Chapter 1 – Grounded Forever #2
Axel. Shit! Axel had been coming over every night recently.
But...he wouldn’t tonight, right? I hadn’t even seen him when I left homecoming.
He was probably off in some hotel room hooking up with someone.
And for the first time ever, the thought didn’t hurt as much.
No, he wouldn’t come tonight. It was homecoming night.
He’d spend it with someone he actually liked.
Jacob didn’t say anything as he covered Axel’s jacket with his own jacket. He unbuttoned his shirt next and draped that on the chair too. And then he kicked off his dress shoes. He reached down to the button on his pants.
I stepped forward and put my hand on the waistline of his pants. This was one thing I actually had experience doing now. And I wasn’t sure how I ever thought what Jacob and I had was fake. Because he was staring at me the way he always did when I unzipped his pants.
My heart started racing. It didn’t seem like Jacob had any plans of just going to sleep. And I’d been dreaming of more with him. Every time he’d asked me if I wanted him to return the favor, I’d wanted to say yes. But I’d wanted him to want to do it. And now I knew that he actually did.
Jacob reached behind my back and unzipped the top of my dress.
I let it fall down my arms as I pushed his pants down. He kicked them off and then reached down and grabbed my thighs, hoisting my legs up around his waist. I was still wearing the skirt of my two piece dress. But the high slit made it easy to wrap my legs around him.
He placed me down in the middle of the bed and leaned over top of me.
I thought we were finished. Doomed from the very start. But he was here. And tomorrow he was going to fight for me.
I ran my fingers down the muscles on his back as I pulled him closer.
He slid his hand up my thigh.
This was what I wanted. Him.
He didn’t lean down to kiss me. He just stared into my eyes. Like he wanted to see every reaction I made to his touch.
“I feel like I’ve asked you a million times,” he said. “But I’m going to try again now that you know nothing between us is fake. Now that you know how much I want this too. Let me show you how good you make me feel.” His hand slid a little higher.
God, that was all I could think about. “Yes, help me out of this skirt.” I reached behind myself, but couldn’t find the zipper.
He chuckled. “Turn around.”
I turned around so I was on all fours on my bed.
Jacob groaned. “You’re so sexy.” His fingers ran down my spine and then grabbed my zipper.
He slowly lowered it, letting the fabric pool around my knees.
He ran his hand up the inside of my thigh from behind.
He was just about to reach where I desperately wanted him to touch when the trapdoor started to lift.
Axel whistled as he walked into my room. But he stopped when he saw what he had just walked in on. His eyebrows lowered as he stared at me.
Ah! I grabbed my skirt and pulled it against myself. I slid backward on the bed so that my ass wasn’t exposed.
“Axel, what the hell are you doing here?” Jacob asked. He put his hand out in front of me to keep my skirt in place over my chest.
“I came to check on our girl.”
Our girl? What the heck was he talking about?
“How are you doing?” Axel asked me. “That was quite the fight between your dad and Mr. Halifax.”
“Everything’s fine,” I said. Kind of. Hopefully. “Jacob calmed me down.”
“Cool, cool,” Axel said and kicked off his dress shoes like he was planning on staying for some reason. “Well, don’t bother covering yourself. Nothing I haven’t seen before.”
I knew my face was scarlet. Him implying that I’d stripped down to my bra and thong in front of him was not exactly accurate.
He pulled off his tuxedo jacket and tossed it over top of Jacob’s. And then he walked back over to my bed. “Scoot over, Scarlett.”
What?
He collapsed on the bed beside me before I had a chance to move. “Seriously, this thing is everywhere.” He grabbed my skirt and tossed it to the side.
I wrapped my arm in front of my bra as I slid under the covers to hide myself.
“Axel, we’re in the middle of something,” Jacob said.
“Don’t let me interfere.” Axel yawned. “I’m just gonna take a quick nap.” He put one of his arms behind his head on the pillow. And for some reason he winked at me.
I was going to kill him.
Jacob sighed and looked at me.
I just shrugged because I didn’t know what else to do.
“I’m sorry,” I mouthed silently. I needed to confess to him that Axel had been coming over every night.
But now didn’t seem like the right time.
And obviously I was going to tell Axel to stop coming now that Jacob and I were officially dating. I just hadn’t gotten a chance to yet.
“Aren’t you guys tired?” Axel asked. “Tonight was wild. Best homecoming yet in my book though.”
I wasn’t sure I agreed with that. Yes, Jacob becoming my boyfriend was wonderful. But the rest of the night was a big pile of crap.
“My crown looked good on you,” Axel said and yawned again. His yawn soundly awfully fake.
I ignored him. Honestly I had no idea where his homecoming king crown was. I think I might have given it to my mom. “Axel, don’t you have somewhere to be?”
“Yeah. Here. Obviously. It’s like one of our old sleepovers. I’m feeling nostalgic tonight. Maybe we should call Soph. She’ll be sad she missed out. Someone call her. Scarlett, grab your glasses and call her.”
I glared at him. I didn’t need anyone else in my bed right now. And I was still pissed at him for messing with my phone settings so I needed to wear glasses to unlock it.
“Axel, are you high?” Jacob asked.
“No.” He laughed. “Are you high?”
It kind of seemed like he was...
Jacob shook his head. “Sorry,” he whispered to me. As if any of this was his fault. I was pretty sure it was mine. Jacob scratched the back of his neck. “Maybe we should just call it a night?”
Was he leaving?
Before I could even ask, he lifted the covers and climbed in beside me. He lay down and pulled me down next to him. His body pressed against mine on one side and Axel’s pressed against mine through the comforter on the other. While I was in barely any clothes.
I swallowed hard.
Maybe I did deserve to be grounded for the rest of my life...
