15. Kiera

Kiera

K iera arrived on campus Monday morning only to find that her first class of the day had been canceled. The room was empty and there was a hastily scribbled note on the whiteboard – Prof. Wilhelm out sick, see you Tuesday.

Kiera had never been happier about a canceled class.

She’d let her hand brush covertly across Hunter’s backside on her way out the door thirty minutes earlier as she was leaving the house and had trouble getting Hunter out of her mind ever since.

Now she could go home and spend a couple of hours with her – and Nana, of course – before her next class at noon.

Ever since their kiss by the pond (and then again in the kitchen, and in the foyer, and in all of the too-brief moments when they were alone), Kiera had wanted nothing more than to spend every moment with Hunter.

Of course, that was a tall order given their conflicting schedules, so Kiera raced back to Nana’s house as fast as she could to take advantage of this unexpected opportunity.

When she got home, her mother's car was parked in front of the house and Kiera thought with a big smile, This day just keeps getting better.

Her mom rarely visited in the middle of the day unless she had plans to take Nana to a doctor’s appointment or something like that, and the odds that Kiera and Hunter would have some actual alone time were getting better with every step Kiera took toward the house.

She found Hunter and her mother helping Nana into her jacket in the foyer and tried to suppress a smile.

“Hey, what’s going on?” she asked.

When Hunter saw her, there was a glimmer of excitement in her eyes, too. Kiera’s pulse quickened merely at her proximity, and she loved feeling those gorgeous hazel eyes on her.

“Hi honey,” her mom said with a touch of surprise. She let Hunter take over jacket duty while she gave Kiera a hug. “I thought you had class this morning.”

“I thought so, too,” Kiera said. “It was canceled so I figured I’d come home for a while.”

“Your grandmother and I are headed to the salon,” her mom said. “Want to come with us?”

“No,” Kiera said. “I don’t think I have quite that much time – you and Nana are always at the salon for hours.”

Which was all the better for her and Hunter. Kiera was getting turned on already at the very idea of finally being alone with her, and she resisted the urge to lick her lips hungrily as she glanced over at her.

“What’s wrong with a little pampering?” Kiera’s mom asked, brushing her long, glossy hair over her shoulder in an exaggerated gesture.

“Nothing,” Kiera said, smiling. “Take your time. You two enjoy yourselves.”

“Oh, we will,” her mother said, going over and looping her arm in Nana’s to help her to the door.

“Hunter, you don’t mind waiting here until we get back, do you?

My daughter is a lover of hyperbole and despite her claims, I think we’ll be back around noon, maybe one o’clock if we decide to go to a restaurant for lunch. ”

“That’s no problem,” Hunter said. “If you don’t eat, call ahead on your way back and I’ll have something ready for you.”

“Thank you, dear,” Nana said, then turned to Kiera’s mom and said, “Isn’t she wonderful?”

Kiera’s mom agreed, then said goodbye to Kiera and Hunter and helped Nana out the door. As the door swung shut behind them, Kiera sauntered over to Hunter and said, “I didn’t know my mom was coming today.”

“She just showed up about fifteen minutes ago,” Hunter said. “I guess there was a last-minute opening at the salon and she wanted to get Abby’s hair done.”

Kiera twined her fingers through Hunter’s and her pulse was pounding in her ears by now. There was less than a foot of air between them and she looked up into those hazel eyes as she said, “I guess we have the house to ourselves for a few hours.”

She bit her lip and Hunter smiled, saying, “What should we do?”

Her eyes ran down Kiera’s body, making her skin feel hot everywhere her gaze lingered. The curve of her breasts, down the center of her stomach, the place where the hem of her skirt brushed against her thighs.

“I can think of one thing,” Kiera breathed.

Then she grabbed the front of Hunter’s shirt, pulling her in. Their bodies collided and Hunter put her hands on Kiera’s hips. She squeezed them, making her desire known. Then Kiera couldn’t take it anymore. It had been weeks of passing each other like ships in the night, a kiss here, a touch there.

She had to have Hunter, now.

“Come with me,” Kiera said, taking a step backward toward the staircase without releasing her grip on Hunter’s shirt.

“Yes, ma’am,” Hunter said, trailing after her.

They made their way clumsily up the staircase, stopping to kiss and tease each other on almost every step, then Kiera led Hunter to a door at the end of the wide hallway – her bedroom. She stepped inside, finally releasing Hunter’s shirt as she kicked the door shut again behind her.

“What do you think?” she asked, putting out her hands to draw attention to the room.

“Would it be rude to say that I don’t care about décor right now?” Hunter asked, her eyes fixed on Kiera.

“No,” she answered. “In fact, I might be offended if you did.”

Then she closed the gap between them, allowing her hips to move seductively and her skirt to sway from side to side with every step.

The motion was not lost on Hunter and Kiera noticed the way her eyes shifted to her body again, trailing slowly down from Kiera’s eyes to her lips, then to the curve of her neck and farther down, lingering over her breasts and then down to the long, smooth stems of her legs.

Kiera desperately wanted Hunter’s hands to follow the same path.

She slid her fingers through Hunter’s belt loops and used them to pull their hips together.

Then she looked into those stunning hazel eyes again.

Hunter was a few inches taller and when she hooked Kiera’s chin with one finger, tilting her head up to look at her, a powerful shiver of desire rippled through Kiera’s body.

Hunter didn’t kiss her just yet, though.

She brought her lips close to Kiera’s, close enough that she could feel Hunter’s words on her skin. She closed her eyes and said, “I really like you, Kiera.”

Another shiver ran through her and heat radiated from her core. She was already wet and Hunter hadn’t touched any part of her except for her chin.

Kiera whispered, “I really like you, too.”

Then finally, Hunter allowed their lips to meet again.

Her breath was sweet and her skin was warm.

She wrapped her arms around Kiera’s waist and held her in an embrace that felt protective and strong.

Kiera melted into her and slid her hands up Hunter’s sides.

Even with all the covert kisses and stolen moments they’d shared over the last couple of weeks, this was the first time Kiera had felt Hunter’s body so completely pressed against her own.

It felt so right.

She was perfect.

Kiera slid her hands up Hunter’s sides and gently along the outer curves of her breasts, thrilling at the touch. Then she continued upward, over Hunter’s neck where she could feel her pulse racing just as fast as her own.

She ran her fingers through Hunter’s hair and opened her mouth to admit her tongue.

Then she started walking slowly backward toward the large, four-poster bed in the center of the room. Hunter matched her step for step, keeping her body firmly pressed against Kiera’s and their lips never parted as they lay down on the bed.
