Chapter 14
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
MORGAN
Icould tell Blake and Jax were angry with me. We could read each other well and they knew I'd had sex with Riley. If they weren't sure before, it was really obvious when she made a noise getting off the stool.
Things were awkward between the four of us as we climbed into Jax's SUV and headed to the mall.
I'd probably be just as angry if one of them had slept with her.
Somehow, we'd all managed falling for the same girl.
A girl we had not too long ago drugged and taken to our underwater facility after tormenting her for weeks.
My parents would be ashamed of me.
I looked over at Riley, who was typing up a storm on her phone. She had been non-stop texting for the past ten minutes. She was probably telling Ivy all about it. I was tempted to take her phone and read what she was texting.
My phone buzzed with a text from her.
Vixen: I can still feel you between my legs.
Me: Is that a good thing?
Vixen: Depends. Are we going to do it again?
I laughed, and Jax shot me a glare in the rearview mirror. Screw him. He could be mad all he wanted. She probably would have had sex with him if he hadn't been such a moody bastard.
Me: Do you think they'd kill me if I took you right here in the backseat? I don't mind if they watch.
Vixen: ... Ivy's going to meet us at the mall since she's now coming to homecoming too.
Fantastic. The cockblocker with flaming red hair was going to ruin all the fun. It's not that I had anything against Ivy, but she was tough as nails and wasn't scared to speak her mind. I had a few classes with her, and she'd already made it clear she hated my guts.
"You know, the last time we were in this SUV together, you three were kidnapping me." She huffed and then laughed. "Well, not this car specifically. That one went for a little swim."
"You've forgiven me, right?" I reached over and took her hand. "Because if what happened a few hours ago is any indication..."
She yanked her hand away and crossed her arms, looking to the front where Jax and Blake were scowling. Sometimes my mouth got away from me a bit.
"Are you going to go around telling everyone now?" It was hard to tell if she was amused or pissed because her mouth turned up in a slight smile.
Jax rubbed a hand over his face before tightening his hands on the steering wheel. "I'll kill him if he does."
Blake put his cheek on his fist and stared out the side window. "Does this mean you two are now a thing?"
"Yes." I was going to homecoming with her, after all.
She sucked in a breath. "No."
"What do you mean no? We're going to homecoming together. You even said you didn't want it to be just a one-time thing." I turned toward her and put my leg up on the seat.
"It doesn't mean you're my boyfriend." She bit her lip. "A woman can have sex and not be in a relationship."
I couldn't believe her. Yeah, I slept around without being in a relationship all the time, but with her, I wanted more. I scoffed and turned forward again.
"Maybe I want to explore things with Blake." She twisted her hands in her lap. "And Jax."
Jax braked a little too hard as we turned into the mall parking lot. Blake turned in his seat to look back at her, curiosity in his expression.
"Tritons don't share." I was surprised it came from Blake's mouth instead of Jax's. "How would that even work? I get you on Mondays and Thursdays?"
I laughed and then stopped when Riley glared at each of us. She didn't say anything as Jax parked the car and we got out.
Ivy must have been lying in wait because she appeared out of nowhere and she and Riley walked ahead of us toward the entrance.
Jax slammed the door harder than necessary, and as soon as I had mine shut, he fisted the front of my shirt and pushed me against it. "You crossed the line."
"I crossed the line?" I shoved him off me as Blake came around the car to make sure we didn't start hitting each other. I'd never been the one to throw the first punch, but it seemed like a good time to start.
What Riley did with her body was none of their business, and if she wanted to give me that part of her, it was her choice, not theirs. They were just pissed because it hadn't been them.
"She wanted to." I adjusted my shirt. "Not my fault you two were too concerned about her feelings to make the move. She's a grown ass woman."
"She's not the type of woman you hit and quit as you like to say. You can't keep your dick in your pants for five minutes." Blake headed toward the mall and I jogged to keep up with him, leaving Jax to stew by his car.
"I don't plan on sleeping with anyone else, even if she says we aren't a thing." I hadn't slept with anyone since I first kissed her. Even after racing the other night, I'd gone home instead. She put a spell on me, and now I was hers.
Shopping wasn't my favorite thing, but shopping with a girl I was falling in love with wasn't so bad. Riley was the happiest I'd ever seen her as she and Ivy wandered through the racks of dresses. Was that how she normally was?
Guilt ripped through me thinking about how much stress her father, mother, and us assholes had put her under. I stopped at a rack and flipped through the dresses.
"Riley, what size do you wear?" I knew it was a horrible question to ask a woman, but we were dress shopping.
"Seriously?" Ivy marched over to the rack I was looking at and pulled out a dress. "First off, you don't ask a woman her size clear across the store. Secondly, this dress is hideous."
I frowned at Ivy, who was looking at the dress in disgust. I couldn't see anything wrong with it. It was a short, shiny lime green dress. "But it's my favorite color."
She snorted and put it over her arm as Riley joined us. She looked at the dress in question. "I'll try it on since it's your favorite color."
"What about this one?" Jax held up a purple dress, and Riley and Ivy made sounds of approval. Screw him.
After they had enough dresses to start their own store, they went into the same fitting room to try them on. What the hell were they doing that for? My imagination went wild as I heard zippers.
"Would you guys ever share a fitting room with me?" Blake and Jax were sitting in seats nearby, scrolling through their phones.
"If you bought me dinner first," Blake said without looking up.
The girls talked in hushed voices for a while, probably gossiping about us. I didn't want to be a perv and go closer to the door to hear what they were saying, but I was tempted.
After about ten minutes, the door opened and Riley stepped out, looking like a vision in the lime green dress I'd picked out for her. She spun around and I nearly had a heart attack at the crisscross straps across the back and the way the material accentuated her ass.
"I look like a neon highlighter." She laughed and went back in the dressing room.
I frowned and sat down in a chair. "I thought it looked great."
Jax snorted. "You have no style, Mo. You can barely dress yourself."
He had a point, which is why she went with the purple dress. She might have picked Jax's dress, but she would be on my arm at homecoming.
