Chapter 48
Wren
My eyes blink open, and then I’m stretching, a delicious burn taking over my muscles as they extend over my head.
“Good morning,” Ethan’s voice greets from next to me.
“Good morning,” I grin, then frown. “Wait. What time is it really?”
“It’s about four in the afternoon,” he admits, “but your heat is officially broken.”
My cheeks flush. Right. I remember…did I really take four cocks at once? I don’t know if I’d ever be able to do that outside my heat.
Ethan looks down at his phone, typing out a quick message. “There. Now the guys know you’re awake.”
His point is proven a moment later when I feel some pleasantly surprised emotions come through the bond. Heavy footsteps echo down the hall, and Teddy bursts into the room. “Dove! ‘Ow do ya feel?”
“I feel good,” I admit. “A little sore, but that’s to be expected after all that.”
Maverick and Brennan appear in the doorway, then sit on the edge of the bed. After everyone has appropriately checked on my emotional state, Ethan grins. “So, as we know, Wren’s parents announced that she has been found and is currently in the care of her new pack. So…”
“Next stop: Starbrook City?” I ask hopefully, looking around the room.
“It’ll take a minute to get everything in order, but yes,” Maverick grins. “Next stop: Starbrook City.”
“I can’t believe I get to decorate this place any way I want,” I gasp, looking around the large empty living room. We arrived in Starbrook City late last night, and just got the keys to our new home.
It took about a month to get everyone’s affairs sorted, but we are now homeowners of a modern-but-cozy six bedroom home in the suburbs of Starbrook City. The same one the guys put an offer in on while I was making my parents’ painting.
My dream home.
The last month has been filled with love, and so much joy. My parents have seemingly accepted their defeat for now, not saying a peep after announcing my safety.
Pack Caruso was officially sentenced to seventy-five years each for five counts of omega abduction, five counts of omega abuse, five counts of administering illegal substances, and more.
They had originally been sentenced to ninety years each, but entered a deal and gave the prosecution information on where their previous omegas were sent, and the authorities are in the process of finding them.
“Any way you want,” Maverick confirms, stepping aside to let the movers bring the couch in.
“As long as you don’t include the throw pillows Brennan crocheted,” Teddy snickers, and Brennan rolls his eyes.
Apparently I had been the only one who knew about his hobby before the dinner with my parents, and now the guys poke fun at him for it.
Oops.
It’s all in good fun though, and he seems happier for it. Some days he’ll sit with me and crochet while I paint, or while I read a book. It’s nice to be in a creative space with someone, especially when it’s someone you love.
“Fuck off, or I won’t make that sweater you asked for as your Christmas present.”
Teddy’s mouth snaps shut, and I giggle, shaking my head.
Ethan’s arms wrap around me from behind. “Do you want to do the shopping online? Or go to the store yourself?”
I purse my lips. “Hmm. I’m not sure—oh, Sir! Please be careful with that!” The mover looks at the frame in his hands he was about to set against the wall before glancing back at me.
“Apologies miss…is there somewhere else you’d like me to put it?”
I bite my lip, looking around the room. They’ve only just started bringing furniture in… “Could you please set it on the couch?”
He nods, placing it gently on the couch before walking back outside. I check the frame over carefully, making sure it wasn’t dinged or scratched in the move.
“We could always get a new frame, if that one was damaged,” Brennan offers, but I shake my head, taking a step back and looking at the painting the frame keeps safe.
Four bears in the woods, looking up at a dove, flitting around their heads.
It’s funny, they’re all the same kind of bear, but you can tell who’s who based on the expression.
Daddy Bear is the one furthest to the left, a little scowl on his face as he scans the forest for danger.
Bossy Bear rubs his back against her tree, pushing the bird to fly higher than before, Teddy Bear stands on his back legs, playfully batting at the bird, and Boo Bear lays in the grass, a safe place for her land.
I call it, “Little Bird and the Four Bears”, and though I feel that I’ve captured my guys perfectly, I can’t help but feel like this painting is only the beginning of our story.
