Chapter 18
Chapter Eighteen
Angel
“This is bullshit,” I snarl, standing to my feet as agents start to leave.
“Agreed,” Reaper sneers. “I don’t like this, and they better not have fucked up any of the shit in my room.
I nod and look at Hellhound. “Where’s Stella?” I demand, not seeing her. The agents had escorted the few PPs into the main room of the clubhouse and had them sit down, but Stella wasn’t asked.
“She’s in your room.” A frown crosses his face as he realizes what I have as well.
Taking off in a full out and out run, I race to my room, the door already thrown open. Drawers were left open and the bed was messier than normal with the covers on the floor. But what was missing was my woman.
“There’s no way she would’ve left,” I growl, anger building in my chest, and look to Hellhound, Tombstone, and Reaper, who all followed me. “She promised she wouldn’t leave.”
“She wouldn’t,” Hellhound agrees, nodding, his brows furrowed, and cocking his head to the side.
“Where the hell is she then? It’s not like she can fuckin’ disappear . . .” Reaper trails off, an enraged expression overcoming his face and he curses. Spinning on his heel, he rushes from the room.
Frowning, I follow him to his office, which seems to have been left alone ironically. “What’s going on?” I demand, watching as he moves to the safe sitting against the far wall.
“Remember when we lost Mom and Ronaele?”
“Not something I could forget even if I wanted to,” I mutter, not wanting to think of that day.
“Well,” Reaper grunts, opens the safe, and pulls something out before turning to me. “When Dad and Mom got together, Leo’s father came to him and said to always keep her safe. So, Dad had an escape route built for her in case it was ever needed.”
Moving to his desk, he rolls out a blueprint for the clubhouse.
“Wait a minute,” Tombstone snaps. “I thought they went out the back escaping.”
Thinking back to that night, I thought the same thing. They’d gotten out of here. If my other sister had been with them, she would have gone the same way, but she’d been out with friends that night.
“Why didn’t we know about this?” If I could clench my teeth any tighter, they’d probably be cracking.
Without looking up, Reaper examines the blueprint and points. “There.” He looks up and meets my gaze. “The access is in your room. Dad must’ve put it there because it would be less likely to be looked for in the VP’s bathroom, rather than the Prez’s room.”
“Makes sense.” I nod and focus on the blueprint, noticing a secondary escape exit. “Look, here’s another one in Tombstone’s room.” It’s set up along the wall behind where I know his bed is placed.
“What the fuck? How did we not know this shit?” Tombstone says.
“Honestly, I forgot this shit even existed and that’s on me,” Reaper breathes, lowering his head and shaking it.
“Not on you.” I clasp his shoulder, knowing my brother. “But who would’ve known about this?”
“Don’t know, but I’ll find out. Someone knows and that makes us vulnerable.” Anger nearly as strong as mine fills the room as he lifts his head. “Let’s see where the hell this lets out. They can’t be too far ahead of us.”
“Yeah. And when we find her and whoever dared to take Stella, he will die at my hands,” I say, my lip curling up in fury. I’m surprised at the fact I’m keeping my cool the way I am, but I’ll unleash it soon enough. I have to focus on Stella and getting her back.
“Whoever is behind this has to also be behind the raid,” Hellhound states.
“It was a setup. All of it. What better way to keep us occupied while they had all the time in the world to get her through that door,” I sneer, balling my hands into fists as everything comes together in my head.
Turning on my heel, I stalk out of Reaper’s office. I make my way into my room and go straight to the bathroom. According to the blueprint, the door should be in here. Now to find the opening for it.
I run my hands along the seams of the wall, feeling for anything that shouldn’t be. Close to the bottom right corner is a soft spot, and as I push in on it, the wall pops open.
“Shit,” I mutter, shaking my head. If I’d known about this, I’d have made sure it was sealed or something. I can see the point in my dad putting this here, but now, it’s the reason someone was able to get my ol’ lady.
Pushing it further in, I step into the darkness of what looks to be a tunnel. I don’t worry about anything else but getting through the damn thing and to wherever it ends. I rush through the dark, somewhat watching my steps along the way.
The only sounds filling my ears are my steps and the ones behind me.
After what feels like an eternity, I come to the end of the tunnel and find the latch, easily opening the door. Pushing through, I realize we’re at the hunting cabin.
“Motherfucker,” I snarl, stepping further into the damn place. Of course, this is where it would lead to.
But how did someone know about this place and a tunnel?
I make my way through the space, moving in silence in case they’re still here, finding the cabin empty of anyone but Claws, who doesn’t even speak up.
The closer I get to the cage we’ve kept her in until we can figure out what to do with her, I realize why she hasn’t said anything snarky. The bitch is dead.
“Fuck me,” Reaper growls, the sound almost animalistic. “Whoever this bastard is, is a dead man once we find ‘em.”
“That’s the question to remain, but we’ll get the answers soon enough. Remember Scythe and Styxx not only have cameras inside the cabin, they also got them surrounding it and have them throughout the woods all the way to the main road and on the trails,” Tombstone states.
Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I dial Styxx’s number.
“I’m already checking cameras, VP,” he answers before I get a word in edgewise.
“How’d you know?” I demand questioningly.
“Our contact in the police slipped a paper in my pocket when they were here,” he says. “You were already gone before I could tell you.”
“Right,” I mutter. “You got anything?”
“Yeah, and we’re right about a few things. Put me on speaker, you all need to hear this.”
Clenching the phone in my hand, I pull it away from my ear and touch the speaker key. “You’re on speaker. Now, tell us what the fuck we’re right about.”
“Juniper was at the cabin waiting for them to come through the doors. From the feed, it shows her talking to Claws, then raising a gun and putting a bullet neatly between Claws’s eyes. Shortly after, none other than Miles Nelson shows his face, his hand wrapped around Stella’s arm.”
My vision turns hazy, and it takes everything in me to keep from losing it. My woman is gone and in the hands of the bastard who held a contract of marriage for her.
“Find where he would take her,” I hear Reaper say, taking the phone from my hand.
Stepping toward the tunnel, I have only one thing on my mind. Getting Stella back.
