Chapter 61
Chapter
Sixty-One
Typing on my computer, I frowned. I was working through the current finances of I had and everything that happened while I was not of the right mind.
Ebony had drained my normal bank account.
The purchases were extensive, and the rental of the villa in Fiji was astronomical for the weeks we stayed there.
It didn’t put a dent in the other accounts I had, but it was a sizable amount.
On top of that, I now owned land without a house on it.
I had flown down with Colton to see the remnants of my house.
There was nothing. The fire completely burned it to the ground.
The elements of the house that normally wouldn’t burn also melted into the mess of what used to be our home.
Colton sifted through the ash, but there wasn’t anything left to find.
It was well past the time I could try to speak with the insurance about it. I just didn’t own a house anymore. I could rebuild it back up, but I didn’t know if Colton wanted that. Not after everything that happened. I didn’t know if I wanted that.
Everything felt wrong. Being near the city.
Being in that location. It all felt tainted and wrong.
Home felt like my parents’ house now. I knew Colton didn’t want to stay there, but I didn’t know what he was planning, so I just let it go.
My parents didn’t mind; I knew that for sure.
They loved Colton and Kayla. They were still trying to drop hints that they wanted us to stay and join the flight, but Colton said nothing else about it.
Arms wrapped around me, and I leaned my head against my little wolf. He rested his chin on my shoulder, looking over my computer. Whistling, he pointed out the amount taken out for the villa.
“That’s crazy!”
I nodded, frowning. “Yeah, I should have added compensation to the list of things we wanted from Dark Night. I didn’t realize how much she had used.”
“Is everything else okay? She didn’t drain your other accounts?”
He shook his head. “No. Nothing else was touched. Thankfully. I’ve been going over everything and trying to straighten out the businesses. Keith hasn’t done much with them other than the bare minimum. It’s going to take a couple of weeks to get everything straightened out.”
Colton sighed. “I can help if you want. I’m not good with business stuff, but I can organize.”
My eyebrow rose, and I turned my head. “Aren’t you starting classes this semester?”
His face fell, and I turned fully toward him. “I didn’t…I withdrew.”
“You withdrew…from this quarter or the school.”
“The school.”
I blinked, unsure of what I was hearing. He had been so focused on school. I thought since I came back, we would be fine. It seemed like he had decided this a while ago. Maybe even before I came to.
Reaching out, I took his head in my hands.
“I can cover your schooling if you need that, Colt. I’m here now, so I can take over having Kayla more.
” I chuckled hollowly. “Ebony made a mess of my resignation, and it looks like I had tried to fix it, but it’s still an absolute disaster.
I’m going to have to speak with the board about what happened if I want to put them on my resume moving forward. ”
He shook his head. “I just…I’m not ready. Kayla is still so needy and I just got you back. I’d need to go full time to still cover my scholarship. I can’t do that. Not right now. There is so much going on. Plus…that school…”
Colton didn’t need to voice his feelings. We were both feeling the same thing. It was tainted. Sighing, I turned back to my computer and nodded.
“Then we push forward. When you want to start school again, tell me and we can look into colleges again. We have time. Lots of it.” I smirked. “If you want, we can have a handful of hatchlings before…”
“Absolutely not.” He slapped my shoulder after getting up. “Not happening anytime soon, Mar.”
I laughed. “I mean, soon can be within the next five years.”
He hummed, and I turned around again. Colton winked at me before heading to the door of my dad’s office that I had been using.
“Candy and Ty are headed off. They are spending the night at Lauren and Beau’s to watch the kids. They are heading off to a job for the weekend.”
“So we have the house to ourselves?”
He snorted. “We have Kayla to ourselves.”
I laughed and nodded. “Got it. I’ll be up in a second. I want to finish these emails.”
Leaving the door open, I watched him leave before looking at my computer.
My frown reflected at me on the screen. I didn’t think he would give up his schooling.
Especially since he pushed so hard and finished the winter session with all A’s again.
I couldn’t imagine the pain he went through to get through the class, let alone getting A’s in everything.
Chuckling, I shook my head. Now, technically, we were both jobless, had a daughter, homeless, and now Colton was a college dropout.
The absurdity of how hard our lives took a turn was crazy.
We had nothing other than each other. I had the businesses, which would always be a fallback for me, but they didn’t bring in nearly as much as I wanted to support my family.
Rubbing my eyes, I would need to look for a job.
Even if it was teaching online classes, I could do that.
Maybe I would reach out to the college I was teaching at in England.
They might let me work remotely for a couple of classes.
Not for the Fall Semester, it was too late for that and I didn’t want to put that pressure on Colton, but maybe for Spring.
I finished the last email before closing my laptop and heading into the house.
It was quiet, and I walked up the stairs.
Lately, I’ve been getting a better sense of where my mate is.
I could feel him in the nursery. His humming filled my ears, and I smiled as he rocked Kayla while he paced the room.
She seemed to be going down, and he was doing his best to get her there.
This little one had been refusing a sleep schedule in favor of food. Peter had actually been the one who refused the sleep schedule, but it wasn’t for food. He just didn’t want to sleep during the night. Colton saw me and smiled.
Moving around him quietly, I cleaned up the space as he walked.
Putting diapers away, toys back in the containers, and straightening up all around the nursery.
I’d been able to be a part of her five-month appointment with Dean, and it felt good to ask questions.
