Chapter 18 #2

It lasted longer than imaginable, yet not long enough.

When we were through, we stood there panting.

I inched us back until I could sit on the built-in bench in the shower.

I sat, holding her tightly against me, so I remained buried inside of her.

Once seated, we let the glow consume us. No words were necessary.

???

I knew I was walking around work with a smile on my face, but I couldn’t help it. Last night with Aubrielle had been incredible. After our shower sex, we ended up in bed. We never made it to the clubhouse. What we ended up doing was having sex two more times before we fell asleep exhausted.

Waking up this morning, I found my cock was slightly sore, and Aubrielle admitted she was too, but not enough that if I’d had time, we wouldn’t have gone again.

Before I left the house, I made her promise to soak in the tub.

A little soreness I was fine with, but no way did I want her to hurt. She promised she would.

Presently, I was seated in Reaper’s office. We were reviewing production schedules and finances. The month was three-fourths over, and we were on track to beat last month’s profits.

“You’re smiling an awful lot. Have that good a day at work?” Reaper asked unexpectedly.

I smirked. “Reaper, I love my job, but not that much. And if I’m smiling, it’s no different than how you are some days when you come in and do it and whistle.”

Pres’s grin widened. “Ah, that’s why. I figured. It’s fantastic when you have what we have with our old ladies. I know what’s happening with her family is stressful, but you’re both holding up well.”

“We’re trying. I wish that I hadn’t been such a moron and refused to go after what I wanted two years ago. If I had, her family would be a distant memory, we’d be married, and who knows, we might already have our first kid, or at least be pregnant.”

“You can’t think that way. There was a reason. Who knows? If you had made your intentions clear, Elle might not have been ready to accept you. She’s grown a lot as a person over the past two years. Her confidence is greater. It happened when it was meant to,” he suggested.

I thought about what he said. And the more I thought it over, the more I believed he was right. I nodded.

“You’re right. Now, all we have to do is clean up her fucked-up family and their associates, and we’re free.”

“It’s coming soon. I can feel it,” Reaper said.

“I hope so. She deserves not to have that hanging over her head. I don’t mind talking all day about my Dazzler, but the boss is something of a hardass. We might want to do some more work, too.” I teased.

Reaper laughed, and then we got back to work.

???

Church was over, and we were hanging out in the common room.

The entire club was there despite it being a Monday night.

Spawn and Kimera were seated at the table with us, along with a few others.

The conversation had been casual, or so it seemed, until Jonas came to the table and set down bottles of water in the middle.

He did it without being asked, knowing several of us drank a lot of water.

As he went to walk off, Spawn stopped him.

“Hold up. Stay a minute.”

Jonas did as asked. He waited.

“I believe there’s something you want to share with Elle and Shadow, isn’t there?” Spawn asked.

Jonas’s face showed first shock, then discomfort.

“What?” I asked.

Jonas glanced from me to Spawn, then he asked, “How did you know?”

“Son, I have everything around here looped in. When I was nosing around and found there had been certain activity, I dug. Imagine my surprise when I discovered what happened and who did it.”

The voices surrounding us died away. Now, everyone was glued to the conversation.

“Jonas, what did you do?” Maniac asked sternly.

When it came to Jonas, Maniac was like a dad to him, as he was to other kids from the Fortress. I watched Jonas straighten. His face became a mask of calm acceptance.

“I did what was necessary. I was charged with keeping Elle safe at school. That’s what I did. I won’t apologize for doing it,” he replied firmly.

“How did you keep her safe?” I asked.

“Those four assholes approached Elle at school. You know that.” He paused to see my nod before continuing.

“They threatened to keep harassing her and, by extension, her friend, Leigh. I knew they meant it. And what would happen when this thing with her family is over, and Elle has to go to classes without me? I wanted to ensure she didn’t have those twats to worry about.”

“How did you ensure that?” Maniac asked.

“Go on, tell them,” Spawn encouraged.

“I spoke to Benji about it. He hacked into the college’s student records, specifically into their course records.

Benji wiped every credit they’d earned. There’s no record that they ever took the classes, let alone what their grades were.

And before you say the college can recover them, no, they can’t.

Somehow, Benji accessed the cloud backups and the redundant files on their server and erased them, too.

If they want to continue to get their education, they have to start over.

And who would want to attend the same college that erased your entire academic record? ”

The silence that followed was complete, hanging there for ten seconds or more before there was an audible reaction. Cheers, shouts of amusement, and more sounded throughout the room. Maniac rose to his feet. He hugged and backslapped Jonas on the shoulder when the uproar died away.

“That was a brilliant move,” Maniac stated.

“I’m pissed,” Spawn said, causing the voices to lower and all eyes to shift to him. He was frowning.

“Why?” Jonas asked hesitantly.

“Because I didn’t fucking think of it. And I wasn’t the one to do it and get the fun out of it,” he complained.

Relief shone on Jonas’s face as Maniac playfully shoved Spawn, who grinned.

“Jonas, I never asked you to do that,” Aubrielle said.

Before Jonas could reply, she kept going.

“But I’m thrilled you did it. It couldn’t happen to nicer people.

Leigh called me today. She told me that those four have been picking on others at the college.

It was so bad with one girl that she dropped out of school.

Others have suffered due to those four. I think they should learn that this was due to their own karma. ”

Jonas grinned as he replied, “I thought the same, so I had Benji draft and send an email that said essentially they got what they deserved. And before you ask, Spawn, Benji assured me, they can’t trace it.”

I watched as my old lady jumped out of her chair, rushed around the table, and hugged Jonas. He blushed as he patted her back. He was proving himself a Punisher every day. In four months, he’d be at his two-year mark as a prospect. I had no doubts he’d earn his patch and road name. I couldn’t wait.

Once Aubrielle reseated herself and Jonas went back to the bar, I noticed Spawn whispering in Kimera’s ear. She was smiling and nodding. My curiosity about what they were saying was appeased a moment later, when Spawn announced loudly.

“Kimera and I have something we want to say.”

Everyone’s attention settled on them. Rico came rushing by his parents, prompting his dad to scoop him up in his arms. Rico giggled and gave his dad and mom a kiss before he was set back on the ground to race off. The bigger kids were playing around the room.

“She-wolf and I want you to know that we’re giving Rico a sibling.”

Whatever else he would’ve said was put on hold as everyone expressed their joy. The couple accepted congratulations, then waited for the uproar to fade before Spawn continued.

“I know you want to know when and all that. I’ll let Kimera tell you that part.”

She smiled at him, then spoke. “I’m thirteen weeks along.

We waited until the first trimester passed.

Many of you weren’t aware, but I was pregnant at the end of last year.

I miscarried when I was six weeks along, so I didn’t want to say anything until I was sure this one would stick.

We’re out of the high-risk window. We haven’t found out what we’re having, but my due date is January twenty-seventh of next year. ”

When she finished, people gathered to hug and shake hands with the clearly happy couple. Observing their happiness and the club’s, I couldn’t wait to give Aubrielle a ring and then get married. I was counting the days until her family was a distant memory so that I could do it.
