I sat in my car waiting, wondering where the hell Ags was. I sent her another message and rolled down my window. As it slowly rolled down, I heard a crash of glass upstairs.
Instinct kicked in, and I jumped out of the car, running up the stairs two at a time as I reached Ags’ apartment.
The door hung open, Ru was on the ground near the door, her eyes crossed with a dazed expression and a split lip. I stepped in and scanned the room to see Jack pressing Ags against the wall. Glass sprayed onto the floor from a vase.
“Let her go.” I spoke through my teeth as I approached Ags. Having a relationship with her was a risk, but now she needed me more than I needed my job.
“Get your own bitch.” Jack didn’t turn to look at me.
Anger spiked, and I stormed over, grabbing him by the neck and yanking him back. He fumbled and landed on his ass.
“You!” He recognized me, his anger turning into shock.
“Cops.” Ru had her phone out in her hand as she continued to struggle.
“Don’t you fucking dare call the cops.” Jack struggled to get to his feet, but I knocked him back on his ass.
“Don’t even fucking try it.” I kept myself between Ags and Jack. She placed her hand on my back, and I pulled in a breath. I knew she was okay enough to do that, but I was still worried about her.
“If the cops come, what will you say?” she whispered into my ear, and I shrugged. My mind tried coming up with a reason for me to be in this area.
“Are you okay?” I asked, while keeping my eyes on Jack. This wasn’t the first time I’d seen a male student go after a woman who’d said no. It was utterly ridiculous for it to continue on.
“My throat hurts.” Her voice cracked, and I pulled her over so I could see her while keeping my eye on Jack. He fumbled to his feet, looking like he was going to bolt.
The wail of the siren was my deadline, and I turned to look at Ags. Her throat was bright red from a hand, and my anger spiked.
“You tried to choke her?” I roared as the cops came in with their guns drawn. They put them away, one helping Ru while calling an ambulance.
“What happened?” the officer asked. Jack and Ags started talking over each other.
“You wait.” He told Jack and looked at me and Ags.
“He banged on my door, and when my friend opened it to tell him to fuck off, he punched her in the face and chased after me. Pinned me against the wall until my teacher pulled him off.” She glanced at me.
“Teacher?” the cop asked, and I focused on him.
“Yes, officer. I heard the crash when I was walking, and I ran up to check it out. Found two of my students. Jack was holding Agatha against the wall. I asked him to back up, and when he didn’t, I pulled him off and kept him away from the women.”
“I’ve heard enough.” He grabbed Jack and put him in cuffs, reading him his Miranda rights as Jack tried to explain his side of the situation. There really wasn’t anything he could say to get him out of this assault charge.
“Do you need to go to the hospital?” the other officer asked while standing over Ru.
“I think—” Ags started, but I turned to glare at her. “Fine.” She swallowed hard, and I nodded.
With her being held by her throat, they needed to make sure it didn’t keep swelling and close off her airway.
G etting the women to the closest hospital was a bit of a mess. Agatha was focused on Ru and her possible concussion.
Ags leaned into me, which helped calm some of my anger toward Jack and his stupid as shit actions.
“What excuse are you using for coming with us?” Ags whispered into my ear, and I chuckled.
Honestly, I hadn’t thought about it. I knew she needed me. I pondered my response as we pulled up to the hospital in the same ambulance.
“I want to make sure my student is well before I depart. My conscience wouldn’t allow me to leave before.” I arched my brow in a challenging way.
Ru snorted on the bed, and I glanced over at her.
“You okay?” the woman asked, and Ru started to nod then winced.
“That hurt like a fucking bitch. I swear to God if I find Jack in a back alleyway, I’ll fuck him up.” She spoke through her teeth, and I wondered if that was a good idea.
“Fucker caught you off guard, only reason why he got in.” Ags nodded.
Interesting.
The woman started rattling off stats for Ru, and I helped Ags climb into a bed they brought out to meet us with outside the ambulance. She groaned as she fell back.
“You the good guy?” one of the nurses asked, and I nodded.
“Good. Now go wait in the waiting room while we examine them.” One nurse approached me and tried to lead me away.
“No.” Ags scrambled to get up, and I lifted my hand to calm her down, but it wasn’t working. I think the shock was still lingering in her veins.
“It’s okay. I’ll wait.” I smiled at her.
“I don’t…” Her voice cracked again. “Alone,” she muttered as she pleaded with the nurse moving her bed.
“Fine. Come on, but if you get in the way, you’re out.” She was firm, and I didn’t doubt her resolve.
“Got it.”
Ru was already being wheeled off, and I trailed after Ags into the emergency area. They were placed in rooms next to each other. I kept back to make sure I didn’t get in the way as Ags struggled to talk to the nurse.
“The asshat grabbed her by the throat. Not sure how long, but the marks tell me it was too fucking tight.” I motioned toward Ags’ throat, and the nurse’s lips pursed. She leaned in closer to whisper something into Ags ear, and she shook her head violently.
“Okay. I needed to make sure.” She placed her hand on Agatha’s shoulder.
Nurse must’ve suspected I was the one who’d hurt her. The only pain she’d ever gotten from me was her ass slapped as I fucked her from behind. And she loved it.
Fucking hell, I can’t be getting hard right now!
The nurse spoke to the doctor, explaining that Ags was having difficulty talking.
“We’ll monitor the swelling for the next few hours and see if it gets any worse.” He started feeling Ags’s neck, and she winced, pulling away. “Sorry about that. It’s unavoidable.”
“Anything else happen before he came in? Maybe we should do an exam?” the nurse offered, and Ags shook her head. Part of me wondered what he’d have done to her if I’d waited any longer or worse…drove off.
“Clothes were still on,” I mentioned, and the doctor turned to look at me.
“That’s good to hear. Is there any chance you could be pregnant?” the doctor asked, and I focused on Ags.
She paused.
Wait, why the fuck is she pausing?!
