Chapter 2
Chapter Two
Hellhound
Sitting at the clubhouse with my woman, I stare at the screen of my phone and the name of the caller with a frown.
My gut tightens and twists in so many ways as I swipe my finger to answer.
I was hoping it was my sister calling after ditching the party yesterday, not long after Isabelle told me about the pregnancy.
I’d wanted to talk with Stella, but when I went looking for her, she’d up and left.
Something’s going on with her. I can feel it.
I know we’re still in rocky territory where our relationship is with getting it back to where it should have always been, but it’s not going to happen overnight.
We both have things to overcome as siblings.
However, one thing that will never change is my need to protect my little sister.
“Connor,” I answer, leaning back in my chair. My gaze going to Isabelle’s. Her brow lifts and I give her a knowing look. I’ve told her about my family that live in Ireland and how I’d sent Stella to live with them as she finished school.
“Well, I have several bits of news for you,” he responds tersely.
“And that would be?” I hope like hell he was able to get Stella out of that marriage contract.
“First things first, did you know that Stella’s pregnant?”
“Come again?” I straighten as I snarl the two words. “Did you just ask me what I think you did?”
“I’m going to take it as a no by your response,” he mutters and sighs.
“I just got off the phone with Mam after she asked me to book a flight for the jet to come out there and get Stella. She spoke with her yesterday and found out. She didn’t want to tell me, but I wasn’t booking anything without knowing the reason.
Mam convinced Stella to come home for a bit to clear her head.
Now, this would be great and all because I miss having Stella around here, but with this knowledge, things change. ”
The marriage contract would be what he’s talking about.
“The man she was supposed to marry refused to give up the contract for Stella, but now with her being pregnant with another man’s baby, I looked at the contract myself again just before calling you.
There’s a stipulation in there calling for her to be a virgin.
With her not being a virgin but pregnant, means the contract is nulled.
I’ll be breaking this news to him after I speak to you.
Then I’ll have to deal with what he’ll want next.
It could be he still demands her though. ”
“Fuck,” I growl harshly, stand from my chair and stalk away from the table and outside to finish this conversation. “Tell me who the fucker is.”
“Miles Nelson.”
I nod at the name, remembering it so I can ask Scythe or Styxx to look into the man. If he decides to still demand my little sister, then I’ll kill him. Which could end up bringing hell down on our club. I’ll need to talk to my brothers about this. Fill them in on the situation.
“Right, anything else I need to know?” I demand, grinding my teeth together.
“Not at the moment. Other than the fact I’m sending the jet for Stella . . .”
“No, you’re not. She’s staying here,” I declare. There’s no way I’m letting my sister get away from me. Not when I don’t know the situation, and on top of that, she’s pregnant.
The question now is, who the hell knocked her up, and why does she want to run away and hide?
I have a feeling something else is going on and I need to figure it out before it’s too late.
I won’t lose her. Stella and I are all we have left.
I may have Isabelle, and I’d do anything for my woman, but that doesn’t mean I won’t do anything for my sister as well.
Hell, I killed a man to protect her, and I’ll do it again if need be.
