Epilogue

Everleigh

Smiling at those around me, I try my best to hide the pain that screams through my soul. I’m truly happy for both Stella and Angel on their newborn baby, same as I was for Ivy when she had the twins. Same for Sutton and her little one. And Isabelle.

They’ve all found their happily ever after, and I don’t hold it against them. They deserve to be happy and have everything they’ve ever wanted.

I simply wish I had my own happily ever after. But that’s not in the cards for me. I’ll never have what they do. Not because I don’t want to fight for it. I would if I could, but I can’t.

Just like I’ll never have a child of my own.

I did at one time, but my parents made sure to take even him away from me.

At sixteen, I had a baby—a little boy. I had his name and everything picked out for him.

But the day he was born, my parents ordered the nurse to take him from me without even giving me a chance to see his precious little face.

“You will not damn our family by having a child out of wedlock. He’s nothing more than a demon and you are never to see him again. I’ll make sure of it.” My mother’s words ring in my ears as I turn away from the happy couple and head for the door.

Their day doesn’t need to be tainted by the memories that haunt me to this day.

For years, I’ve searched and tried to find my son, but I’ve not had any luck.

It doesn’t help that my parents seem to think they control every aspect of my life, even with dating.

I’m finding myself more often than not trying to find an excuse as to why I can’t go on dates they set me up with.

The two of them are bound and determined to make sure my life is hell.

If I could escape them and the life they’re determined to force on me, I would do so in a heartbeat. I know the two of them are up to something, but I just don’t know what yet. Most people call them religious freaks. God knows if they only knew.

Growing up in their home was nearly unbearable, especially after they all but stole my son from me.

No one knows about my baby and what I’ve lost. I’ve kept it that way, and I intend to keep my secret even now.

It’s not easy to do and keep a smile on my face all at the same time.

What makes it worse is seeing the man who I fantasize about with his own child.

The questions come to mind, and I hate myself for allowing them to filter through my head to begin with.

Maybe it’s time to give in to my parents and let them have their way.

It’s not like they haven’t done enough to make my life miserable.

The only good thing I’ve had is my best friends, and now they’ve all started to find their happiness.

Being around them is becoming harder by the day as I envy them for what they have and I won’t ever have.
