Chapter 66

CHAPTER SIXTY-SIX

Kellan.

—From Lyvia’s list.

Ifell.

For how long, I didn’t know.

Minutes. Hours. Centuries, perhaps.

I was alone, but I wasn’t. Just like I was never really alone. Tiberius was here, but his body was gone, his mind quiet. Darkness was everywhere, a windless tunnel devouring every sound, every breath my lungs dared to make.

A single thought anchored me to my destination, my mind chanting his name repeatedly. Every memory, every touch of our wind, every breath of his scent, all of it exploding in my mind like his spark of power.

Vael needed him, I reminded myself.

My feet slammed onto slimy, wet ground. I stood, blinking against the darkness in an attempt to make out my surroundings.

I took a breath.

A real breath, in my real body. I reached deep within that chasm of power before I stopped, as the eerie awareness of another’s presence crept up my neck like a spider.

I am not afraid of the dark.

I took another breath. One… Two… And then a voice.

“Hello, Lyvia.”
