Chapter 17 | Cameron
Chapter 17
Cameron
I couldn’t wait to leave this party even though we’d been here for all of an hour. Everyone was friendly, drinks were flowing and free, but I wasn’t in the mood, nor did I have anything in common with these men if you omitted Kyle and Don. I didn’t know Justin that well, and it had been through business and our relationship was sort of transactional. I bought expensive cars, and he sold them and owned a garage to keep them running and when I got tired of them, he sold them for me.
However, I rarely used them lately. I glanced at my stale drink and let out a sigh. Few if anyone heard, but the bored look written across my face said it all, and if anyone took the time to observe me they would know immediately.
What was there to be excited about? No one at the party was my age except maybe Justin who was in his thirties, but everyone else was ten or twenty years my junior. I could remember it was a party just like this where I met Brett, and I didn’t want to be reminded of him. Even the peace I’d enjoyed since I tried to forget my loss would be shattered.
However, wasn’t that the reason I was in New York, to remember how I felt when Brett was alive. It came to me this moment I’d been living in the past, and it was time to let that go. It was a life that wasn’t returning, and I had to find another life and go on. I thought I had discovered how to forget Brett, but I was too stubborn to admit I was wrong and because of that I was here alone. Well not really alone because I have Kyle, Jason, and Don.
“Why don’t you socialize, there are people I want you to meet,” Jason said, standing in front of me after he showed up without me noticing him. He had flown in a day earlier. I suspected he had been in one of the rooms with a friend. He handed me a drink from a tray a passing waiter held. I took a sip and gazed at Jason’s flushed cheery face.
“I’m a people watcher,” I said to prevent Jason from pulling me out of my protective shell. “I go to parties and observe others having fun.” Not really. I just didn’t feel like explaining why I didn’t want to be here.
“What kind of BS is that, Cameron? You used to be full of life, and since you’ve turned forty, you behave like an old man. Look around, you have some of the most beautiful boys in this city waiting for a man like you, and anyone of them can make you come alive. Take Gram, he loves to dress up in women’s clothes and make all your fantasies come true.”
Although Gram had on a beautiful suit you never would expect that from him. However, his gestures at closer examination, he did act more feminine than the guys here. The way he held his head and his hands would give him away.
“You take Gram,” I said, “because I’m not looking for a boy who wants to be a girl.”
“He likes to dress like that, but I can assure you he’s all man. Take my word for it.” If I knew Jason, and I did, then he had been around and he was speaking from experience.
“Oh, I’ll take your word. But I’m—” Before I could say more, Jason added, “Look at him. Isn’t he super cute. Well, he likes to suck cock. That’s all he likes to do. He doesn’t even want you to penetrate him. He gets off just from sucking cock, can you believe it?”
“Yes, I can believe it because he’s an associate of mine, and at this time he’s living in one of my homes until I sell it. He house sits for me.” Jason plopped down next to me and placed his arm behind my back.
“Imagine my embarrassment.” Yes, imagine my embarrassment when Kyle and Don disappeared into my jet’s restroom, and Kyle came out wearing cum on his mouth, I thought.
“You don’t need to be embarrassed,” I said. “You still know more about my friends than I do,” I continued, “Now there’s Don my secretary. He’s a great secretary, but he’s been into a lot of different relationships lately, and he’s on his fifth,” I said watching him and Kyle. “I just wish he’d settle down and get focused before I have to fire him. I don’t like doing things like that, but business is business. I have to pay two people for a job that may only take one. The way he’s going there’s going to be more drama in his life.” I guessed if you sat back and observed people you knew, or if they were strangers, they would show you who they were.
When I turned I spotted an elegant looking man who appeared to wear some kind of makeup. It wasn’t that much, but I could tell because Sabastian had demonstrated makeup on his channel, and I’d seen so many of his videos, I was able to see the difference. “And who is that? He appears to be around my age?”
