Chapter 73

Chapter

Seventy-Three

Iwalked back into the house when the sky turned orange.

Everyone was in the kitchen, and I snuck a snack from what Candice was making.

Tyson smiled, pulling me into a hug and telling me, congratulations.

Smiling, I thanked him. Still, my smile wasn’t genuine.

Marcus was helping Candice currently, but I could see him watching me.

Sabrina held her arms out to me, and I slipped into them. Sighing, I turned in her arms, letting her hands drop to settle on my bump. Her chin rested on my shoulder.

“It will be okay, Colt.”

Nodding, I knew she was right. The hurt would go away eventually. I would be able to be excited and happy about this pregnancy after it was all done. I was ready for this to be over and to move on.

“I’ll make sure to set up the nursery. Double cribs.”

“Excuse me?” Marcus turned, looking at the two of us.

Sabrina’s chin left my shoulder. “Wait…you didn’t tell him you were having twins?”

Marcus’ eyes slid to mine. “Is that true?”

Nodding, I tried to play it off. “You think I would be this fat at sixteen weeks and not be pregnant with twins?”

Anger stabbed through the bond, and it actually made me flinch. He washed his hands and motioned me to follow him. My eyes fell, and I let out a sigh. Sabrina mouthed sorry, but I shook my head. It wasn’t her fault.

He was already heading up the stairs when I made my way out of the kitchen. I stepped into our bedroom and shut the door behind me, leaning against it. Marcus was sitting on the edge of the bed, his face looking nothing short of menacing.

“Come here.”

It was a command, but I didn’t fight it. Slowly stepping up to him, I stopped about a foot away from him. He looked up at me, his jaw locked.

“Mar...”

“No, Colton. We are going to talk about this. You don’t get to deflect. You will not fall into a hole. I am right here. I am your mate. These hatchlings are ours.”

His hand splayed across my front, and I saw the flicker of surprise cross his face. Slowly, I reached down and pulled off my shirt. Marcus’ mouth opened slightly as he took in my body. Reaching out, he explored the new curves.

I closed my eyes, focusing on the feeling of his touch on my skin. Eventually, his fingers brushed my sides before tugging on the hairband that was holding my pants together. Smiling, I opened my eyes.

“You’re already three months along…”

Nodding, I put my hands on the bottom of the curve. “Five more to go.”

He sucked in a breath. “Twins.”

“Mar…” He looked up at me. “One is an Alpha. The other is an Omega. Eva confirmed it. I also had to tell her…”

“Did you tell her you were a level ten?” His voice rose, angry.

I shook my head. “I had to tell her I was leadership. Plus, she was worried. Apparently, it can be dangerous for both Omegas if a lower-level leadership has an Omega. She was angry, and I didn’t say anything, but…”

“You didn’t deny anything.”

“She needed to know. Especially if she is going to help us through this one.” My eyes glazed over. “I don’t want to lose one or both of them.”

Marcus leaned forward, his head resting against me. “You won’t. They will be fine, as will you.”

His hands rubbed up my sides, smiling softly. “I love having you like this.”

“I weighed in today at one-thirty-nine. I almost threw up.”

“Is that on track?”

I shrugged. “I think so? I’ll talk to Eva later about it. She’s having me do another chart. I just hadn’t gotten around to pulling everything out again. According to Rin, and the jeans I tried to pull on this morning, it’s all going to my ass.”

Marcus laughing, his hands turning me around forcefully. He whistled, and I felt my face flush. His hand grabbed my cheek, shaking it. Suddenly, he stood up. We swapped places, his hand on the back of my neck as he bent me over the bed.

Reaching around, I felt the hair band snap and my pants get pulled down. A low growl left Marcus, his nails digging into my skin and pressing into my cheek. My heart was pounding, slick already forming as a thrum of pleasure coursed through me.

“Little Omega, this is a lot.”

His hand came down hard, and I gasped. He grabbed it as before, now not impeded by my jeans. My eyes closed as I tried to clamp down my moan.

“I will not be able to leave you alone if this is how it’s going to be.”

I sucked in a breath as his hand hit my ass again. His finger slipped between my cheeks, but I was already soaked. He didn’t bother sticking a finger in. He didn’t need to.

The sound of his zipper made me squirm, but his hand still held my head down. His cock slipped between my cheeks as he used my slick to lube himself, and I couldn’t hold back the moan. It wasn’t slow, and I was thankful. Marcus lined his head up before he slammed into me.

His pace was fast and hard. The sound of his body against my ass was obscene.

Marcus fucked me. I came without being able to give him a warning.

My cum splashed across the blanket and my ass tightened.

He growled, slamming into me two more times before emptying himself into me.

