Chapter thirty-four

Player

The entire drive to the clubhouse, I think about putting a bullet through Molly’s head. My finger actually twitches with the impulse.

When we pull up at the clubhouse, Cruz takes Molly to a safe house, and Drae and I climb out.

Watching them drive off, I’m running on empty.

Drae chuckles. “Funny Cruz would get stuck with that job. He’s always hated that bitch.”

“That’s why I gave it to him.”

Drae taps his temple. “Always thinking, VP. That’s why I love you.”

“Maybe she’ll piss him off, and he’ll put a bullet in her head. One can hope, anyway.”

“Gage may be right this time. She could be useful.”

“I know he’s right. That’s what pisses me off.”

Drae laughs and slaps a hand on my shoulder. “Come on, VP. I’m sure your girl is waiting for you. You gonna make her an ol’ lady? Make it official?”

“She’s mine. She and I and the club know that’s fact.”

“Gotta make it official, VP.”

“We’ll get around to it.”

“Property of Player. I’ll make the call and get it set up. What’s her size?”

“Small.”

“You sure? She’s got a set of knockers on her.”

“You want me to drive my fist in your face, motherfucker?”

He raises his palms in the air, laughing. “Just sayin’.”

“Fine. Medium.”

“We’ll make it happen.”

“I want to set up a party on the beach. We need some time away from this clubhouse.”

“I’ll talk to Gage. I’m sure he’d be up for throwing a party at his place.”

“Sounds good. Now I’m gonna go find my woman and fuck her brains out.”

“TMI, brother.”

We enter the clubhouse, and the smell of something delicious hits us. The boys are in line at a makeshift buffet.

Taylor makes her way to me, and I give her a kiss. She wraps her arms around my waist.

“We set up a taco bar. The meat is hot. Want me to make you some?”

“Sounds great, but there’s something I want more?”

“What’s that, baby? A beer?”

“You.” I heft her up in my arms, and her legs wrap around my hips. We’re followed down the hall by my brothers’ hoots and hollers.

I kick the door shut behind us and drop her to my bed.

“Where did you go?” she asks.

“Maybe one day I’ll tell you. Right now, I don’t want to talk.”

She grins and shuts up.

I kiss her, then work my way down her sweet body.

Pushing up her shirt, I kiss her belly, and a thought comes to me. I lift my head and meet her eyes. “I want kids, Taylor. Do you want kids, baby?”

“Sure. Some day.”

“Soon.”

“Well, I’d like to have a husband first.”

I grin. “Okay, babe. I get the message. You want to pick out a ring tomorrow, or you want me to surprise you?”

“Surprise me.”

The wheels in my brain start turning. I’ve got my mother’s wedding ring.

We recovered it with her body, and Dad took it off her before burying her.

He gave it to me after we buried my wife.

Said Mom would want me to have it and said someday I’d find another woman I wanted to give it to. It’s been in my top drawer ever since.

I brush the hair back from her forehead. “Let’s take a ride out to Dewey Beach tomorrow. Will you do that with me?”

“Of course.”

“Nothing is going to keep us apart again, Tay. I’m going to give you a happy life. I love you.”

She grins and quirks a brow. “Then show me already.”

So, I get busy showing this woman how much I love her.
