Chapter 34
Mia
When Mason knocks on the bedroom door, I dramatically hug Bianca, refusing to let go.
“You can’t leave,” I whine. “I just got you back.”
She giggles, hugging me back just as tight as she calls out, “Come in!”
Mason opens the door and chuckles when he sees our embrace.
Killian’s behind him in the doorway, and he smirks at me, but his eyes are full of warmth and compassion as he looks at the two of us.
“I’m glad you’re both reunited,” he says. “I know you missed each other.”
“Give me two minutes,” Bianca says now to Mason, and he nods, giving me a quick wave as he leaves the room with Killian.
“Tomorrow’s going to be fine,” Bianca reassures me, squeezing my hands supportively. “I promise.”
I nod, swallowing nervously. “I know. I just want this to be over with.”
“You and me both.”
“You’re probably so jet lagged,” I tell her, and she rolls her eyes.
“What?” I ask. “Are you?”
“I’m fine,” she says, shaking her head. “I literally sat on the beach the entire month of December almost. I’ve never had so much downtime in my life before.”
I giggle, a feeling of warmth spreading through me.
“You deserve it,” I tell her, bumping my hip into hers.
She grins at me. “So do you.”
“Me and Killian had a rocky start, but I’m very, very happy.”
“I’m so glad,” she says, hugging me again. “Once Angelo is out of the picture, we’re going to be together twenty-four seven. What are the odds that our guys’ are friends? Like Killian works for Mason and Asher. That’s wild.”
I nod in agreement. “It is kind of crazy.”
“It’s fate,” she says. Then her grin widens as she says, “We made our alternate universe theories come true. We must’ve jumped a timeline or something.”
I giggle, shaking my head as the two of us make our way out of my room.
“Yeah?” I tease her, and she sticks her tongue out at me.
“We did! Sometimes I have to just pinch myself because I feel like all of this is dream.”
I hug her again once we get to the door.
“You deserve the world, and I’m so happy that you found Mason.”
“I love you so much,” she says, hugging me back. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Happy Birthday,” I reply, and she rolls her eyes again.
“You’re such a brat,” I say, shaking my head. “It is your birthday weekend.”
“My birthday is on Sunday,” she retorts, and I giggle, playfully pushing her.
“She is a brat, isn’t she?” Mason asks, coming up behind us.
Bianca just gazes up at him, and I can’t help but feel so much love and happiness for her. She truly found a good one.
We say goodbye one last time, and then I shut and lock the door behind them.
I turn to face Killian, who wraps his arms around my waist.
“I love seeing you happy like that,” he says, beaming at me. “It makes me happy.”
I can feel tears welling up in my eyes and I blink them away.
“I’m so fucking happy for her,” I admit. “She’s truly the sweetest soul, and she deserves the world. I’m so glad she found Mason. And I’m so glad that we were reunited.”
“Me too, Kitten,” Killian says, kissing the top of my head.
The two of us start walking back towards the bedroom, and I ask, “You guys feel good about tomorrow?”
“We’re good,” he reassures me. “We’ve got this.”
I nod, trying to push away any lingering anxiety that I feel. I trust Killian, and I trust the guys.
Everything is going to be fine. In forty-eight hours at this time, Angelo won’t even be here anymore, hopefully.
That thought makes me feel better as me and Killian start getting ready for bed.
I honestly just want to get this whole thing over with. I’ll feel better once the party is over, and Angelo is gone.
I don’t let myself think about the fact that he might possibly not take the bait. I can’t mentally go there.
We’ve got this, I think, repeating Killian’s words to myself.
Everything is going to be fine.
Tomorrow can’t come soon enough.
