Chapter 34

Reyansh

Pregnant. Kavya is pregnant. She’s carrying my child, our child. Happiness feels like an understatement compared to what I am feeling. Each day, when I think I couldn’t possibly love her more, she proves me wrong, making my heart swell and overflow with love for her. Words can’t even express how thrilled I am at the thought of becoming a dad. It still feels surreal that the beautiful woman I love so insanely is now carrying our child.

With the ten-carat diamond solitaire tucked in my pocket, I pull away from the jewellery store, eager to see Kavya . I understand she needs time to think about marriage , and though I am willing to give her that, I need to see a ring on her finger. I fucking want to mark her as mine for the world to see. I am not backing down on this, even if it means going to war with her. That’s why I took a detour to find the ring that would look perfect on her.

Stepping out of my car, I head towards her office. This is yet another thing that grates on my nerves. I want her to quit, now that she’s carrying our child, but her stubborn refusal to budge has me fretting. The thought of anything happening to her or our baby sends a chill down my spine. If something were to go wrong, it would shatter me completely, beyond repair. She is my everything, and the idea of losing her or our unborn child is unbearable. I need her to see that all I want is to protect her and keep my family safe. Yes, my family. She and our baby are my family, my heart.

“I still love you, Kavya. I know I messed up, but please, I need you back. Give me a chance.”

I stop dead in my tracks outside her office door, those words hitting me like a blow.

“Deepak, you need to go,” I hear Kavya say, and though that should make me happy, I just can’t calm the rage within me.

“Kavya, please...” I don’t hear the rest of the jerk’s voice as I push the door open, causing Kavya to snap her gaze towards me.

My anger flares as I take in the scene before me—she is standing beside the jerk next to her desk, looking stunning in a black, form-fitting knee-length dress, her hair cascading in gentle curls over her shoulders.

“Reyansh…” Kavya’s voice wavers as I move toward her, her eyes wide.

“Don’t you know how to knock, mister? We’re in the middle of something,” the jerk snaps at me, clearly annoyed by my interruption.

“What the hell are you doing here?” I bark, ignoring his statement as I wrap my hands around Kavya’s waist, pulling her closer to me.

His eyes drop to my hands on her waist, and he frowns before looking back at me. “I am here to talk to Kavya.”

“She’s not interested. Leave,” I hiss, pointing to the door.

“I am not leaving,” he states firmly, holding my gaze. “I have matters to discuss with Kavya.”

Narrowing my eyes at him, I glare sternly. “Like I give a damn about what you have to say. I suggest you get the hell out of here before I make you regret for showing up.”

“Kavya and I...” he begins, but he doesn’t get to finish as I am in his space, gripping his collar tightly.

“There is no Kavya and you. Stay the fuck away from my fiancée,” I say through gritted teeth.

“Reyansh, please let him go,” Kavya begs, her hands gripping my arms as she tries to pull me away. Ignoring her plea, I tighten my grip, keeping my gaze fixed on the asshole in front of me.

“Don’t you see, man? Fiancée or not, she still loves me and cares for me. After all, I am her first, and I will always own a part of her heart,” he smirks at me, and that’s all it takes for me to lose whatever thin thread I was hanging onto and punch him square in the nose.

“What the fuck, man?” he curses, holding his bleeding nose.

“You fucking don’t own her, not even a goddamn speck!” I growl, grabbing his collar again. “You think she still loves you, or that she ever did? You’re fucking wrong. She loves me, and only me,” I hiss. “She’s mine in every way you couldn’t make her.” Now, it’s my turn to smirk back at him. “You weren’t her first, but I was,” I state bluntly.

His eyes widen at my words, and he gulps audibly. His gaze briefly flickers with hurt as he looks at Kavya before I yank his collar, bringing his focus back to me. “You have no idea what turns her on, but I know every touch that drives her wild. You don’t know how she sounds when she moans in pleasure, but I’ve heard her moan my name. The look on her face when she comes? I’ve seen that beautiful face of hers when she comes for me. And how she tastes? I’ve savoured every inch of her with my mouth and hands.” I know it’s beneath me to say those words, but the jerk had it coming. “You are not her first in any way that matters.”

“I... I need to go,” he stammers, clearly flustered.

“Make sure you don’t breathe the same air as her. Because next time, I won’t be as forgiving—I’ll make sure you end up in the hospital,” I warn sharply before letting go of his collar.

Without a word or a glance at Kavya, he turns and scurries out, slamming the door behind him.

“Did you have to be so crude?” Kavya snaps, making me turn my attention to her.

“I am not going to apologise for making it clear to him, or any jerk for that matter, that you are off-limits.”

She shakes her head, folding her hands over her chest. “I could have handled it on my own. You didn’t have to show up like some knight in shining armour.”

