Lucas

I wake up with an unfamiliar warmth in my chest, a feeling I havent experienced in far too long. Its been two weeks since Sienna and Lily arrived, and the domesticity of it all is both foreign and strangely comforting.

Their presence has brought a lightness into my life that I had forgotten existed. I catch myself smiling more, laughing even something that used to be a rare occurrence for me.

Waking up to take Lily to the Amusement Park today is more exciting than winning a hundred-thousand-dollar commission. Who would have thought that Lucas Hollister would find such joy in something as simple as spending time with a six-year-old and her mother?

I head downstairs, and there she is dressed and bouncing with energy. "Well, dont you look ready for adventure?" I say, unable to suppress the grin spreading across my face.

"Im super ready!" she exclaims, her bright blue eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "Are we going to ride the BIG rides today?"

"You know it," I assure her, ruffling her blonde pigtails affectionately. "But first, we need to ask your mom if shes ready for a fun day too."

I turn to Sienna, who has just emerged from the kitchen, and even in a simple sundress and minimal makeup, she is breathtakingly beautiful. I cross the room and plant a soft kiss on her lips. "Morning," She smiles up at me, her whiskey-brown eyes warm with affection. "Good morning to you too. I see someones excited for the park."

"We both are," I confess, surprising myself with my candor. "Shall we?"

Lily cheers, grabbing both our hands and practically dragging us towards the door. As we make our way to the car, I marvel at how natural this all feels the three of us, like a family unit. Its a role I never imagined myself in, and yet, I find myself craving more of these simple moments.

The drive to the park is filled with Lilys endless chatter and infectious laughter. I steal glances at Sienna, my heart swelling at the sight of her radiant smile. For the first time in years, I feel truly alive, like a man reborn.

Not too long later, I watch as Sienna and Lily race towards the towering rides, their faces alight with excitement. A part of me longs to join them, to recapture that childlike sense of wonder and abandon. But another part the one that reminds me that I am 48 years old holds me back.

"Come on, Lucas!" Lily calls out, waving her little hand enthusiastically. "Lets go on the big rolly coaster!"

I chuckle, shaking my head. "I think Ill pass on that one, kiddo. You go ahead and have fun with your mom."

Sienna shoots me an amused look over her shoulder. "Whats the matter, big guy? Scared of a little thrill ride?"

Her teasing tone ignites a familiar spark of challenge within me. I arch an eyebrow, fighting back a smirk. "Hardly. I just prefer to keep my feet on solid ground, thats all."

With a playful roll of her eyes, Sienna takes Lilys hand, and they disappear into the line for the massive roller coaster. I settle onto a nearby bench, content to watch their exhilaration from afar.

Time seems to slow as I drink in the sight of them and a warmth blooms in my chest, a feeling I cant quite put into words. All I know is that I want to bask in this moment forever, to etch it into my memory and never let it fade.

Before long, theyre back, flushed with excitement and practically vibrating with energy.

"Did you see us, Lucas? Did you see how fast we went?" Lily gushes, bouncing on the balls of her feet.

I scoop her up, unable to resist her infectious enthusiasm. "I sure did! You two looked like you were having a blast up there."

"It was so much fun!" she exclaims, her eyes shining. "But now, you have to go on the bumper cars with us.!"

I glance at Sienna, who offers me a mischievous grin. "You heard the little lady. Time to step up and show us what youve got, Hollister."

Lily cheers, wriggling out of my arms and grabbing my hand, practically dragging me towards the colorful bumper car arena. I shoot Sienna a helpless look, but she merely shrugs.

Before I know it, Im strapped into my own little car, the vibrant colors and flashing lights disorienting me for a moment. Sienna and Lily share a car across the way, their faces split into matching grins of pure delight.

The bell rings, and suddenly, were off a chaotic flurry of colliding cars and peals of laughter. I join in, and my usual composure melts away as I chase after Sienna and Lily, playfully bumping their car with mine.

Lily shrieks with glee, her giggles ringing out like music to my ears. In this moment, everything else fades away the noise, the chaos, the world beyond our little bubble. All that matters is the three of us, lost in a moment of pure, unadulterated happiness.

Even as the cars slow to a stop, the warmth in my chest remains, a constant reminder of the profound impact these two extraordinary ladies are having on my life.

I carry a sleeping Lily back to the guest bedroom, her little head nestled against my shoulder. Shes completely tuckered out after our fun day at the park. As I gently lay her down on the soft sheets, she stirs slightly, her eyes fluttering open.

"Lucas?" she murmurs drowsily.

"Shh, its okay, sweetheart. Just go back to sleep," I soothe, brushing a few stray blonde locks from her face.

She offers me a sleepy smile before her eyes drift shut again. I linger for a moment, then I quietly slip out of the room and make my way back to the living area. Sienna is seated on the couch, nursing a glass of wine. She looks up as I approach her.

"Shes out like a light," I murmur, taking the seat beside her.

Sienna nods, a fond smile playing on her lips. "Thats my girl she can sleep anywhere after a day of fun." Her gaze meets mine. "Thank you for today, Lucas. For being so wonderful with her."

I wave off her gratitude, suddenly feeling uncharacteristically bashful. "No need to thank me. Spending time with Lily is..." I trail off, struggling to find the right words. "Its been more rewarding than I could have imagined."

Her smile widens, and she reaches out to give my hand a gentle squeeze. "Still, I cant thank you enough for opening your home to us these past few weeks. I dont know how I would have managed without you."

Her words send a pang through my chest as Im reminded that this living arrangement this unexpected little family weve formed is only temporary. The thought of not having Sienna and Lilys radiant presence in my life fills me with a sense of dread I cant quite shake.

"You know, you two dont have to leave so soon," I blurt out before I can stop myself. "The repairs on your place could take a while longer. Theres no need to rush off."

Siennas expression softens, but she shakes her head. "As wonderful as this has been, we cant impose on you forever. We need to get back to our own home soon."

My heart constricts at her words, and I find myself grasping for any excuse to keep them here with me to hold onto this bliss for just a little while longer.

"Sienna..." I begin, my voice thick with an emotion I cant quite identify. "These past few weeks have been... incredible. You and Lily, youve both brought something into my life that I didnt even realize was missing." I take a deep breath, steeling my nerves. "What Im trying to say is... I dont want this to end. Not yet."

Her eyes widen, and I can see the surprise flickering across her beautiful features. But theres something else there too a glimmer of hope, of longing.

"Lucas, are you...?" She trails off

"Im asking you to give us a chance," I affirm. "A real chance, Sienna. I know our situation is complicated, and I know Im not exactly the kind of man you ever saw yourself with. But these past few weeks have shown me that we could have something truly special something worth fighting for."

I reach out, cupping her face in my palm. Her skin is soft and warm against my calloused hand.

"You dont have to decide anything right now," I murmur. "Just... think about it, okay? Give me a chance to show you that I can be the man you and Lily deserve."

For a long moment, Sienna is silent, her gaze locked with mine. Then, slowly, a radiant smile spreads across her face a smile so bright and beautiful that it takes my breath away.

"You dont have to convince me, Lucas," she whispers. " I want this toobut Wow! You really surprised me!

And with those words, she leans in and captures my lips in a searing kiss a kiss that speaks of passion, longing, and the promise of so much more to come.
