Ch20 Biwi Mode ON #2

The respect I felt for him grew even deeper. Becoming the head of such a powerful family at such a young age wasn't a small achievement it was enormous. It meant he wasn't just disciplined or authoritative; he was capable. Strong. Dependable.

No wonder he carried himself the way he did.

Rudraksh Vardhan wasn't perfect because he tried to be.

He was perfect because responsibility had shaped him long before life gave him a choice.

And somewhere between understanding him and fearing the world he belonged to, I realized

Standing beside him would never be easy.

But it would always mean standing with dignity.

Then Rudraksh spoke again.

"Vardhanpur..."

He paused briefly, as if the name itself carried weight. "Come. Let me tell you something about it."

I nodded eagerly. "Yes, please. I want to know about the place whose responsibility Dadi was talking about what kind of land it is."

Rudraksh began calmly, though I could sense a restrained intensity beneath his voice.

"Rivanya, even today, Vardhanpur is governed by the Vardhan royal family. There is a government on paper, yes but in reality, only the king's word holds power. And that king is your father-in-law, Pratap Raj Vardhan."

The moment he took Bapusa's name, I noticed a sharp change in Rudraksh's expression. Anger flickered across his face brief, controlled, but unmistakable. He steadied himself and continued.

"Even now, the people of Vardhanpur listen only to their Maharaj. Whether it is finance, security, or governance, everything is still discussed in the royal court, just like in ancient times. It is the people of Vardhanpur themselves who have kept our royal family in power. There is monarchy there,

not democracy. In short, everything that once existed in royal households continues to exist in Vardhanpur even today."

Listening to him, I felt both stunned and fascinated.

I had never heard of anything like this in real life.

The very idea that a place still existed where a king's word mattered more than the government's felt unreal.

It filled me with disbelief and excitement.

The thought that I would soon see such a place with my own eyes made my curiosity grow even stronger.

Rudraksh then added, "In some time, when we go to Vardhanpur, my Raj Tilak will take place. After that, I will officially become the king of Vardhanpur."

I looked at him in shock.

"You'll become the king?" I asked. "So... just like Bapusa has 'Rana' before his name, after your Raj Tilak, your name will have it too?"

"Yes," he replied simply. "And if you are with me..." he paused for a fraction of a second, "...then 'Rani Sa' will be added before your name as well."

His words made me frown slightly.

"If I am with you? What do you mean by that?" I asked. "Where am I going, exactly?"

Rudraksh fell silent.

That silence frightened me more than any harsh answer could have. It forced my mind into a thousand directions, wondering what he was thinking, what he wasn't saying.

After a moment, he spoke again, brushing past the topic.

"Leave that for now. Listen honestly, you already possess most of the qualities that Gurumaa appreciates. Still, answer her questions carefully, alright? And when you go before her, keep your pallu over your head if possible."

I nodded immediately.

"Yes, I know that. Don't worry I'm aware of these things."

He nodded in response and continued telling me more about Vardhanpur its traditions, its people, its unspoken rules.

Somewhere between his words, time slipped away unnoticed.

Before I realized it, we had reached the airport. From there, we boarded Rudraksh's private jet, and five hours later, we landed directly in Mumbai. A car was already waiting for us, and we headed straight toward the Vardhan mansion.

What Rudraksh didn't know was what awaited him next.

He had thought he could stop me from going back to my home so easily.

Oh, he was so wrong.

I was fully prepared to make him taste his own medicine.

Wife mode: ON.

Rivanya.

The cars sped forward at full pace, and within moments, the main gates of the Vardhan mansion were thrown open by the guards. The convoy entered smoothly, one after another.

And there I was fully prepared to assert my position as the lady of this house.

As soon as the cars came to a halt inside, the guards opened the doors. I stepped out before Rudraksh and walked straight to the entrance of the mansion. Folding my arms across my chest, I stood there firmly, waiting.

Rudraksh, without giving it much thought, stepped out of the car calmly and began walking toward the house. Just as he was about to enter, I stopped him.

He looked at me, confused.

"What happened? Why are you stopping me?"

I placed a smile on my face slow, deliberate, and dangerous and asked,

"Mr. Rudraksh Vardhan... who am I?"