My first thought was maybe I could have a conversation with him because I knew it was a waste of time with the other dudes, and at this point all I wanted to do was have a mature conversation.
“He’s the one giving the party, and the one who likes to match men together, and he’s coming over to us,” Jason whispered. The guy greeted Jason with a kiss, stood straight, looked at me, then smiled.
“Who is this beautiful man who has captured your attention, Jason. I thought you only had eyes for me whenever you’re in New York.”
Jason stood and embraced the man. “I only have eyes for you, Ron, and you know that. This is my friend, Cameron.” When the guy strode closer and met my eyes, I recognized him. I wondered why Jason would beg me to go with him to this club. I thought it was for entertainment and it was for something different.
“Are you the famous drag queen, who owns a drag club?”
“Guilty.”
“But you don’t look—”
“I know. How did you recognize me?”
“It was your husky voice,” I said, causing Ron to smile which rose and settled into his green eyes.
“ I knew someday someone would out me. I know Jason never would, because he knew how much I relish my privacy. I hide behind makeup and wigs and women’s clothes because I love to sing and dress up in drag, and not have anyone notice me outside of that club. It’s too stressful to have all my admirers wanting a peace of me.”
That was something Sabastian had said when I discovered who he was, and I wouldn’t listen to him. I felt betrayed and thought he lied to me just for the hell of it. I had my autonomy and I could go and come as I pleased, but not Sabastian, and now I understood.
“I’ll have to raise my voice an octave when I talk,” Ron said, taking me from my thoughts. At that moment, a buzzer rang, and Ron explained, “It must be the doorman calling. We have more people coming. I just love a party.” And Ron clapped his hands, then sauntered off in the direction of the foyer wearing his red velvet pantsuit, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin red bottom spiked heels.
When I heard the voices of two men, and I smelled the arousing scent of one as he neared the great room overlooking the city, and Rockefeller Center. Rockefeller Center was the location where the large Christmas tree had arrived, and was being decorated with large ornaments and lights. I came to see the tree being lit not sitting at a party with people I barely knew.
I had to admit this was a great view from where I was sitting near and across from the floor to ceiling windows, looking at a gorgeous skyline where Ron’s holiday party was in full swing. Maybe with two more men, things would liven up, because the drink Jason had handed me was stronger than I’d been used to, and at this point I wasn’t feeling any pain or regrets.
The air was filled with the smell of men sweating with expensive cologne, but through it all I recognized a scent I had become acquainted with. That scent had been wrapped in my brain, and every time I thought of Sabastain, that scent made me see the man who I had run off because of my callous behavior.
When the scent became stronger, I wanted to see who was wearing it. I craned my head around to see who it was that had piqued my curiosity and arousal. That was when our eyes locked. It was him. How was it possible we were both here at the same time of year together, and in the same place? Sam lowered his eyes and pretended he didn’t know me. His friend, the man who he came to the party with pulled him away, and in the direction of Justin who had been surrounded by a group of young men who appeared to be amazed at the amount of tattoos on his arm.
I heard a few say, “Did it hurt?” and placed their palms to rub his arm and remark about how strong he appeared to be. Justin just smiled and let them entertain themselves. I knew Justin to be a man who never spent too much time with one man. He was a bachelor and as he said, “I’m staying that way. I don’t have the time to invest in relationships. I want to be rich. Rich enough where I don’t have to want for anything, not even a man.”
However, when Justin stood and gawked at Sabastian he’d forgotten his intentions.
I leaned forward and stared at the back of Sabastian, and I could hear, “Justin, this is my friend. You know the one I talked to you about. The one I wanted you to meet.” Justin standing patiently waiting with a wide grin, reached and held Sam’s hand. The same hand he’d wrapped around my cock and his, and brought us to orgasm. The same hand where he’d pinched my nipples that sent me into a second orgasm.
Justin whispered in Sam’s ear, and then turned, and said, “I want you to meet someone.”
Oh fuck, they’re coming this way.
