Chapter 13 Shade
Shade
She glimmered like a golden sculpture.
The suns shone upon her skin as though covering her in a million tiny kisses.
An unpleasant sensation boiled in my veins at that thought. It tightened my muscles, ached in my teeth.
The town would not shut up about this damned ball.
All everyone could talk about, think about, was this stupid fucking ball.
Miss and Mister Moonvale.
It was frivolous. All of it.
Except…
Miss and Mister Moonvale. Miss and Mister Moonvale. Was that…
If my other plan failed, this could be my chance to secure her hand.
Was this stupid ball how Moonvale determined her new rulers? It was a bit odd, sure, but if that was the case…
My spine straightened.
Something about the concept of the ball rang familiar, bounced around inside my skull and jostled crumbs loose, but, as with everything else, I could not place it.
Ginger was my mate. My wife. My missus. And there was no room for argument.
It would be so.
The ball was an opportunity for two to be crowned supreme.
I was already supreme. I knew it in the very marrow of my bones. A ruler, I simply was.
These folk were below me. All of them.
Except for my goddess.
We would reign supreme, both of us.
