Chapter 1

BENIAMINO

C ecil put out his Cuban and leaned back in his chair. “What's it gonna be, DeLuca?”

I had the upper hand here and while I'd come out like a big fat pig who finally got his belly full, there was a catch. Cecil owned the new storefront that Massimo wanted. It would be an add on to the restaurant. Cecil was about to give it to me for free, but he wanted something in return. He just hadn't admitted to it yet.

“What do you want, Cecil?”

He smiled. “For us to be a family. That's all.”

If he thought I was letting his freaky ass marry my sister, he was wrong. I knew about the wild ass parties he threw and that he didn't discriminate about who he let in his bed. I'll be damned if he let his “around the world and back again” dick inside my beloved sister. He was for the streets, and my sister was a good girl. No motherfucking way.

“Come again?” I scratched my nose and dared him with my eyes to say something that got him so far down in the river he'd sprout sea moss from his ass.

“I have a sister…” he began and I folded my arms to hear this bullshit.

“Met her. Not interested.” I scoffed.

“Not Cindy. She's a different half-sister.”

“Mhm…”

“She's into some shit. She won't tell me what's going on but I know the guy. He's a piece of shit. He also works for the guy that supplies me with clientele for the merchandise I move.”

He meant the women and girls he smuggled in for trafficking.

“So?”

“So, I'd rather not rock the boat. I figured if we told him that your brother was going to marry her, it'd be fine. It was orchestrated by our fathers. An arranged marriage.”

“It wasn't though.” I squinted at the bullshit he was poppin’ off.

“It was. I didn't want to bring this up because it was old news.” Cecil slid me an agreement and I took a deep breath before I read it.

They called the agreement an Ace in the Hole. Inside the document George Ricci named his five children. Two sons and three daughters. Next, Tommaso listed his children and I stopped short when I saw six names. Beniamino, Tammaro, Massimo, Dante, Christoph, and Martina.

“Can I keep this?” I asked him.

“Yeah, it's your copy. I have the original tucked away.” He smirked.

“It won't be Max.” I said to him, defending my right hand.

“He just needs to be a DeLuca.” He raised his head, not cowering away.

“I'll get back to you.” I turned and left his warehouse, getting in the car where Tammaro and Massimo waited.

“What was this meeting about?” Massimo asked immediately.

“This…” I handed the paper to him and loosened my tie as the car pulled away.

My father was the worst fucking man on the planet. Not only had he cheated on our mother to have another family in Italy, producing Tammaro, but now there were another two kids out there. He'd never mentioned any of this to me and it was a blow to the gut to find out this way.

“Yolanda recently told me that there was a Dante in the case file she saw on me.” Ro said.

“Call her.” I growled.

He did and after he briefed her, he put her on speaker. I explained about the issue with the property first.

“I'm pulling up the property now. Whoa… looks like Eli Ricci owns the left side and the right belongs to Cecil.” The right was what we wanted. “The middle belongs to Martina DeLuca.”

“That’s right.” I confirmed. “Ro mentioned you had a case file on him. It mentioned Dante DeLuca?”

“Your brother? Yes, what about him?”

“What information did it list?”

“Nothing besides his address.” She yawned.

“Can you text that to Ro, please?” I asked her.

“Sure. Whatever is going on, I don't wanna know.” She hung up the phone quickly and moments later a text pinged Ro's phone. The address was local. I don't know why I was expecting another country.

“Is that where we're going?” Massimo asked.

“Yeah, I want to get a good look at this guy.” I sighed wondering what the fuck I was going to say to this guy. Congratulations, you're getting married, you bastard.

The ride was quiet. I knew one thing, I hoped Dante wasn’t going to give me a tough time with this arrangement. Like it or not, he was going to marry her.

My thoughts raced as we drove towards Dante’s address. Meeting a brother I never knew existed wasn’t on my agenda today, but it seemed like nothing ever went as planned in this family. I glanced at the paper with Dante’s name on it, a mix of anger and curiosity bubbling inside me. Whatever he was like, whatever kind of life he’d been living, he was about to be dragged into the DeLuca world—no ifs, ands, or buts. And whether he knew it or not, he was about to play a crucial role in a game far bigger than himself.
