22. Chapter Twenty-two

Chapter twenty-two

B rennan

This had been the best week ever. Ryder had changed my flat tire and then taken me to a place he knew of to get a new one.

They weren’t open on the weekend, so we left the car there, and I spent the rest of the weekend with him.

I’d enjoyed the motorcycle ride, but that was mostly because I liked sitting behind him with my arms wrapped around his chest. Since I didn’t have a car, he took me to the store on Sunday so I could get what I needed to cook dinner for us that night.

My car was ready Monday morning, and he came home for lunch to take me to get it.

It wasn’t that I couldn’t have handled the car on my own, I could have, but it was really nice not to have to.

I’d never had that. My dad would have insisted that as a man, it was my job to handle stuff like this myself, and Patrick had never been the type to do things for anyone but himself.

On Friday, I was excited because I was spending the night, and it would be the first time I’d stayed over since I got my car back.

Each day when it got to be quitting time, I was tempted to stay until Ryder got home, but I didn’t want to come across as clingy.

We’d said we were going to try this thing, but I didn’t know exactly what this thing was.

I had all the food planned out, and since Ryder had assured me multiple times this week that I had permission to spend as much as I wanted, I was also planning to buy a few decorative items for his patio. Not that I was planning on going overboard or anything. I just wanted everything to look nice.

I’d spent most of the week making sure I had my work all done so I didn’t have to worry about that come Friday.

I went to the store first thing and then spent the rest of the day decorating the outside area and prepping the food.

By the time Ryder got home, I had the cake I’d prepared for dessert made, the sides done, and the meat was all marinating so all he had to do tomorrow was fire up the grill.

I was finishing the clean-up when Ryder came into the kitchen and stepped up behind me at the sink where I was washing the last of the dishes I’d messed up.

He nuzzled my neck, making me shiver. “You know I have a dishwasher.”

“I know, but there wasn’t enough for a load, so it made more sense to just wash them. Besides, I like bubbles.” I raised my hand, picking up a handful of bubbles and blowing them back into the sink.

“Do you like bubble baths?”

“Sure, I love them. What’s not to like?”

“I’ve never been a big fan, but now that I’m thinking about it, you naked in a tub of bubbles is something I could get behind.”

“Your tub is huge, so you could literally get behind me if you wanted to,” I teased.

“Oh, I want. I tell you what, Angel. Let’s go out to dinner, and we can stop and get some bubble bath on the way home.”

“That sounds amazing. Let me finish up here, and then I’ll get changed.”

“Sounds good. I’ll go take a shower really quick while you finish up, and then we’ll go.”
