6. Tomorrow #3
I felt like shit. I didn’t want him to adjust his life for me, and here he was, willing to do it for my family. The second day we were at his place, both of his grandmothers and mother came over to cook for us.
That wasn’t the way that I wanted to meet his family, but I was grateful that I did. I appreciated the ladies for loving on me and my sister. We both needed it more than I hated to admit.
As much as I said that Tuesday craved a mother’s love, I had to come to the realization that at my big age, so did I. I loved my brother and sister with all of me, but I knew that it would never replace the love of a mother or father.
It was interesting to see Kyro interact with the women in his family.
He treated them with the highest respect, and they treated him like a baby.
They did the same when Rashad came over.
One thing for certain and two things for sure: I planned to learn Korean.
They didn’t have to tell me that I was a topic when his mother and her mother talked to each other.
“Baby, look what came,” Kyro said as he walked in the front door. He held an envelope up.
I stood in the kitchen over a pot that I’d just finished mixing. Spaghetti was for dinner tonight. I waited until he kissed my lips before I asked him what it was. “What do we have here?” I asked after he handed me the envelope.
My brow triangled high at the sender. Break The Fourth Wall. My head snapped up toward him. “What is this? Are they having a art show that they’re inviting us to?”
I could barely think from all the excitement that swarmed in my head. Kyro laughed before he wrapped his arms around me from behind. He kissed my neck. “Baby, open it.”
My hands shook as I opened the envelope. Why am I so nervous? After I opened the envelope like a delicate flower, I took out the card. I didn’t want to tear the envelope because I wanted to save it.

Until that time, we ask that you simply expect the unexpected.
We look forward to welcoming you beyond the wall.
Break The Fourth Wall
“Where art is never confined to the canvas or wall.”
I didn’t realize that I was jumping up and down until Kyro laughed. This invitation was an artist’s, art collector’s, lover of art’s dream. “I cannot believe we got a personal invitation! Kyro, do you think it’s the one that they had covered when we were there?”
“I don’t know, baby. I guess we’ll find out when we get there. Are you excited?” He wrapped his arms around me then pulled me into his chest.
Am I excited! “Baby, this was just what I needed today. Oh, I talked to my apartment manager today. She claims that there are no more vacancies, and it will take them almost two months to repair the damage in my apartment. The heifer told me that if I needed to break my lease to find another place sooner that she wouldn’t charge me a fee. ”
I let out a frustrated sigh. My apartment manager’s attitude was shocking because in the five years that we lived there, I had never been late with my rent. We were quiet tenants. Before this, we’d never had any problems. I was so annoyed.
Kyro just stared at me. “Mar, why are you worried about that shit? You have somewhere to live.” His eyes darted around the condo. “Last I checked, your address was the same as mine.”
He had been saying that since the third day that we were here. I waved him off, but the blank change of address form on the counter told how serious he was. It didn’t help that my sister had already filled hers out.
“Kyro, there is not enough room here for me, you, Tuesday, and August. You already got rid of your gym to make room for Tuesday. Changing your loft is not an option, period.”
He had already gone above and beyond. When August found out what happened, he was furious.
Unlike I did, he didn’t hold back when he told Tuesday that she was wrong and put us in this situation because she trusted someone who never gave her a reason to trust them. Kyro and Rashad had to talk to him.
Kyro took his eyeglasses off, then rubbed his eyes. “I don’t know why you make things so difficult. We have more than enough room. August lives in Atlanta, Mar.”
“You act like he lives there. He still needs somewhere to come when school is out of session, Kyro.” My face scrunched.
Kyro just looked at me for a moment before he sighed. “Mar, there’s enough room here. I’m not losing anything because I turned my home gym into Tuesday’s bedroom. The complex has a very nice gym. When August comes to visit, he’ll have a space.”
My head tilted to the side. August lives in Atlanta. When August comes to visit. I felt like there were underlined messages in his words. “Is there something that you know that I don’t?”
