CHAPTER 31

GRAYSON

“S o, how are you finding it having Daisy back in town permanently?” Hunter asks Killian, his tone cautious.

Killian shrugs, picking at the label on his beer. “I haven’t seen her much, to be honest.”

“You know she interviewed for a job here as a groomer?” Noah asks and I narrow my eyes at him. Fucker can’t keep his mouth shut about anything.

Killian’s eyes snap up to him before moving towards me and then Hunter. “She did?”

Hunter nods. “Yeah. And I offered her the job. She has great references from the three years she spent in Montana.”

Killian get a faraway look in his eyes as he responds. “So that’s where she went, huh?”

Noah leans forward in his chair and assesses his best friend. “You didn’t know that?”

He shakes his head. “No.”

“Well, I hope it doesn’t make you uncomfortable that we hired her,” Hunter says as he picks up another log and throws it in the firepit .

“Nah, man. It’s good that she’s putting down roots here.” Killian replies, throwing the rest of his beer bag and reaching for another.

“She’s moved in with Bella and Liv,” I inform him without thinking and three sets of eyes swing my way.

Noah is the first to speak, his mouth curling up with a knowing grin. “And how would you know that?”

I shrug, feigning nonchalance. “I know shit.”

Hunter tuts and rolls his eyes. “We all know you’re still sleeping with Liv.”

Huh. And here I thought we were being discreet. It’s not that I’m ashamed or embarrassed to admit that I’m sleeping with the girl, because I’m not. I just don’t want people to get the wrong idea about us. What we have going on right now is new and people speculating about our arrangement could cause unnecessary drama.

I look at the three of them. Noah is nodding his head vigorously with a boyish smile on his face. Killian looks like he’d rather be anywhere but here since speaking about Daisy, and Hunter’s looking at me like I must be stupid if I thought I could get anything passed him.

“Just ‘cause I know who she lives with, doesn’t mean I’m sleeping with her,” I argue pathetically.

Noah barks out a laugh. “Dude, her car was parked outside your house last week, and you’ve had your head in your phone every day this week.”

“Whatever,” I grumble as I take a drink.

“Where’s Sav tonight?” Killian asks Hunter, effectively changing the subject and I shoot him a grateful look.

“It’s girls’ night and Mom offered to have Reign for the night so we could each have the night to ourselves.”

Noah’s ears perk up at that. “I say we all go over there and crash their little slumber party. ”

Hunter laughs, shaking his head at our younger brother. “They aren’t having a slumber party. They’re at The Boot.”

“I crashed their girls’ night the last time, and it didn’t go well,” Killian interjects, shocking us all with this information.

“That’s where you went when you stormed out of Savannahs house?” Hunter asks.

“Yep. It was your girl who told me I was out of line.”

Hunter’s eyes widen. “She’s never told me that,” his face becomes thoughtful for a second before he chuckles, “mind you, I had to pry her and Liv out of the bushes that night. Those girls get messy on girls’ night.”

He’s not wrong there. I’ve seen the messier side of Liv on two occasions; the night she launched herself at me on the porch, and when she was throwing up on the side of the road.

“Well, lets go.” Noah says, tossing his bottle in the trash and walking off towards his truck without a backwards glance. I look between Hunter and Killian, both of whom are shaking their heads.

“We’re dead men walking,” Hunter groans as he stands and follows Noah.

“Looks like we’re crashing girls’ night,” Killian sighs as he stands. I follow after the three of them, a strange nervous excitement igniting in my blood at the prospect of seeing my Blue for the first time in days.

***

The first thing I notice when we climb out of my truck is the unusually loud music pulsing through the doors of The Dusty Boot. The second thing I notice is the mostly empty parking lot .

I frown. “It doesn’t seem to be busy,” I say as I come to join the others at Noah’s truck. I chose to drive myself here, mainly because then I can leave whenever I want to, but also because I’m hoping to get Liv alone at some point tonight.

Noah and Killian mirror my actions, taking stock of the three cars parked next to the truck. Hunter throws his head back with a half groan, half laugh.

“I told you. Messy.” He says as we make our way to the front doors. The sound that greets us when we push through them can only be described as a cat being strangled and we quickly discover the source of said noise.

Bella and Daisy are on the small stage, microphones in hand as they read lyrics off the small screen in the corner. Liv stands in the centre of the dancefloor, her hands cupped around her mouth, cheering them on as they butcher a Whitney Houston song and Savannah is next to her, her head thrown back in laughter as she holds a phone in the air recording them.

“Jesus fucking Christ,” Killian mutters.

All four of us freeze in the entryway as we scan the entire bar. It’s empty in here save from the few regulars seated around the bar or tucked away at a table in the corner. Every head is turned in the direction of the girls as they sing along to the song without a care in the world.

Almost like there’s an invisible magnet pulling me back to her, my eyes zero in on the back of Liv’s head before sliding down her body. Her tight black jeans hug the curve of her ass perfectly and I follow them down to where they disappear behind a bright red pair of cowboy boots. My cock twitches behind my zipper as images of her dressed in nothing but those boots assault me .

“Uh oh. The men have arrived,” Bella slurs into the microphone and my eyes snap up to Liv’s face as she turns towards us.

Holy fucking hell.

I suck in an audible breath as I take in her made up face. Her eyes are encased in dark eyeshadow that accentuates the blue, making them almost glow. I thought they were captivating before, but nothing could’ve prepared me for the sight of them now.

She takes measured steps towards me, her cheeks lifting with a sly grin and my eyes are drawn down to her lips. Sinful red lipstick to match her boots coat them and I swallow thickly as my dick stands at attention. My brothers move to meet them, but I stay rooted to the spot, my eyes trained in on her as she sashays towards me.

Something flutters in my chest as she nears. Her coconut smell mixed with a hint of tequila hits me first as she comes to a stop in front of me.

“This is supposed to be girls’ night,” she says, her eyes raking over me hungrily.

“Wasn’t my idea,” I respond, my voice full of gravel.

“And here I thought you were here to see me,” Liv tuts as she spins on her heel and struts back towards the others. My eyes fall to her ass as she goes, and I run a hand over my face with a quiet groan.

The entire interaction reminds me of the day Hunter met Savannah in this very bar and a disturbing realisation strikes me.

I’ve officially become my brother.