Without the slightest change in expression, he replied,

"See, I told you not to eat that unhygienic food. You already don't use your brain much, and now it seems it has completely shut down. What kind of question is that, Rivanya?"

His nonsense made my blood boil, but I held myself back. Oh, I wasn't going to argue he would be punished.

I asked again, clearly,

"Who am I to you?"

Irritated now, he snapped,

"You are my wife. Alright?"

I nodded slightly.

"Yes, I am your wife. And you are the owner of this house, correct?"

He answered casually,

"I built it, so yes it's my house. And now it's yours too."

I smiled wider.

"Exactly. This is now my house. And from today onward, things will go my way here. And yes your punishment starts now."

He raised an eyebrow.

"What punishment, Mrs. Vardhan?"

Anger finally surfaced in my voice.

"The punishment for not stopping me, Mr. Vardhan. If you had stopped me that day from leaving with Mamaji, all this drama would never have happened. But no you chose to be the great man, letting me walk out of my own home. So now, for the rest of today and tonight, you will stay outside this house.

That is your punishment."

He stared at me in disbelief.

"You think you can throw me out of my own house?"

I corrected him coolly.

"Not can. I already have. And remember if you decide to sleep somewhere else, I will send all your belongings there permanently. When my anger cools down, I'll allow you back inside. Until then, enjoy your exile."

With that, without waiting for his response, I turned around, walked straight into the mansion, and shut the door firmly on his face.

Rudraksh kept shouting from outside, his voice echoing against the closed doors, but I had already shut him out both literally and otherwise.

As I turned around, I noticed the entire household staff staring at me in stunned silence, as if they had just witnessed something they never thought possible. Their expressions said it all this had never happened before.

I cleared my throat sharply and spoke in a firm, commanding tone.

"If anyone opens the door for Rudra, they will lose their job immediately. Without my permission, he is not to step inside this house. Am I clear?"

In unison, every head bowed.

"Yes, Ma'am," they replied together.

Satisfied, I asked calmly,

"Where is the house's CCTV control room?"

One of the servants, visibly nervous, answered,

"It's... on the first floor, at the very end, Ma'am."

I nodded once and began walking toward the room.

As I walked away, fragments of whispered conversations reached my ears.

One of them said quietly,

"At last, Sir has found someone who can stand up to him."

Another added, barely containing their amazement,

"Yes... the man who never bows before anyone has been thrown out of his own house by his wife."

I didn't turn back.

I didn't smile either.

Because this wasn't victory yet.

This was just the beginning.

Then I walked straight into the CCTV control room.

The moment the guards saw me, they stood up instantly and bowed their heads in respect. Without wasting a second, I said firmly,

"I want the live footage of the main gate. Right now."

At once, one of the guards switched the screen to the main entrance camera.

There he was Rudraksh.

Still standing outside.

He was pacing back and forth, scratching his head in frustration, clearly restless and irritated. Watching him like that gave me an odd sense of satisfaction. After all, this was his punishment for upsetting his wife.

And tonight, he would not be allowed inside either. Let him stay there. Marriage isn't just about rituals; it comes with responsibility too.

Rudraksh could enter the house within a second if he wanted to. He owned this place. Everyone here answered to him. And yet... he didn't.

He was actually listening to me.

That was the most surprising part.

Why was he obeying me so quietly?

Was it guilt? Regret? Or something else entirely?

For a moment, my heart softened.

Should I let him in? How would he survive the cold night outside?

No.

What nonsense was I thinking?

Rivanya, think like a wife. If you don't behave like one, he will never take you seriously as his wife either. Let him stay outside for a while longer. We'll see at midnight whether he deserves to come in or not.

With that thought, I left the control room and went straight to my bedroom.

The first thing I did was take a long shower and freshen up. Then I draped myself in a light yellow saree and applied sindoor. When I checked the time, it was already 3 in the afternoon.

I stepped out onto the balcony to check on Rudraksh but he wasn't there.

That surprised me.

Then I remembered he had mentioned a meeting earlier. Maybe he went to the office. Yes, that must be it.

I came back inside and began putting on my bangles. I had always loved adorning myself, loved shringar. And now that I was married, I finally had the right to do it fully. But today, I was exhausted.

So I kept it simple just a saree, mangalsutra, and bangles.
