Epilogue
Scarlett slipped on the satin bridal slippers and stood, allowing Samantha to add the last few touches to her hair.
Rayne passed her the earrings Ty sent over this morning with a note saying, ‘Meet me at our spot. I’m anticipating breaking all the rules with you.’ They matched her engagement ring. Kassie adjusted the veil, and Rayne handed her a bouquet.
Ice wore a tux and stood as the official ring bearer.
“It’s time,” Cherise called out. “Oh, my sweet girl, you’ll take his breath away.”
“Thank you. Did you get a chance to talk to Ty?” Scarlett asked.
“Today’s about you,” Cherise insisted.
“No. It’s about family. We want you to move into the guest house. You’ll have your own space, and we can see each other whenever you want. Plus, Barb and Edie want your help at the community center. You know you miss Serenity,” Scarlett coaxed.
“Yes, I’ll agree to it. After you and Ty return from your honeymoon,” she insisted.
“I can’t believe Victoria gave us her house in Ireland for two weeks. Ty’s already made a foodie map of all the places we must visit,” she said, laughing.
“If you return with a grandbaby like Kassie did, I can’t say I’ll be disappointed,” Cherise hinted.
Scarlett shook her head. “We’re taking time for us, first. Then, we’ll decide on a few rugrats.”
“Your father’s waiting by the horse. He still doesn’t understand how you ride him by yourself,” her mother exclaimed. “Do you think it’s safe?”
“Nothing’s ever completely safe, Mom. We all have to take risks sometimes,” she said, reaching for Ice.
Patch and Knight helped her mount Hank, then headed to the lake with her parents. Kassie drove the other women down to help her adjust her dress once she entered.
She leaned down and patted Hank. “Take me to the lake, Hank. We’re about to become a family.”
Hank nickered in reply and turned on the dirt road, leading her to her future. Ice trotted on her left side, always watching her.
The wind blew gently, and the trees rustled in greeting.
She heard the music as Hank approached their small wedding party, which included Rayne as her maid of honor, the team, their wives, and her parents.
Sledge and Rocker met her at the end of the aisle, kissing her on the cheek before she greeted her father. Then she’d meet her future.
Ty dabbed at his eyes as he saw Scarlett riding Hank. She appeared like an avenging angel defying life’s curveballs. She texted him this morning to let him know they were officially condom free. He impatiently waited for time alone with his wife.
His wife. He loved the sound of it. He anticipated spending a lifetime together.
The construction crew would soon start on his new venture with Bryanna and the community center, leaving him to enjoy time with his new family.
His life finally felt complete. Anticipating breaking the rules with her by his side, he glanced up, seeing Scarlett walk toward him.
She radiated happiness and promised him a life full of adventure.
She may appear blind to the rest of the world, but he knew she saw more than most. She no longer lived in the darkness. She embraced the light.
