Chapter 2

CHAPTER 2

JON

I watched Seth’s fine ass walk toward Tom’s office. When I turned back to Gloria, she watched me with a knowing smirk. I leaned over her desk and whispered, “Who was that?”

She stared at me over the rims of her glasses. “Seth Morgan.”

I rolled my eyes. “Yes. Thank you. I got his name. But who is he? He’s not a patient, but he knows everyone here.”

Gloria’s expression grew somber. “His husband was a patient here. He died two years ago.” She leaned to the side to look around me. “But you have patients waiting, so I’ll have to tell you the rest later.”

I squeezed my eyes shut. “Great. And they all saw me flirt with the silver fox.”

Gloria snickered. “I’m sure it’s nothing they haven’t seen before.” She made a shooing motion. “Go on. Get back to work.”

With a last glance in the direction Seth had taken, I called in my next patient.

Seth was long gone by the time I finished with my patients and the accompanying paperwork. As busy as I had been, my thoughts still frequently returned to the handsome man. If I’d been anywhere else, I would have asked for his number. He was clearly interested if his adorable stutter had been any indication.

As I left the small office I shared with the other nurse practitioners who worked here during the week, I almost ran into Tom as he walked down the hallway. I stopped so I didn’t knock him over. “Sorry about that.”

He smiled. “No worries. I don’t blame you for wanting to get out of here. Any plans for the evening?”

I shrugged. “Not sure yet. I’m in the mood for something new. I’m going to try to get my bestie to come out with me.”

Tom’s brow furrowed. “I thought you had a boyfriend.”

My stomach twisted. “I did until he decided to cheat on me with someone half his age. He said I was getting too old and it was bringing him down.”

Tom mouthed the words “ Too old ” and pursed his lips. “Wasn’t he older than you?”

“Yep. But he started to get obsessed with looking younger.” I sighed. “Honestly, he was more form than substance. I should have seen it coming.” I gave a wry smile. “I got taken in by dirty talk and a big dick.”

Tom snorted and burst out laughing. “Listen, Mark and I are taking Seth out for dinner tonight at Pascal and Sabine. You’re welcome to join us if you like. I got the impression you and Seth might hit it off.”

“Really? What makes you think that?”

“He couldn’t stop staring at you. I’ve rarely seen him tongue-tied, but he definitely was with you.”

My lips twitched up into a smile. “Well, I’m flattered. He seems like a pretty put-together guy.”

“Oh, he is,” Tom agreed. “He just hasn’t dated much since David died two years ago.”

“Understandable. Two years isn’t a long time after someone you love dies.” I checked the time on my phone. Just shy of five-thirty. “What time are you meeting for dinner?”

“I made reservations for seven-thirty,” he replied.

Two hours. I considered whether I wanted to take a chance on the unknown quantity that was Seth Morgan. I made a mental shrug. Eh, why not. If nothing else, I’d get dinner, a nice night out, and maybe make a new friend. “Sure, I’ll meet you there.”

Tom clapped me on the back. “Excellent. I think you two will get along well. You’re both intelligent and enjoy the arts.”

“I guess we’ll find out,” I said. “I’ll see you later.”

I almost changed my mind twice. I was still stinging from Kevin’s dishonesty. In addition to my embarrassment, his cruel words about me getting old had made me self-conscious. I had to shake myself. I was going to be forty this year, not four hundred. Get a grip, Jonathan .

Seth clearly wasn’t self-conscious about getting older. In fact, he wore his silver fox status quite well. He clearly took care of his body. He also didn’t dye his hair, instead letting the natural steely gray slowly take over his thick dark locks. I closed my eyes and imagined how his well-trimmed salt-and-pepper beard would feel rubbing against my thighs as he sucked me off.

I grunted as my cock responded to that image, surprised at how quickly it filled and thickened. Damn, I was more attracted to Seth than I’d realized. Good thing I was headed into the shower.

I was barely under the spray when I grabbed my body wash and poured a generous amount into my palm. A groan slipped from my lips as I wrapped my hand around my cock. I shuttled it through my fist, the rapid schlick sound echoing off the bathroom walls. I slid my other hand down to tug on my balls before moving it farther back and slipping a finger into my hole. That was enough to send me off. I gasped as my orgasm barreled through me, whiting out my vision. Thick ropes of cum shot from my dick, hitting the wall before being washed away by the warm spray. I breathed heavily as I held myself up by leaning against the cool tiles. Well damn. That was unexpected.

It had been a long time since someone had caught my attention like Seth had. Kevin was good-looking and could be good in bed, but he’d been self-absorbed and hadn’t always concerned himself with my pleasure. I didn’t even know Seth, yet just the idea of him had me going off like a rocket.

As I toweled off, I wondered what the night would bring. And if I took more care in getting dressed than usual, it was nobody’s business but mine.