My body would have collapsed against the bed if his hand hadn’t let up and wrapped around my front, holding me up.

After a moment, Marcus slipped out and turned me around in his arms. “You are dangerous, little wolf. For my health and for yours.”

I hummed, still slightly floating from the orgasm. “What if my ass gets bigger? What if I get enormous?”

“Then I will love every inch of you even more. You know that.” Marcus kissed me, claiming me.

Wrapping my arms around his shoulders, I kissed him back, forcing us to close all gaps between our bodies.

I loved him. I loved Marcus. I loved him and I wanted us to be a family.

I wanted to have everything with him. To grow old and have a ton of pups.

Maybe not as many as he wanted, but I would give him as many as I could.

“I feel your love, Colt. I feel it and I love you just as much.”

I smiled, my eyes tearing up. “I think the crying has already started.”

He chuckled, swiping away a tear that fell. “That’s okay. Your body is working overtime now.”

“Again.”

“Again.” Marcus smiled wide. “No more surprises, okay?”

My lips pursed and his eyes narrowed when I wouldn’t look him in the eye. His hand grabbed my chin and forced my head straight. I still didn’t look him in the eyes.

“Colton.”

Humming, I sucked my lips in before biting the bottom one.

“No more surprises?”

“I mean…one…might not be bad.”

He growled low. “Colton Alford, you tell me right now. You being pregnant is enough to stress me out.”

Letting out a breath, I nodded to the chair. “You might want to sit down?”

“Out with it. Now.”

“Sit down?”

Marcus pulled me with him as he sat down in the chair I told him he needed. His hands grasped my hips, holding me in place. He caught my gaze, but I could feel him stressing.

I gave him a soft smile, running my hands through his hair. “Mike, Selene and I may have cured PCDHS.”

His mouth dropped open. “Excuse me?”

“It took some research. I’ve been doing it at the Archives. At first, we didn’t know how magic connected to anything, but as we started connecting the dots…”

“Is there a connection between magic and PCDHS?”

I inhaled deeply and let it out slowly. “Kind of. It’s more like that normally our bodies filter the magic that we come into contact with.

It surrounds us in everything. Omegas, apparently, get buildups.

When mated, Alphas actually have an inherent ability to help the Omega remove any excess buildup.

” A blush crossed my face. “Specifically, when getting knotted.”

“So, Omegas got PCDHS because of magical build-up when Alphas didn’t knot them?”

Nodding, I brushed the side of his cheek. “The problem comes when there’s too much of a buildup. If a knot doesn’t help filter enough, then you get someone like me. Whose entire body is just a ball of magical buildup.”

“And you found this because…?”

“Selene and I were working on the magic circle for the lair, and we noticed during my episodes, I was expending much more magic. It turns out my episodes are my body trying to get rid of the buildup. No matter how painful it is.”

Marcus shook his head. “Colt, this is…huge. I mean, putting all this together is incredible. I don’t think anyone has.”

I rested my hands on his shoulders. “We were able to get my magic build up cleared. I’m now running at normal filtering thanks to this.

” Holding my arm, I had a small leather bracelet that Selene had given me to filter the magic through my body into the contraption that she had set up for the lair.

“I won’t have any more episodes. Essentially, I’m cured. ”

My eyes looked back at Marcus, and I sucked in a breath. A tear fell, and I smiled, trying to hold back my own tears. Swiping away his, I shook my head.

“Don’t cry, Mar.”

He pulled me closer, his face pressing into my bump. “How can I not? You’ve been in so much pain for so long. Now…now you’re free of that. Finally. I can’t…” His breath shuddered and his hold on me tightened.

“I’m okay, my Alpha. I can’t cure everyone. Selene and I have gone through a lot to work out how to get a filter like this. However, I can make sure our pups and hatchlings never feel the pain of it.”

His head snapped back and looked up at me. “You’re serious?”

“I am. It actually weaves into the lair. They will get a bracelet like this, and it will filter their magical energy into the lair, fueling it. If we do it from when they have their first heat, they won’t have a backup or any pain.

” I let out a laugh. “You don’t need to worry about them going out and having sex at fourteen or setting them up with an Alpha that early either. ”

Marcus let out a heavy breath. “You really are the most amazing shifter.”

“I’m not. We just happened upon this. Years of making notes, and it finally felt like everything pieced together. If it hadn’t been for my stupid idea for the lair, we never would have known.”

“That doesn’t make you any less incredible, Colt.” He kissed the curve of my stomach. “How did you ever settle for me?”

“Settle? Never.” I leaned down and kissed his lips. “It was only ever going to be you, Marcus. There would be no one else. I know that now.”

He hummed and kissed me back. “Good. You’re all mine. I don’t care what anyone says. I will protect you. All of you. Forever.”
