Epilogue

Beast

Staring across the clubhouse, I watch the ol’ ladies surround Bristol with their warmth and friendship. I haven’t really seen her since she got out of the hospital. She refused to see me. She told me to leave, and I did.

I didn’t want to, but I knew she needed time to heal. I figured I’d give her time to overcome what happened to her at the hands of Porter. No matter how much I wanted to be there for her. She at least let the club take care of her.

Reaper put her in his house with him, Ivy, and their twins. Far as I know, this is the first time she’s been out, and that means she’s healing. Right?

I tilt my beer to my lips and swallow several mouthfuls, finishing off the cool brew. With a little more force than normal, I slam the bottle on the bar top and motion for Gizmo to get me another one.

Tonight, Gremlin is getting his cut, though he’s said more than once he thinks he doesn’t deserve it, but he does.

It wasn’t on him what happened to Josephine and that fucker Porter getting his hands on her.

He’d been tased. The moment he came to, he did right.

Now he’s going to be one of us and lose the shit name we’d given him.

The club voted that he was to be Serpent.

Until later, the ol’ ladies are around, and kids are either in seats or toddling and crawling around. Some are being held by my brothers. Things have definitely changed around here, and there’s nothing wrong with it. It actually feels damn good.

But it won’t be for me.

The woman I want doesn’t even want me around her. Maybe it’s time I decided to go on the road for a while. Take some time to get my own head together with what she’s been through. Either way, she’s gone to me, no matter what I want.

I think that’s exactly what I’ll do. Get out of here for a while.

See if I can’t help the club with pinpointing where the Scarlet Needles are.

Those fuckers put a contract out to take some of the women, like Stella, and I don’t want the club hurt any more than it already has been.

It’s time that group was put in the ground once and for all.
