Chapter 30
Caterina
I walked out of Roman’s office and back to the table with a grin spread wide on my face.
Everyone who was here to watch our spectacle on the dance floor knew exactly what we were doing, but it wasn’t any of their business.
I had my beautiful, needy wife that desperately needed relief, and I did just that.
“I’ll have to watch that tape later,” Vera teased. I didn’t know if they actually had cameras in there or if she was fooling around, but I would play into her delusion.
“You better ask for Harlow’s consent first.”
Her eyes grew in shock, thinking I would fuss about it.
I didn’t care personally because again, she would only watch.
I got to experience it, but it would be a breach of trust if I allowed it without her knowledge.
My wife was beautiful, and while I was possessive, Harlow was her own person and could do whatever she wanted.
I texted Harlow and told her that when she was ready, we could head home. There was a list of things I wanted to do to my wife, and it didn’t involve clothes or a crowd of strangers. I wanted to enjoy the last couple nights, making her smile and experiencing the city she and her mom dreamt about.
If I could make miracles happen, I would find a way to make Harlow’s pain vanish and bring back her mom while keeping our future.
It would be a different love story than the one we have, but I wanted Harlow in every lifetime.
I never thought I would find the other half of my soul when my own soul was a dark, cavernous abyss.
Harlow was the other part of my soul, the missing piece I needed in my life.
Roman answered his phone, and his back straightened as he looked around the club. “Find him.” He hung up the phone and sighed. “Pavel said one of the men who got kicked out earlier managed to worm his way back in, and they couldn’t find him.”
Harlow said she was on her way, but that was a couple minutes ago. Paranoia wasn’t my forte, but when it came to Harlow, I wanted to make sure she was safe. “Shit.” I leaped up and beelined for his office when I heard a grunt.
I saw Harlow struggling against the same man who harassed her and Vera earlier.
I should have put a goddamn bullet through his head.
As I grabbed my gun, Harlow got the upper hand and kneed him in the groin which caused him to cry out in agony before he collapsed to the ground.
Harlow kicked him again, harder now that she had better access.
“Learn. What. NO. Means. Asshole!” she huffed before looking at me. There was blood on her face from his nail, and marks on her chest where I assumed he clawed at her dress since her right sleeve was ripped.
“He touched you.” It was a statement, not a question.
“He swarmed me when I was coming to see you, and I told him to leave me alone. He said a mouthy bitch should only be doing one thing, and he tried to get me on my knees.” Anger soared through my veins as I grabbed my gun.
“I slapped him, but then he back handed me, pushed me against the wall, and tried ripping my dress. I wasn’t going to let anyone else make me a victim. ”
I pointed my gun at his head, looking at Roman.
It was a courtesy because I was in his club, but I knew he wouldn’t give a shit.
I pulled the trigger, and the man fell to the floor dead.
“Remind me to kill anyone who even thinks about hurting you.” I stepped over his body and closer to her, making sure she was okay before I wiped the blood from her lip. “I never should have left you.”
She looked at me with anger in her honey hues that flashed with softness for me. “I shouldn’t need you to protect me everywhere I go. I need men to learn how to take no for an answer.”
“Are you okay?”
She nodded, resting her head against my chest. “Yeah. I’m okay. I thought I would panic, but I was more annoyed than anything.”
I looked at Roman. “Sorry for the mess, but I am going to take my wife home.”
“Of course.”
I pushed the hotel door open, and Harlow immediately stripped out of the dress and beelined for the bathroom. “I want naked kisses in the shower, please.” Her wish was my command.
Harlow quickly stepped into the shower as I stripped out of my clothes to join her. When I stepped into the shower, she pushed me against the wall and slammed her lips to mine. They were desperate and needy kisses, but I let her take control. She could use me for whatever she needed.
When she pulled away, she rested her forehead on mine. “I love you. Thank you for being my anchor.”
“I love you too, bellissima. More than you will ever know. What do you need from me?”
“I just need you.” She leaned back, letting the water wet her hair.
I grabbed the shampoo bottle and squirted a hefty amount on my hand.
Harlow turned her back to me as I scrubbed the shampoo into her hair.
I went through the process of washing her hair before grabbing my loofa and scrubbing her skin with my body wash.
When she was clean, I kissed her shoulder.
We stayed in silence as the steam enveloped us before Harlow turned the water off and kissed my lips.
After we were dry, we crawled into bed together as Harlow curled into my arms.
“When we get home, can you show me how to shoot?” she asked.
“Of course. Are you sure you want to learn?”
She nodded. “Yeah. I didn’t panic with him, but I did with Xavier. I was able to use my training in the club, but not when I could’ve saved Lizzy and myself. If I have a gun, I feel like I would be able to shoot them first and ask questions later.”
“If that is what you want, we can do target practice. I’ll have Malachi and Natalya help because they were the ones who trained me. Natalya can shoot someone from fifty yards.”
“Vera told me she became an assassin to help find Roman’s sister.”
“Yeah. She wanted to help find Anya, but no one could, so they assumed the worst.”
Harlow frowned. “Everyone assumes the worst, but she could be alive, just trapped like I was.” She had a point.
I needed to talk to Roman and see if they did an investigation into anyone, even their allies.
I knew their father searched long and hard for his only daughter, but nothing ever happened so the family gave up to ease the heartache.
“I’ll talk to Roman. Are you feeling okay? Do you need anything from me?”
“Only you and this.”
