Chapter 52 Harlow

Harlow

It felt like an eternity passed, but I knew it’d only been a few days.

Maybe another week. I was trapped, and it seemed like I was hidden from civilization because no one had found me yet.

If they were still searching, they weren’t looking hard enough—or maybe Vincenzo was holding me somewhere that wasn’t New York or Chicago.

He would do that. It would also explain his paranoia.

He was more disheveled and panicked as the days went by.

He was angry, and I was positive it was because of what he did to Caterina.

Her father was pissed with good reason. Vincenzo took his wife, and now his daughter from him.

Alexander experienced too much pain in his life, and now he had to mourn and avenge not only his wife, but his daughter as well.

I wanted to give up, but I knew I needed to be strong for her, for Serenity and for Alexander.

He was my father, too. He might not be blood, but he treated me better than my own father ever treated me.

I would survive, and we would avenge Caterina together.

Vincenzo would pay for taking away the person who made this world brighter.

Even if his torment took another piece of my soul, I needed to fight and stay strong. I had angels that needed me.

“You are mine!” His fist connected with my stomach, taking the breath from my lungs. “You’re mine.” He grabbed my face. “You just need to love me.”

I jerked away from him. “I’ll never love you!” I would fight him. He wouldn’t kill me. The pain was what I felt my entire life. “If you loved me, you wouldn’t be doing this. You wouldn’t treat me like this. And you wouldn’t have killed my mother!”

He caressed my cheek. “Your mother is alive.”

Alive?

No she couldn’t be. He told me she died because a customer got too handsy. Why would he lie to me? Eight years. I thought she was dead for eight years, but she was alive this whole time?

Vincenzo laughed seeing the shock on my face. “N-No. You said she died.”

He bellowed before smacking me hard, making my head turn violently to the side. Blood filled my mouth from the reopened busted lip. “Stupid girl. She is alive. I needed her gone so I could have you without any issues. You’re mine. Your father made a deal the moment you were born.”

I cringed. Was that why my father didn’t have any more children? I didn’t understand why he didn’t have more when Mom wanted more. Vincenzo laughed again, seeing the realization on my face. “H-He had me because of you?”

“Your father’s family had a lot of debt. He didn’t help it. He sabotaged the condom and got your mother pregnant. Lucky for her, you were a girl.”

“You still took us. Why, Vincenzo? You said you loved me. So why do you hurt me? Why did you let your men hurt me?”

His hand went to the back of my throat. “Business first, baby, but now I have you again. You’re all mine. Forever. Now it’s time to get that baby inside of you. Start our family and leave. We’re going to Brazil.”

My stomach dropped. “My mom, Vincenzo. Where is she?”

“It doesn’t matter. You’ll never see her again. Be a good girl for your husband, and maybe she’ll be able to see her grandchild.”
