Chapter Twenty-Nine #2
Emboldened, she wrapped her hands around him, lowering her head. Her tongue flicked at the tip and came away with his taste.
Salty. Masculine.
His abs flexed, his chest rising and falling beneath her. She wrapped her lips around him and alternated sucking with swiping her tongue beneath the sensitive rim of his crown. He tasted of salt. Smelled like the beach.
“Fuck.” Danny’s hips arched, his hands gripping the scarves hard enough for blood to drain from his fingers. “Bella, honey, I’m going to come if you keep that up and I’d really like to be inside you when that happens.”
“Save a horse, ride a cowboy.” Why that song sprang into her head right then was a mystery. She took another look at the large, naked male on her bed.
Okay, maybe not so much a mystery. He might not be a cowboy, but she would rather ride him than a horse any day.
He barked out a laugh that flowed into another groan as her hands tightened around him. “Saddle up.” The gravel in his voice sent more heat to her sex, making her slick.
Rising to her knees, she straddled his hips and slowly sank onto him.
His body arched, driving him deeper.
Her head fell back on her shoulders, her hips and knees losing their rhythm.
“Oh God.” It felt so good.
He felt so good.
She slammed her eyes shut and let herself feel. Her nails dug into his thighs. Her knees bracketed his waist as he took over the pace with deep, hard thrusts.
“I can’t hold on much longer, baby. Touch yourself. Come with me.” His voice held both a plea and a dominant alpha command.
Her eyes flew open.
Touch herself? In front of him? Blood rushed to her face.
Well, he was blindfolded.
Couldn’t watch.
It’d be like pleasuring herself when she was alone.
Her hand slid over her breasts. Down her stomach to her clit, where she let her gaze fall to the place where they joined.
His cock sliding in and out of her, covered in her slickness.
She rubbed her clit in a circular motion, fast and hard.
The muscles in her pelvis bunched. Pressure built, her body coiling into a fist, preparing to launch her into a maelstrom of pleasure.
“I can feel you tightening around me.” Danny’s voice was strained, the momentum of his hips never slowing. “Take yourself over the edge, baby.”
There was no way in hell she’d stop now. Her movements grew frantic, in time with his thrusts.
Her release hit, tearing a cry from her throat as her muscles clamped around him.
Sweat beaded his forehead. “Good girl.” He gritted out the words.
God help her, there was something wrong with her because his praise threw her into another round of intense pleasure, stars winking behind her eyes as she rode out the waves of her orgasm.
Danny’s hips gave another hard thrust, then he pulsed inside her. “Bella!”
She collapsed onto his chest, his skin slick beneath her cheek.
The sound of their harsh breathing filled the room.
Ear pressed to Danny’s heart, she absorbed the rapid thumps into her own body.
What she wouldn’t give to wake up to the sound of that heartbeat every morning for the rest of her life.
She pressed her hand into his side. “Danny?”
“Hmm?”
“Now that the gala’s over, you’re going to leave, aren’t you?”
He stilled. “Take the blindfold off.” The lust that had scraped his voice just moments before was gone.
She slid the scarf from his head, her gaze refusing to meet his.
“Bella, look at me.” Danny’s voice was soft but commanding. “I’m not leaving until I know you’re safe.”
He might not leave right away, but he was leaving.
“And even though I’ll have to leave eventually for my job, I will come back.”
Her fingers traced idle patterns on his chest as she waited.
For the words he didn’t say.
Tell him.
Her fingers stilled, then folded into her palm.
Coward.
She’d loved him as a teenager and he’d walked away.
The logical part of her brain argued that they were adults now. That they were both in a different place in their lives.
And he told her he’d stay.
For her.
Yet a part of her rebelled at exposing her feelings for him first.
Having him again, only to lose him?
She’d never recover.
“What’s the matter?” His eyes watched her, seeing too much.
“What makes you think anything’s the matter?”
He sighed. “Honey, I can practically hear the wheels turning in your head.” He pressed a kiss to her hair. “And you tensed up.”
She took a breath, marshaling her courage. “I—”
Danny’s phone rang from somewhere on the carpet.
“Who the hell is calling at this time of night?” he growled. Before she could move, he’d somehow freed his wrists from the scarves and rolled her to her back, vaulting off the bed in one fluid motion.
He grabbed his trousers. Dug for his phone. Brought it to his ear while she admired the smooth muscles in his bare back and ass.
“Mayhew.”
He listened to whoever was on the other line.
His body locked. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me—how?”
Isabella sat up, clutching the sheet to her breasts. A hollow pit formed in her stomach. “What is it?”
Danny ignored her. “He was breathing just fine when you guys arrested him.” He dragged a hand through his hair, sending strands to fall across his cheek. “What did the doctors say?” A pause. “Damn. Yeah. I’ll tell her. You know how to reach me.”
He hung up. Faced her.
She clutched the sheet tighter, pulling it higher across her chest. “Tell me.”
“It’s okay. It’s good news.” He paused, his mouth tightening. “However unexpected.”
“What is it?”
“Omar Hassan is dead.”
