Chapter 5
Chapter Five
Everleigh
The rain comes beating down on me and yet I refuse to go inside. It’s been a week on the road, and instead of stopping in Corpus Christi as I thought of doing, I kept going. I didn’t stop until I hit the East Coast. The only time I stopped was when I needed to fill up and the one time to rest.
Once I reached South Carolina, I decided to stop for a couple of days. I heard the weather was gonna get bad and I didn’t want to be driving through it. I figured since I stopped at a motel along the beach, I’d spend some time soaking it all in. Although, it’s not the same without my friends.
I’m sure by now, they know I’m gone. There’s no way they don’t.
I only hope they don’t come looking for me as I asked them not to.
I can’t let them get involved in my mess.
Besides, along with them probably knowing I’ve left town, my parents and uncle know as well.
And they’ll send one of the men who work underneath them for me.
A shiver runs down my spine as the wind whips around, blowing my hair out behind me away from my back.
I wrap my boho purple cardigan tighter to me and stay where I sit.
I’m not ready to go back inside. The motel I picked isn’t bad, but that doesn’t mean it’s the greatest either.
Still, it works for what I need it for. I just want a little bit more time to watch the waves.
So many times in the past week, I’ve contemplated calling one of the girls or Daemon. Mostly Daemon. I hope he finally understands why I couldn’t let him be with me more than I already did.
God knows the very thought of something happening to him, as it did to Case, would destroy me in ways nothing else could. Having lost a part of me already, I can’t lose any more.
The wind picks up and I sigh, knowing it’s time to head inside.
I stand and brush the sand from my bottom and spin on my heels to make my way up to the motel.
When I decided to stop here, I knew I was going to have to use a card to secure the room, but instead of using one with my name, I used the one with Ivy’s.
She’d given it to me a long time ago and said just in case it was needed.
It came in handy this time around as it kept me from having to find somewhere else to stay.
I make it up to the room and pull out the key card. I wait for the door to do its unlocking thing and I get the green light to enter. As I step into the room, I immediately come to a halt at the sight that meets my eyes.
Daemon.
He’s sitting on the edge of the bed, flipping through the photo album I’d brought in with me. It’s filled with pictures of the past year. Quite a few of them are of him, him and his son, and a couple where we’re in the picture together.
“What are you doing here?” The words come out on a whispered breath.
“Could say the same thing,” he says, his eyes locked on me as he places the book on the bed next to him. He drops his gaze long enough to see that I’m soaking wet and reconnects eye contact. “Close the door, sugar.”
I do so without even thinking, my mind reeling over the fact he’s here. How did he find me?
Slowly Daemon comes to his feet and walks toward me. When he’s close enough, he cups either side of my face in his hands. With him being so much taller than me, I come only to this chest and have to tilt my head back to keep his gaze.
“You’re in a lot of trouble, sugar,” he rasps, soothing his thumb on one hand along my cheek.
“You shouldn’t be here,” I blurt and step back, away from his touch, only to press against the door.
“Everleigh, you should know better,” he tsks and steps into my space. He grips the side of my cardigan and starts to push it over my shoulders. “Let’s get you out of these wet clothes then we’ll talk.”
“There’s nothing to talk about.” Seeing him and knowing I have to push him away hurts my heart in so many ways. All I want is to throw myself in his arms and beg him to hold me. “You need to go. There’s no point in you being here.
“Oh, baby, we’ve got a lot to talk about, but first, we’re gonna get you out of these wet clothes.”
“Daemon,” I start to protest, but I don’t get to finish because he lowers his lips to mine and takes the opportunity to slide his tongue in my mouth.
The cardigan slips the rest of the way down and drops to the floor.
Daemon deepens the kiss, dominating my mouth as he’s never done before.
Between my legs, I’m already aching for him.
Hell, I’m always needy when it comes to this man, and I can’t help it.
He’s hot, sexy, and simply godly looking.
I don’t care what anyone else thinks. He’s perfect in every way, and that makes my body warm in ways it’s never done for any other man.
Granted other than Case, Daemon is the only guy I’ve been with.
Daemon drops his hands to my hips, his mouth tilting to deepen the kiss further as he slides his fingers down until he’s palming my ass in his hands.
With a squeeze, he lifts me until I’ve no choice but to wrap my legs around him and hold on tight.
The next moment, my back is pressed into the bed and he breaks his lips from mine.
Daemon pulls away enough to strip my shirt from me and my bra goes with it.
My pants are quick to be removed before he settles in between my open thighs.
The pressure of him pressing into my core has a moan passing my lips.
“Told you, sugar, we’re getting you out of those wet clothes,” he rasps and grinds himself against me.
“Daemon,” I gasp, clutching at the comforter beneath me to keep from touching him.
The look in his eyes has my core weeping with need.
He reaches between us and cups me. “You know I’ve always loved the fact you don’t wear panties.
” The husky tone of his voice vibrates through me.
Inserting a finger, he curls it hitting a spot that always does it for me, and I come undone. I can’t wait for more. Not now.
I release the comforter and palm either side of his face and pull him down to capture his lips with mine.
Everything seems to go up in flames from there within one breath, and the next, Daemon is inside me, thrusting himself to the hilt. He doesn’t stop to allow me to adjust to his size. He takes me wild, fast, and hard. I love it.
I slide my hands to span across his shoulders and dig my nails in as he takes me there giving me the release that I’ve ached for, for so long. Soon after he’s groaning into the kiss joining me as his own release washes through him spurting inside me.
Only when the last of his release leaves him, Daemon breaks away from the kiss to roll us until he’s on his back and I’m straddling his waist. “Fuckin’ missed you,” he growls, cupping the side of my face.
I close my eyes, savoring those words because I’ve missed him too. “Daemon.” His name’s no more than a breath on my lips.
Daemon bolts upright and surrounds me in his embrace.
He presses his forehead to mine and simply holds me.
The next thing out of his mouth shocks me and scares me at the same time.
“I’m not letting you get away from me again, Everleigh.
You’re fuckin’ mine and I’m making damn sure no one can take you away.
You’re done taking this shit on by yourself.
I know what happened to you and I’m so fuckin’ sorry they did that to you.
And for that, I’ll be damned if they take any more from you. ”
“Daemon, you—”
“Don’t try to argue with me about it,” he says, emphasizing each word. “Now we’re gonna get up, shower, clean up, and then we’ll talk more about what’s gonna happen with you and me.”
I’m not sure if I should be upset or not at his words, but one thing I know is my body reacts to the idea of something happening between the two of us and so does my heart.
