31. Chapter Thirty
“Son?” Amelia said softly. This hadn’t been what she was expecting.
The day had sped by. The word spread through the pack that the alpha and alpha mate had a son, a second one. The brothers had all come in to see their son and hold him. Mal, Sheela, and Todd, along with Saul and Theron had spent the evening with them laughing and talking.
Now they were alone, and the shock she was feeling finally settled over her. She had an omega son.
“What does this mean?” she asked Rome. In the back of her mind, there were vague shadows as if she knew this moment in time was coming.
“I don’t know.” He caressed her cheek before he placed his finger in their tiny son’s hand. “Would you like to know what I know?”
“Yes.”
“I know we have a son that is as precious to me as my other son. We’ll love him and watch him grow up with pride. No matter what comes, we’ll always be there for him. There’s nothing else I need to know.”
She looked down at the pup in her arms. She changed his position and watched as he latched onto her nipple. A smile touched her lips. She loved her pup from the moment she knew she was pregnant. Now her girl pup is a boy, and her heart was even bigger as she felt the love for him grow. There was no telling what this meant, but she was sure whatever Dark Night and Luna had done all those centuries ago changed the natural progression of life.
“Ronan or Rowan?” She lifted her eyes to meet her mate’s eyes.
He looked down at his pup contentedly suckling on his mother’s nipple. Ronan or Rowan. He said the names several times.
“Rowan,” he said.
“Why?”
“I can’t imagine him being anything but a protector with a mother like you.” She smiled at him, unable to keep her happiness to herself.
“Whatever the future brings, it will be you and me forever.” Rome kissed his mate as their son continued to eat.
As the moonlight filtered through the window, Amelia and Rome shared a quiet moment together. Their son, Rowan, lay peacefully in his crib, and everything felt just right. “I never imagined a love like this,” Amelia whispered, her voice full of wonder. “Neither did I,” Rome replied softly, his hand resting over hers. “But now that we have him and Malcolm, I know this is exactly what we were meant to have.”
Their hearts were one and their story was far from over. Whatever came their way, they would handle it as a family.
Amelia woke from a sound sleep; her heart was racing, and her cousin’s name was on her lips. “Nicole!”
