Chapter 11
Chapter Eleven
Angel
Reaper pulls the phone from his ear and gives me a quick glance.
His brows are drawn together as he refocuses on the Russians we were meeting.
“Gentleman, I’ve got to apologize,” he starts.
“There’s a situation that we need to attend to immediately.
We’ll need to reconvene our meeting at a later date.
“I hope everything is okay,” Dusan Morozov states, seemingly genuine. We’ve been doing business with Dusan for years. He’s one of our distributors of stolen cars that ships overseas.
“I’ll be honest, no, it’s not, but it will be. We can handle it,” Reaper says, reaching out to shake Dusan’s hand before turning back to me and jerking his chin. Tombstone, Ghost, and Thanatos both move out as I follow my brother’s lead.
Outside the warehouse, we use for meetings, Reaper motions toward our bikes.
“What’s going on?” The question is met by silence for a second as Reaper straddles his bike.
Lifting his gaze to mine, he lands a blow I wasn’t expecting. “Diablo called, something’s happened to Stella. He was calling for help.”
His words circle in my head until I feel like it’ll explode, and I’m nearly seeing red as I move to straddle my own bike.
Something happened to my woman, and I wasn’t there to protect her.
Whoever hurt her will die tonight. My road name isn’t Death Angel for nothing.
I will reap death on anyone who comes to harm Stella and our child.
Roaring out of the parking lot, I head out, Reaper coming up next to me. Together with our brothers at our backs, we ride. Turning down the road leading to the clubhouse, we barely make it to the first curve before seeing the ambulance and a car I recognize as my woman’s.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
Pulling to the side of the road, I shove the kickstand down and hop off. I run toward the ambulance, a cop trying to stop me.
“Sir, you can’t—”
“Don’t tell me what I can do.” I snarl and point to the car. “That’s my fuckin’ woman.” I push past the cop and take off in a dead run, getting to the ambulance as they’re loading Stella into the back. Seeing the blood coating her face churns my stomach.
The paramedics bustle around Stella and let me climb in the back. They knew who I was just as they knew my woman. I’ve seen these guys before while visiting Stella at the hospital.
“She’s pregnant,” I announce, not taking my eyes off her.
Everything seems to go in slow motion, from the ride to the hospital to them taking her away from me. All I keep thinking about is the blood coating her face. The possibility that I could’ve lost her.
Knowing Stella, I don’t fight them when they stop me from following. I turn to my brothers as they join me, eyeing Diablo, I demand, “What the fuck happened? She was supposed to stay at the clubhouse. I told her to stay there.”
“Don’t know what happened, VP. But I saw her coming from your room looking upset not long after Juniper came from the same hallway, a look of satisfaction on her face and looking like she’d been fucked,” Diablo answers and grimaces.
“Something about Stella leaving didn’t sit right with me, so I followed her.
Car came around the curve and hit the front corner driver’s side.
Don’t know how she ended up against the tree as she did, but it’s a damn miracle. ”
“What about the other driver?” Reaper snarls.
“Already at the cabin under lock and key,” Hellhound answers through clenched teeth.
Nodding, I look at Reaper. “I’m taking care of Stella and making sure our kid will be okay.”
“Don’t worry, VP,” Reaper says, slapping a hand on my shoulder. “You know family comes first. We’ll make sure Stella and my niece or nephew are okay.”
“Right,” I mutter and look to Diablo, “Thanks for looking out for my woman.”
“It’s what we do for each other.” He shrugs.
“Maybe so, but instead of simply callin’, you did something more and made sure my woman was taken care of,” I said and look to back to the doors the paramedics took her through. Another question comes to mind. “What do you mean Juniper came from down the hall?”
“I don’t know, but she looked far too satisfied with herself,” Diablo answers.
“We’re going to find out,” Reaper growls. “Ivy told me what the bitch said a week ago, and I’ve already informed her I don’t want Juniper around the clubhouse anymore.”
Turning my attention back to Reaper, I glare. “What did she say?”
“Nothing to worry about right now, Angel. You’ve got to worry about other shit. Let me handle the rest.” The look he gives me is one of a brother who loves his brother but also as my Prez as well.
Just what I need. My Prez going into big brother mode. One thing I know about my brother is he doesn’t stand for anyone harming his family. If it were him in my shoes, I’d do the same for him, so I guess I’ll give him that play.
With a nod, I head for the waiting room. Hopefully, soon, someone will have answers if Stella will be okay or not.
