33. Sienna

SIENNA

I’m exhausted by the time I pull into the parking garage under my apartment building.

It’s only early evening, and I only had a two-hour flight, but I feel like I’ve been traveling all day. All I want to do is shower the scent of airplane off me, put on some comfy pajamas, and curl up on my couch with some home renovation show playing in the background while I doomscroll.

But the second I turn toward my allocated parking bay, it soon becomes obvious that my plans might have just changed.

My heart thunders in my chest and my temperature spikes as it becomes harder than ever to concentrate on not crashing.

No sooner have I brought the car to a stop than my driver’s door is thrown open, and not a second later, I’m being lifted out of my seat.

“I missed you,” Calvin rasps. I swear his lips find mine before my feet hit the floor. It’s…it’s not what I was expecting.

His hands lock around my waist as his tongue sweeps into my mouth, tasting me as if he hasn’t been able to for years.

My palms find his chest, and as our kiss deepens, my fingers twist in the fabric of his T-shirt, holding him in place. Not that he’s showing any signs of wanting to escape.

A deep moan rumbles at the back of his throat, and it tingles through me, settling in my core.

“Fuck.” He groans, finally pulling his lips from mine. But he doesn’t pull back; instead, he rests his forehead against mine and stares down into my eyes.

I blink up at him, unable to catch my breath, let alone figure out what’s happening here.

“Were you…were you waiting for me?”

“Of course I was. I was tracking your flight. I knew you’d landed before you messaged.”

I can’t stop my smile from breaking free.

A laugh tumbles free as I gaze up at him.

“Why are you laughing?” he asks quietly, his brows pinching.

“Garrett knows we’ve been messaging,” I confess, remembering his attempts to bribe me out of information before I left Idaho.

“I think we’ve been doing more than messaging, darlin’.”

The reminder of the other night sends fire shooting through my veins.

“Um…yeah. Well, I didn’t tell him about that. He was very keen to know every single detail, though. Mostly about you.”

“Is that right?” he asks, dropping his head so he can nuzzle my neck.

“Yes,” I gasp as he sucks on the sweet spot of skin beneath my ear. “I—I didn’t tell him anything.”

“So you didn’t mention how hard you came for me the other night?”

Fuck. How did I forget about his filthy mouth?

“Nope. That can be our little secret,” I whisper as he kisses along my jaw, his eyes finding mine again.

“I like having secrets with you,” he mutters before claiming my lips again.

I lose myself for another minute or two before I remember where we are and press against his ridiculously muscular chest.

“We should go upstairs.”

His eyes blaze with desire. “Good idea. Come on.”

He takes my hand, twisting our fingers together and tugging me toward the trunk.

He pops it open and pulls my suitcase out.

“I can take that,” I say, concerned about him hurting himself.

“This is nothing compared to what I lifted earlier. I’ve got this,” he says before leading me toward the elevator.

The second we’re inside and the doors slide closed, the air changes. It’s thick with tension and charged with electricity. And when Calvin turns to look at me, I swear it vanishes altogether, because it’s impossible to breathe.

“You look beautiful.”

I lift my hand and absently smooth my hair down. I feel like a mess after traveling, but the way he’s looking at me…I might as well have just walked off a runway.

He takes a step forward, and I instinctively take one back.

His brow wrinkles as he searches my eyes.

“I’m not running,” I assure him. More teasing.

“If you feel like you need to, all you’ve got to do is tell me,” he says sincerely. “Just tell me your limits and I’ll respect them.”

He moves a little closer and reaches out, cupping my jaw.

“I just want you; everything else is a bonus.”

My eyes shutter as I try to process what he’s saying.

It’s so at odds with everything I’ve known about this man for so long that it’s hard to believe it.

But I do. I see it in his eyes.

“Just take it slow,” I whisper, trying not to drown in the shame that claws at me like an illness.

I so desperately want to be like the woman he’s used to being with. I want to be able to throw caution to the wind and enjoy myself. But it’s not that easy. Maybe one day…

“That was already my plan, darlin’.”

I’m so lost in his ocean-blue eyes that I don’t realize we’ve arrived at my floor until the doors slide open.

Together, we make our way to my apartment, and after digging out my key, I let us both in.

I half expect him to pick up where we left off, and I can’t lie, I’m disappointed when he doesn’t immediately back me up against the wall and kiss the life out of me.

“Did you have any plans for tonight?” he asks after depositing my suitcase in the hallway and following me to the kitchen. I pull the fridge open and untwist the top of a bottle of water.

“Nope. No plans. You?”