Dean didn’t have any concerns for her or Colton.
Eva came with him and gave Colton a dressing-down, but it wasn’t as bad as usual.
He was ticking up in weight, and that was enough for her.
Slowly, I watched him expertly transfer her to the crib. She was in a wrap, but her arms were flung above her head. Kissing Colton on the cheek, I brushed her cheek before going into the bedroom. Colton closed the door, but had the baby monitor set up.
“I was going to take a shower…” He tried to fight the smile, but the blush gave him away. “Do you want to join me?”
“Always.” I pulled off my shirt.
Colton undressed in the bathroom, and I joined him. My eyes widened when he pulled off his crystals before stepping into the water. I took off my glasses and placed them on the counter. Slipping into the shower, I was surprised by how hot he had it running.
“You’re lucky I’m a fire dragon, otherwise that might have burned.”
He chuckled. “It’s not that hot. I’m not a fire dragon and it feels fine.”
“You’re mated to one, and you’ve got my warmth.”
Humming, I could feel the sass he was trying to hold back. Turning around, I picked him up and put his back against the wall. He squeaked, the icy wall came into contact with his skin. His legs wrapped around me, and I kissed him.
My tongue dove into his mouth as I craved his spicy taste. His need and his love slammed into me, and I growled, my cock now stiffly nestled between his cheeks. Colton moved his hips, rubbing himself against my shaft, and I groaned. I kneaded his ass as I rocked my own hips with his.
“I need you.” He gasped, his kiss turning to nip my lips. “I need you to fuck me, Alpha.”
“Little Omega, slow down. Let me enjoy you.”
Pressing my lips against his mark, Colton let out a gasp, his nails digging into my skin. “No. I need you. Fuck me. Hard. Please.”
My eyes caught his silver ones, and I smiled. Before, I hadn’t been too rough with him, simply because he was pregnant. Though he tried to push my buttons enough to get me to go all out. After adjusting him, my tip found his hole easily. He moaned, and I smiled as his ears appeared on his head.
I didn’t say anything, but it was something I missed seeing on him.
Taking hold of his waist, I dug my nails into him.
He threw his head back, his back arching slightly.
Once I felt comfortable, I moved him up a little before I slammed him down on me.
Colton, in his shock, let out a cry. It was loud, but I didn’t stop.
Using him to fuck my cock, I slammed him down over and over, thrusting up into him.
His hands shifted to claws and dug into my skin, and I could feel them trying to scratch at my scales.
He took everything, coming twice before I finally finished.
My knot was there, and I slammed it into him, locking us together.
Colton came a third time, screaming my name before his body turned boneless. My breath was ragged as I held him up so he wouldn’t fall. It felt so good to be inside him. I was jerking as beads of come still streamed out of me. My dragon roared, wanting to fill up our Omega.
His eyes hadn’t shifted back to silver as he panted. “I need more.”
Chuckling, I raised my eyebrow. “Little Omega, my knot is currently locked in you. There isn’t much more I can give.”
He growled and surged forward. I had to hold him in place, worried that he would tear the knot out of him and hurt himself.
His lips slammed into mine, and he kissed me with a need that was overwhelming.
Colton wasn’t in control. Not right now.
This was his wolf. They hadn’t come out recently, but this was definitely pent-up need over the past few months.
“I know, little wolf. I know. Give me a moment. Let my knot go down and I’ll do it as many times as you want. I’ll give you everything you need. Trust me.”
They growled deep and moved from my lips to my shoulder. His canines were in my shoulder before I could say anything. I moaned, my cock stiffening, and not at all helping my knot go down.
“Hold on. If you give me a minute to slip out, I want you to present for me. Can you do that for your Alpha?”
“Yes.” He licked my shoulder where he had bitten. “I can do that, Alpha.”
Smiling, I kissed the side of his head. “Good boy. Hold on for a moment. Then we can start again.”
“Again and again.” His voice was altered, his wolf speaking through him. “More, Alpha. More knots. More breeding. Breed me.”
Groaning, I struggled to focus on my knot going down. My dragon roared, wanting the same. This seemed like a mini-heat for him. Normally, he wouldn’t mention breeding. Not without me initiating the need to expand our family first.
Pressing my hand against his flat stomach, I smiled. “Soon, little wolf. Soon. Just give it time. I’ll fill you with another one of my hatchlings. For now, though, feel my knot. Take it. Milk it.”
He growled and nodded, nuzzling my neck. His scent was so strong, swirling around us, that it was almost overwhelming. The only reason I didn’t was because my own mixed with his. We balanced each other out.
Licking my lips, I leaned him back a little.
Taking his nipple in my mouth, I rolled it with my tongue before sucking.
He had fed Kayla before putting her down, but I was happy to empty him even more.
He moaned, and I continued on both sides before he came again.
Smiling, I wiped the corner of my mouth.
“Come on. Let’s try to rinse. Then we can move to the bedroom.”
Humming, Colton nibbled my neck, and I smirked, taking us both into the water’s stream.
He leaned into the stream, feeling the warmth.
My heart beat as I watched my mate, my Omega, arch his back with water running down his body.
Locked to me while I was buried knot-deep in him, it felt right as I braced his back for him to stay up without the wall.
“I love you, Colt.”
He smiled, his canines showing, but his voice all him. “I love you too, Mar.”
