Cayden #2
“I think this one is ready to call it a night.” I give a murderous glare in the asshole’s direction.
“I’ll take care of him,” he nods. “Anything else you need, you just ask.”
“Thanks.”
I watch the bouncer escort the bastard out of here and turn toward Luna.
“Are you okay?” I ask, my eyes roaming over her for any evidence that says otherwise.
“Yes. I’m fine. He just got a little handsy.” Her hands smooth down her dress, and someone bumps her from behind, knocking her into me.
“Fucking hell,” I mutter, wrapping my arms around to keep her from falling. “You actually like places like this?”
“Not really,” she giggles as I do my best to shield her from the masses. “But Connor does, so when he’s in town, I suck it up for the evening.”
“Shot time!” Connor appears by her side with three tequila shots. “And I even got you one because you’re too gorgeous to hate.”
Luna laughs, and I find myself smiling at the sound.
“He does smile!” Connor grins, handing Luna a shot before giving me one. “To happy endings tonight, whether that be with a person or with a toy in Luna’s secret drawer,” he toasts, raising his glass to ours before throwing it back.
“Oh my God,” Luna’s hand flies to her mouth with a giggle. “I can’t believe you ratted me out like that.”
“No shame in the toy game,” he laughs as she gives him a mortified stare.
She shoots her shot back, and chuckling, I follow suit.
Connor takes our empty shots and disappears into the crowd.
“So, you have a secret drawer?” I grin as her face heats up.
“Nope. Not going there with you,” she says, shaking her head adamantly.
“Why not?”
“Because that would be dangerous. And we already established tonight that we are, in fact, a dangerous bomb waiting to explode.” She giggles again and stumbles into me as another person moves past her.
“How many of those shots have you had?” I ask, steadying her with my hand.
“Enough to know I can’t be trusted alone with you tonight.”
She’s dangerously cute when she’s tipsy and far too direct for my self-control.
The song changes, and her eyes light up as the slow beat comes on. “I love this song!”
She turns away from me and starts to sway to the music, which puts her ass in direct line of my cock.
It takes all of two seconds before our bodies find a way to connect.
With this many people around us, it’s easy to disappear into the crowd, our bodies pressed together until I don’t know where I end and she begins.
My hands snake around her waist, bringing her flush against me. Her head falls back against my shoulder as we sway to the music, wrapped up in our own cocoon. She moves her hips in a way that has my dick straining against my pants.
There’s no doubt she feels it as it rubs against her ass every time she presses further into me. Her hand reaches up, and she sinks her fingers into my hair. My palm skims down the side of her dress until I’m gripping her bare thigh.
She moans softly, and I hang on every little sound and movement she makes, wanting to remember this moment when I’m lying in bed later tonight.
We stay in our little world, locked together until the music fades, bringing us back to the flashing lights and high energy of the crowd, breaking the spell we were just under.
Connor comes back to dance with Luna, and I watch from a distance. I can still feel her touch on my skin, and every curve of her body pressed against mine.
Her eyes keep wandering to mine like she can’t resist the pull any more than I can. It seems we both are headed for a head-on collision, and neither one of us knows how to hit the brakes.
I don’t feel right leaving her, so I stay until they finally head over in my direction to call it a night.
“I’m taking Lu home. I can tell when she’s at her limit with alcohol. She giggles at everything and becomes handsy.” Connor laughs when Luna playfully pushes him.
“I do not,” she giggles before attaching herself to his arm.
“I rest my case,” he chuckles.
“How are you getting home?” I frown.
“Reserving an Uber,” Connor says, holding up his phone.
“No need. I’ll drive you back.” I won’t sleep until I know she’s safely home. God knows how long an Uber will take at this hour to reserve a ride back to Crystal Isle, and I don’t trust most drivers on the road at this time of night.
Or any drivers at any time, for that matter.
“No,” Luna says, shaking her head. “We are way out of your way. You need to get back to Scarlett.”
“She’s sleeping and doesn’t even know I’m gone. She’s safe with Mae.” I ignore the funny feeling in my chest and how it does something to me that she thought of Scarlett over her own needs.
“Still…it’s a thirty-minute drive there and back.” Her green eyes want to swallow me whole as she peers up at me with concern about putting me out. Her face is flushed from dancing, and parts of her hair are damp and slightly curled from the heat of this room.
She’s beautiful.
There is no other way to describe her.
Clearing my throat, I look at Connor, and he gives me a look that clearly says,
You’re fucked.
Tell me something I don’t know.
“I’m taking you,” I say, with finality as I start leading the way to push us through the crowd. I search for Hayes and Foxx, but I can’t find them anywhere. I’m sure wherever they are, females are involved, and they won’t even notice I left.
The crowd pushes us apart, and I end up reaching behind me to take Luna’s hand. Her fingers intertwine with mine like it’s the most natural thing in the world.
After getting my jacket, we step outside.
The cold air feels good against my hot skin as the slight breeze lifts my damp hair. It was an inferno in there, and for the first time since arriving, I feel like I can breathe. I notice Luna wrapping her arms around herself as goosebumps appear on her bare arms.
“Here,” I say, draping my suit jacket over her shoulder.
“Thank you,” she says softly, pushing her arms through and holding it closed with her hands.
It’s big on her and practically swallows her up, but something about seeing her in my clothes makes me want to get her out of all clothes, period.
I shake the thought away and give my dick the memo that it’s not happening tonight.
On the walk back to the arena, I listen in on Luna and Connor’s conversation. He’s telling her some story about a dance mishap he had in New York, and they're both laughing at what he went through.
The more I see them together, the more I understand why she likes him. He’s definitely growing on me, and after studying his body language tonight whenever they danced together, it’s exactly what Luna said it was. They really are just friends. Tonight, all his flirting was directed at men.
When we reach my SUV, I unlock it, and Connor gets in the back seat. Walking to the other side, I open the passenger door for Luna, and when her boot heel gets caught, I immediately catch her before she falls.