“Kinda depends on you.”

“Oh?” I ask, more than a little intrigued.

He smirks, mischief dancing in his eyes. “I’ve got everything under control.”

I narrow my eyes.

“Do you trust me?”

I nod before I’ve even thought about the answer. It’s a knee-jerk reaction that I might regret in the coming weeks or months, but right now, it’s the truth.

“Good,” he states before spinning on his heels and marching in the direction of my bedroom.

“Calvin, what are you doing?” I cry, racing after him to see what he’s up to.

After abandoning my suitcase in my bedroom, he marches into my bathroom.

I hit the doorway as the sound of the faucet running hits my ears. And my next breath is filled with the scent of vanilla and coconut. My bubble bath.

He’s…he’s running me a bath.

He looks around—searching for what, I have no idea. “Do you have any—” He cuts himself off when he opens the cabinet and finds what he’s looking for.

I spend the next minute or two watching him light candles and place them around the tub.

Holy shit.

He checks the temperature again before turning toward me. Fisting my hoodie, he tugs me into him.

“Get naked, darlin’. It’s time to relax.”

My mouth opens and closes, unable to find any words that are suitable for this moment.

“You’ve got an hour. Is that enough?”

I nod.

“You’ve got your cell?”

Another nod.

“If you need me, message me. I’ll be right there.”

There’s a little voice in my head screaming that what I need is him in the bath with me. But that is the literal opposite of taking it slow, so I push it down and do my best to ignore it.

“Okay,” I finally force out.

He lifts his hand and tucks a lock of hair behind my ear.

“I’m gonna take your keys because I need to shoot upstairs to get some things.”

“Okay,” I repeat.

He smiles down at me before ducking his head and brushing his lips across mine. It’s the sweetest kiss, and so different from what we had downstairs. But it’s equally as teasing.

“There’s one rule,” he states.

“Oh?”

“Under no circumstances do you get yourself off in that tub.”

My breath catches. The thought hadn’t occurred to me, but now that he mentions it…

The throb between my thighs makes itself known.

“Be a good girl for me, Sienna.” He ducks down again, but this time, he doesn’t go for my lips. Instead, he moves to whisper in my ear. “If you are, I might reward you for it later.”

My knees buckle, and I reach for the counter to steady myself.

He smirks at me, more than aware of what he’s doing to me.

Well played, Killer. Well freaking played.

“I’ll see you soon,” he says before kissing the tip of my nose and ducking out of the room, closing the door behind him.

I stand frozen on the spot, listening to his retreating steps for a few seconds before I make quick work of shedding my clothes, twisting my hair up onto the top of my head, and stepping into the water.

I groan as the heat seeps into my sore muscles.

This was such a good idea. Why was I ever going to have a shower?

As I settle into position, I try to hear Calvin, but everything seems to be silent.

Maybe he’s already left to get whatever he needs from his apartment.

Closing my eyes, I tell my mind to shut off and just enjoy. But that’s easier said than done when my body is buzzing with desire.

Absently, my hand lifts toward my face, my fingers brushing my lips.

I’ve kissed my fair share of guys in the past. But I can honestly say that not a single one has elicited this kind of reaction from me. My lips are still tingling, just like somewhere else in my body.

I squeeze my thighs together. But it doesn’t help. In fact, it makes it worse.

Goddamn it, Calvin.

As if he knows I’m thinking about being a bad girl, my cell vibrates on the counter, and when I reach for it, I discover that he hasn’t just sent me a message; he’s sent a voice note.

Oh Jesus.

“Hey, darlin’. Just checking to make sure you’ve remembered the rules.

No touching that pretty little pussy. I know you want to, I could see it in your eyes before I left you.

” I whimper as the deep timbre of his voice rumbles through the room.

“The next time you come, it’s going to be me making it happen.

I don’t care how; you could grind up on my thigh if you want.

Or I can use my fingers. My mouth. My tongue.

If you don’t want me to touch you, I could use that sexy, not-so-little vibrator you left on your counter.

Don’t think I missed that. I get so fucking hot thinking about you lying in bed at night using it on yourself as you think about me.

Just remember, you set the pace here. All I want to do is make you feel better than you ever have before.

Watching you come is my new favorite thing to do, and I need to see it again as much as I need my next breath. ”

I’m fucking panting.

“Good girls get rewarded, darlin’. Just remember that. See you soon.”

“Ho-ly. Fuck,” I breathe, sinking deeper into the water, my fingers curling into fists as I fight the carnal need to touch myself while listening to that message on repeat.
