Julian #2

“We should go back to sleep,” she says, and a well of disappointment fills my chest. “You’re groggy. I’ll wake you up again in another two hours.”

“If you say so, ma’am.”

She nuzzles into me again, her body sighing with relief as my arm tightens around her.

“But I mean it. If I need a clearer head to make you see that I mean it, then so be it.”

“Less yapping, more sleeping.”

“Fine.” I sigh into her, falling back to sleep so easily. Which makes waking up even harder after the next two hours when her alarm goes off again. “I hate this game,” I grumble into her neck.

She rolls away from me slightly to shut off the alarm before returning again. “I know, it’s not fun for me either,” she says. “The cuddles are nice, though.”

I file that tidbit away to overanalyze later, because I have the sneaking suspicion she wouldn’t have admitted to as much if she wasn’t half asleep.

“Name?”

I groan. “Julian Gutierrez.”

“What day is it?” When I don’t answer soon enough, she shakes my arm. “Julian? Are you still awake?”

“Yes, but I don’t want to be.”

“I know it’s frustrating, but you’ve gotta sing for your sleep.” She tries to pull away from me, huffing when my arm tightens around her back. “What day is it?”

Despite hearing her question, I can’t force myself to answer it. I’m tired as hell. All my body wants is to go back to sleep, and I almost get my wish. I’m not sure how much time passes between her asking the question to jolting me wide awake with a firm shake of my shoulder.

“God, Julian, don’t scare me like that.” She actually sounds worried, which in turn worries me.

“I’m fine, I swear.” I rub at my eyes. “What was the question?”

“I asked what day it is.”

It’s a struggle to even keep my eyes open, never mind concentrate on what she’s saying. She shakes my arm when I’m silent for too long. “I wasn’t sleeping. I was thinking.”

“It’s a simple question, Julian. It shouldn’t be taking you this long to answer.” A gentle hand strokes my hair back from my forehead. “Is your head hurting again?”

“Nothing hurts. I’m just exhausted.” I sling an arm around her body. “And it’s October sixteenth. Barely.”

“Good. Let’s see…” She sighs. “I’m too tired to think of another question.”

“Thank god,” I say. “Go back to sleep.”

At some point in the next two hours, we shift positions again. Her soft body is beneath mine, our legs tangled, my face buried in the crook of her neck. A quiet moan escapes her lips as the lower half of my body rubs against her, and suddenly I’m wide awake with a very big problem.

My hands grip her waist as my eyes shut tight in concentration. I’m hard and pressed against her belly with no way of moving away without her feeling everything. How the hell do I get out of this without her thinking I’m the biggest creep in the world?

A gasp in my ear as I try shifting away from her, failing spectacularly by sliding farther down her body instead.

Fucking hell. This is going to make prying myself away from her even more torturous.

Beneath me her legs widen, inviting me to sink between her thighs.

She raises a knee beside my waist, all but caging me into the warmth of her body.

Except, I’m not sure this is an invitation.

Is she moving in her sleep, unaware of what she’s doing?

“Leticia?” My lips slide over the smooth, bare skin of her shoulder. Another moan emits from her throat, louder this time. “Are you awake?”

“Julian.” Her voice is breathy as she rocks against me, and I have to bite down on a curse as her hands ball into the fabric of my shirt. “Did the alarm go off?”

“No.” It’s all I can do to resist tasting her as my cock rubs between the apex of her thighs. “Fuck, Leti. What are you doing to me?”

“I should be asking you that.”

Her hands sink beneath my shirt, nails dragging down my stomach in a delicious pleasure-pain that makes the synapses in my brain short-circuit. I groan into her neck, our movements becoming more frantic as I continue to rub against her.

“You were on top of me when I woke up. You know I can’t think straight with your leg between my thighs.”

“Yeah?” An intake of breath as I bite down on her shoulder. “I can’t think straight with you wriggling underneath me either. I was having a hard enough time getting my dick to calm down, and you made that impossible.”

I grind against her to prove my point, and she lets out another gasp.

More than anything, I’d like to shed the layers between us.

Crank up the friction. Hear her call out my name in that sleep-husky voice of hers.

I’ve never craved anyone as much as I crave Leti, and not just physically.

If I could figure out a way to hack into her brain, analyze and dissect every thought she’s ever had about me, I’d do it in a heartbeat, even if it meant prying myself away from her pliant body to do so.

She has no idea how much space she’s taken up inside me, heart and mind and body and soul.

Meanwhile, I have no idea how much, if at all, I occupy her thoughts. If I mean anything to her at all.

Even now, as her legs wrap around my waist, it’s killing me not knowing if any shred of what I feel for her is mutual.

She holds all her cards close to her chest. Every wall I’ve broken down has fallen away in chunks, piece by piece, never all at once.

If I tell her how much she means to me while I’m caught up in her physically, there’s a chance she’ll cut and run on me.

“Should we be doing this?” she asks. “How are you feeling?”

“I’m okay, I promise,” I tell her. “My head barely hurts anymore, and the last thing on my mind right now is sleeping.”
