Chapter 22
TWENTY-TWO
COLE
L ana’s hips sway as she waltzes past a body on the floor and out of view. I slump back against the brick wall, my soft dick still hanging out, the condom discarded in my pocket.
I’m not exactly sure what just happened exactly, but it feels big.
That this will either be the beginning, or the end.
I tuck myself away, doing my best to clean up the evidence from my clothes before getting the hell away from the scene of the crime. Lana was right, I did want to get out of there before ‘cleanup arrives’ since I have no idea what that means, and it doesn’t sound like anything good.
I bypass the club and head straight back to the cottage, no longer dressed appropriately or in the mood for socializing.
Who am I kidding? I’m never in the mood for socializing.
Our place is dark once I approach it, and I enter quietly since I’m not sure if the guys are still out or if they’re home yet, but I’m not in the mood for their questions about where I’ve been if they are home .
I walk past the kitchen on silent feet, only inches away from my room when a throat clears behind me.
Fuck.
Sighing, I turn slowly to see Logan standing next to the kitchen counter, staring at me with a raised brow. His eyes flick down to my torn shirt before they rise back up to my face and his lips quirk.
Well, thank fuck it’s him and not one of the others. He’s a lot more subtle than they are.
I clear my throat. “Hey.”
Logan’s lips tip up in a smirk. “Hey.”
“What’s up?” I ask.
“Nothing much,” he drawls. “Not even gonna bother asking where you’ve been. I’m the only one here, so you’re in the clear.”
A breath of relief rushes from me. In other words, he won’t tell the others about me sneaking in like I’ve got something to hide.
Which I do, considering I spent the night watching two men get murdered and then fucked my enemy.
Or got fucked? I’m not sure what it was, but I do know that I need it again. And again. And again.
Fuck, her tight cunt squeezing me is going to be the object of every fantasy I have from now on.
“They’ll be home soon, so you might want to…” He waves a hand to my exposed torso, blood still covering my skin.
I’ve never wanted a shower more than I do right now, and not because I want to wash Lana off me, but because I’ve just laid on the ground in a filthy alleyway, inches away from two dead men .
I start to turn and head towards my room, but a thought stops me and I can’t help but call out, “Hey, Logan?”
His chin dips in acknowledgement, and I scramble to find the words I need.
“If I… um, if I needed to get someone from A to B without them… being awake, do you…” I trail off, not knowing how to word what I’m asking.
“You want to drug and kidnap someone?” he asks, not an ounce of emotion showing on his face or in his tone.
I mull it over. “Essentially,” I admit with a shrug.
He barks out a laugh that’s so unlike him it threatens to startle me.
“Jesus Christ, this girl has you fucked up,” he mutters, shaking his head. “Don’t worry about it, Aston. I’ll get you everything you need.”
He’s the one person who I know would never judge me for something like this.
Well, I’m sure the other guys wouldn’t judge me per se…
Logan’s just more like me than the others, and I know he would never try and talk me out of it.
He’ll fully support any crazy shit I decide to do, just like I would for him.
I ’ve been watching over Lana’s movements for the last couple of days, and I know she usually uses the gym around this time of night.
Luckily, the gym on this side of the building is rarely used—which is probably what drew her to this one after what went down between me and her, though I can’t complain about it because the thought of her being anywhere near that dickhead Thoms fills me with rage—so no one will be around to witness what’s about to happen .
I peek around the corner, careful to keep myself out of eye line as I watch her run on the treadmill. My mouth drops open as I stare at her, and I realize that this must be the first time I’ve ever seen her not wearing long sleeves.
She has tattoos. Like… a lot of them. The intricate designs curl and wind up each arm and around her shoulders.
No wonder she always wears sweaters and hides her body, she’d stick out even more than she already does if she ever wore what she’s wearing now around school, and it makes me wonder just how much ink she has under the black tank top she’s wearing right now.
I know there are none beneath those tight-as-hell leggings of hers, because I would have noticed them when she had her bare legs wrapped around me in the alley.
Is it only her arms and shoulders? Or do they extend to her back and stomach? I can’t see clearly enough from here to see them exactly, but they look like some sort of flower arrangements.
Huh. Never took her for the type of girl who likes flowers.
Then again… what the hell do I know?
I know she likes killing people and pushing all of my buttons, but other than that, she’s a mystery.
A mystery I want nothing more than to unfold.
She has her AirPods in, and the treadmill she’s running on doesn’t face the mirror, so I use the opportunity to sneak up behind her, my hand clutching the gift Logan left on my bed for me.
Her eyes are so focused on the stats on the machine that she doesn’t notice she’s not alone until it’s too late.
She presses stop on the treadmill, and I use those few seconds of it slowing down to my advantage, banding my arm around her waist and pulling her to me.
She thrashes in my arms and tries to turn her head to look at me, but I use the quick reflexes I’ve honed over the years to jam the needle into her neck before she can stop me.
She goes lax in my arms almost immediately and I pick her up, cradling her against me.
I guess there’s no going back now.