“Get used to it, sweetheart. Whenever jerks like him come around, I’ll always be here to scare them away,” I state, taking a step toward her. She instinctively takes a step back until her back hits the desk, and I cage her in. “I may wait for marriage and show you some patience, but you’re mine, Kavya. Don’t you ever forget it, not even for a second.”

“Trust me, that’s not something I’ll be forgetting,” she shoots back, irritated. Then, she closes her eyes and takes a few calming breaths before whispering, “I’ve given myself to you heart and soul. I am carrying your child. I am yours, Reyansh, until my last breath.”

Damn, this woman unravels me completely. “You own me, sweetheart. Every part of me.”

She opens her eyes and meets my gaze, her fingers gently tracing my jaw . “I love you, only you. You are the only one I want, Reyansh,” she says softly.

Leaning my forehead against hers, my breathing is ragged with the intensity of emotions she evokes in me. Now, the overpowering need to see her wear my ring consumes me more deeply than ever before. With my head resting against hers, I gently pull out the ring from my pocket and slip it onto her ring finger.

“Reyansh,” she breathes, surprised. I pull back slightly as she brings her hands up to stare at the ring.

“I know this might feel rushed and pushy, especially after you asked for time,” I say softly, gazing into her beautiful brown eyes. “But I needed to see a ring on your finger. My ring, to remind myself of how blessed I am to have you.”

I gently place my hands on her belly. “I can’t tell you how it makes me feel knowing you’re carrying our child and wearing my ring,” I slowly guide my hands from her belly up, feeling her breath quicken and mine follow suit, but I push my desires aside, continuing up until I reach for her neck and lightly brush my fingers against her, feeling her pulse beneath my touch. “I can’t wait for the day to see you wear my mangalsutra.” I bring my mouth close to her ear. “Tell me that day will come soon,” I whisper. “Tell me you’ll add my name to yours and make me the luckiest man alive and not keep me hanging for months.”

“I won’t,” she murmurs, burying her face into my neck and wrapping her hands around me. “I won’t make you wait for long.”

Holding her close, I plant a gentle kiss on top of her head . “You make me so happy every single day.”

She looks up at me with a tender smile. “And you make me happier than I ever imagined possible.”

“I am glad to hear that. It means I am achieving my goals,” I say with a smile as I tug her closer. She wraps her hands around my neck, gently playing with the back of my hair.

“I love you,” she says softly.

“I love you too, sweetheart,” I kiss her nose. “Come, let’s go home. I think you’ve worked enough for today.”

She shakes her head adamantly. “It’s only three. I clock out at six, mister, and I still have work to do.”

“You can take the rest of the day off. You’re pregnant,” I growl loudly.

She immediately covers my mouth with her hands. “Shhh... that’s our secret, remember?”

I gently kiss her fingers before she lowers her hands. “You know how much I hate keeping that a secret. All I want to do is shout from the rooftops that I am going to be a dad.”

“Soon, but for now, you need to leave so that I can get back to work,” she says, pulling herself out of my arms.

“Can’t you just call in sick or something? We can go back to my place, and then I can cuddle you,” I suggest, coaxing her gently.

“As tempting as it sounds, I can’t,” she replies firmly.

“Can you listen to me, just this once?” I huff.

“Nope, but you’re free to find someone who follows your orders. You have an easy way out from me,” she jokes, but I feel a surge of irritation at her words and cup her face firmly with my hands.

“There’s no easy way out for me or for you. I want only you, no one else. You’re stuck with me. And now, with our baby on the way, you’ve sealed your fate with me.”

She looks at me with a tender smile, her hand resting on my cheek. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“There’s my girl,” I grin at her. “Now, get to work. I’ll be here to pick you up sharp at six, and this time, I won’t listen to any excuses,” I say, earning an eye roll from her.

“Yes, boss,” she mock-salutes me, making me laugh.

I kiss her forehead before kneeling down to kiss her stomach. “Hey there, little one. Your stubborn mom needs some help, you know? She’s carrying you, and she needs both of us to take care of her. But she puts up a fight every time I try to help. Can you help me make her understand that she’s everything I’ve ever wanted? She needs to let me take care of her the way she deserves. Can you do that for me? Help me look after her, okay?”

I look up to see her eyes glisten, mirroring all the love I feel for her .

Rising to my feet, I kiss her lips tenderly before pulling back. “I better go before I throw you over my shoulder and take you away from here. Take care, sweetheart. I’ll be back soon to pick you up.”

“I’ll wait for you,” she replies softly.

Giving her one more kiss, I leave her office and walk to my car.

Pulling my car out of the parking lot, thoughts of Kavya flood my mind. It’s crazy — I’ve only just met her, and yet I can’t get enough of her. I love her smile, her laughter, and the way she makes everything feel perfect. Lost in these thoughts, I fail to notice the oncoming vehicle until it’s too late. The screech of tyres and the sudden, jarring impact are the last things I hear before everything turns black.
