in the coffin and I can truly move on.

No more silently moping as Simmy says.

“Can I buy you a drink?” a deep voice comes from behind me.

I turn around to see a handsome man smiling at me. I motion to my straw.

“I already have one.” He leans in, his mouth almost touching my ear, so I inch back, trying not to make it obvious.

“I could get you the next one. A pretty lady like yourself should not be buying her own drinks.”

I want to roll my eyes so bad, but I refrain from doing so.

“Does that work with all the girls?” His smirk gets wider.

“I do not date girls; I fuck women.” I inch back, again, keeping a polite smile on my face.

He reaches for me, but again I step to the side. I look to Simone, but she is talking to a girl I do not know. Reaching out my hand for her, the man tries to touch my arm, but before he can make contact, he is pushed back, making people around us scream or gasp.

“What the fuck?” Simone blurts out at my side.

I see a figure dressed all in black shove the man back further before he turns to look at me.

“Romeo?”

He doesn’t say anything, anger and relief written all over his face. My body tingles seeing this alpha male charging in here like a badass book boyfriend. Damn, he looks fucking good.

Good enough to eat.

“You want to eat me, baby?”

My eyes spring wide and I gasp. Simone laughs like a fucking hyena next to me, slapping Asher’s back as they enjoy my mouthy mishap.

“I said that out loud?” I wince, he nods, but before I can say anything else, his mouth is on mine.

Oh fuck, I have missed his mouth. His tongue seeks mine in my mouth, and he tastes like whiskey, and I melt into him. Big hands cup my face, keeping me close to him, while his lips devour mine.

“I have fucking missed you, baby,” he whispers against my lips.

“Umm, guys, maybe this needs to go to a private place.” Asher points to the VIP area.

“Good idea,” Romeo replies, clutching my hand, but I dig my heels in.

Everything that happened in Hawaii comes flooding back, making my chest hurt, as nausea settles in.

I just kissed a man in a relationship.

Oh fuck, I am a whore.

“Now, wait a damn minute. You are not taking her anywhere.”

Simone to the rescue.

Yes!

“Simone is right. You can’t just come here and drag me away from girls’ night. You had your chance and you fucking blew it. No texts, calls, nothing. Where have you been for two weeks, Romeo? Fucking your new woman?” I scoff and reach for Simone, but Romeo cuts me off.

“We need to talk.” Shaking my head at him, I pull my hand free, but he tightens his grip. Not enough to hurt me but tugging, and I fall into his chest.

“Let me explain and then if you want to, you can walk away forever and I will leave you alone.” I look into his eyes when he says this.

I swallow the lump in my throat seeing the pain and hope staring back at me.

I nod, my words stolen by his emotions that are clear on his face. He dips his chin and takes my hand, leading me through the crowd. Simone is right behind me, but Asher leads her to the VIP area, while Romeo pulls me up some stairs that lead to his office.

Once we are inside, he locks the door and I gulp, but up go those big girl panties that I seem to be needing around this man.

“Say what you have to say.”

He sits on the edge of his desk facing me, running his hand through his hair, and I want to sigh, but I fight it. Damn, I love his hair; it is so soft and…damn it, pull it together, Nell.

“What you heard me and Asher discussing was not about you, it was about Daniella. She was already onto a new victim, a cousin of mine, which I have now put a stop to.”

“Because you two are back together.”

He laughs, shaking his head. “No, baby. We are not together and never will be. For a woman who loves reading but hates ‘miscommunication romance’ you certainly put yourself into that trope, didn’t you?”

I bite my lip, hating the sexy smile on his face.

“The intimate moment, as you called it, was Daniella telling me that she was sorry for the trouble she had caused and that she was happy that I found you. We talked for a little while before she left and I came to bed. Daniella was going to speak with you after the wedding, but she got drunk and forgot, then you were gone the next morning.” He sighs, looking down at his feet.

This strong, alpha male is looking pretty fucking dejected right about now.

Licking my lips, my fingers knotting together, while I sum up what he has told me. They are not together, and he was not calling me a gold digger.

“If you are not with her, where have you been? Why have you not text?” My voice is low, my heart is racing in my chest, and it is painful as I wait for him to reply to me.

“You blocked me, Nell.” he explains.

“I did for like three days, but my stupid curiosity won out and I unblocked you.”

“Damn.” He sighs. “I came to Comfort Cup, and I spoke to your parents. They wouldn’t let me see you and made it clear that they know that I hurt you. Your mother said that you did not want to see me.”

“You came to see me?” My high-pitched voice shows my shock.

He nods.

“They never told me. Fuck,” I murmur. “I am going to kill them.”

“They were protecting you, babe.”

He steps closer to me, his hands going to my waist. I shiver as he dips down so we are eye to eye.

“I want you, Nell Bana. Only you, baby. Will you give me another chance? I know how much you love a bad boy getting another chance in those spicy romance books you read.” He grins, making me grin.

His smile is infectious.

“Maybe,” I mutter.

His smile widens and fuck me, it makes my heart swoon.

“Good enough for me, but I want to propose a new deal.”

“Oh, yeah?” I say coyly.

“Yeah. I want you to be mine for the rest of our lives. My woman. My wife. The mother of my babies.” I gasp, my heart feeling fuller than it ever has.

He is offering the deal of a life time, one I have always dreamed of.

“I accept your deal.”

He cups my jaw again, before one hand slips around to the back of my head while he kisses me. Stealing my breath, but this is one robbery I do not want to end.

He can take all of me as long as he does not break me again.

Romeo De Massy was supposed to be a one-week fling, but it looks like I get the better end of the deal we made.
