Epilogue 2 Onyx

“Mr. Santo, you have a teleconference at nine,” my secretary reminded me as she placed a coffee beside me. I nodded to let her know I had heard her while I read the news.

Baby trafficking ring exposed, thirteen members to be in court this morning to face justice.

As I read, I felt the familiar anger building. Court was too good for them. Any form of justice served was too light in my opinion. However, I was pleased that between my uncle, George Lawrence, and myself, we had worked effectively to stop them.

If my brothers and cousin had been aware of how closely they were being watched, they would have been shocked.

The surveillance on my family was what prompted me to bring the fuckers down.

The twins and Ash were clever; there was no doubt, but they were na?ve.

What they uncovered was too dark, too twisted for teenagers to handle.

Glad it could finally be behind them, I turned my attention back to the Alabama Lions, they’d just won the championship, beating my brothers and cousin in the process, and there were a few players I wanted to know more about. Potential clients that I could sign.

The door to my office opened, and I looked up as Angel stormed in, the door slamming behind her. Ghostly white skin, thick black hair, and dark eyes flashing with anger, she looked pissed as hell.

“You took Prescott? You fucking asshole, you knew I was signing him!”

Looking out the glass wall, I saw the sun shining down on Nashville. “The sun’s out, I thought your kind avoided daylight.”

“Fuck you and your stupid vampire jokes. You knew I was signing Prescott; he’s the next big thing, and I had a deal!”

“No, you had an almost deal.” Leaning back in my chair, I smiled. “You don’t have a deal until the signature is on the line.” I gave her a playful wink. “I got the signature.”

“You’re a vile human being.”

“Thank you.”

She turned in disgust and started to walk back to the office door. I admired her ass as she walked. I may loathe every cell in her body, but I could still appreciate the wrapping. I never should have fucked her five years ago. One-night stands had a lot to answer for.

“Oh!” She stopped, as if she suddenly remembered something. She was a terrible actress. “Did I tell you?” Turning, she gave me a curious look. Her perfectly shaped eyebrow raised as she bit her lip.

“Please make this charade faster so I can get on with my day,” I drawled as I took a drink of my coffee.

“I have an NFC team looking at some college players.”

She’d better not.

“Is that right?”

“Yeah, I’m just dipping my toe in, testing the waters, but it’s lukewarm,” she grinned.

“You’re going after my brothers?”

“And the cousin.”

“You’re delusional.” Shaking my head, I looked her over. “Angel, you’re a fool if you think any one of them would sign with you.”

She walked back to me, the flustered pretense dropped, as the sports agent and notorious ballbuster leaned over my desk. “I can get them, all of them, on the same team, in the same draft.” Her smile was wicked. “Can you?”

“Yes.” No, how the fuck had she pulled this?

She straightened, and I saw the mutual hatred as she looked at me. “Game on?”

“Let’s play.”
