Chapter 11

CHAPTER ELEVEN

MORGAN

"Let me show you."

Oh god.

She held onto his shoulders because that's all she could do.

Straddled across his lap, she felt so exposed already. Why not go the extra measure?

"Okay."

She should just find out right away like it had been with-

She shook her head.

She didn't want to bring 'him' into this.

She was right where she'd always wanted to be.

With Palmer.

He put his hands back on her hips and moved his hands down to her thighs. His hands were gentle and his movements were soothing.

His hands moved back up to her hips and up to her waist, moving up her sides until they were just below her breasts.

She sucked in a breath and his hands moved back down to her waist.

"Oh, I'm sorry."

He shook his head. "You didn't do anything wrong, Morgan."

"Okay. Okay," she nodded, "I'll relax." And then she sucked in a breath and held it in.

"God," he smiled, shaking his head, "I love you."

"You what?"

He didn't looked shocked at his words and he certainly didn't look like he wanted to take them back.

"I love you, Morgan Rafferty." His hands settled on her waist. "You and all of your energy and your worries. I love all of you." He gently rubbed his hands against her hips. "Will you let me show you how much?"

"Yes." She blurted out the word, smiling at him, her whole face lit up. "Yes." She looked around the room and then back at him. "Could we turn off the lights?"

He turned his head, but the only bulb that was on was the one behind them in the area between their bedroom doors at the bathroom.

Then he looked up at her, his eyes focusing on her face. "Do you trust me, Morgan?"

"I trust you," she told him, "I don't trust myself to deal with it... in the light."

"If it makes you more comfortable. Absolutely."

She could hear a tinge of something in his voice. “You don’t want to turn it off?”

He shook his head.

“I’ve thought about this for years,” she couldn’t believe she was telling him all of this. “Dreaming of what you’d look like.”

He watched her, quiet and patient.

“Leave the light on.”

Palmer nodded and instead of reaching for her shirt like she thought he would, he reached for her face.

He drew her down until their lips were scant inches apart.

“Let me love you, Morgan.”

“God, yes…”

She kissed him and he kissed back, hungry and eager.

She could have died in that moment alone and considered herself happy, but it only got better.

He stirred her desire with his lips and before she could pull her soul back into her body, it went drifting off again.

His hands were under her top.

His fingers skimming across the soft cotton of her bra.

And then his fingertips trailed over her nipples.

She took a breath into her lungs and that pressed her against his fingers. The pressure was incredible. The strength and gentleness in his fingers stole her breath away.

When his thumb caught on her nipple and released it, she groaned into his mouth.

“…feels so good…”

“Let me see you, Morgan. Let me touch you with nothing between us.”

At that moment she would have given him anything.

Everything.

“Morgan?”

“Yes… yes.”

He tugged at the hem of her top and lifted it. She helped by raising her arms so he could get it off of her. She released the closure on her bra between her breasts and saw the way that his gaze slowly lowered to her breasts from her face.

And then he was there, with his face at just about the perfect height to-

He leaned in and nuzzled his face against the side of her breast and then he looked up at her as he parted his lips and closed them over her nipple.

It was just a little pressure but it brought with it a keen sensation of pleasure. Her eyes closed and her hands gripped his head. His tongue moved over her sensitive skin, warm and languid.

“Oh god…”

She swore she could feel him smile and opened her eyes to look at him.

He seemed so intent on pleasuring her, his own eyes closed as his mouth worked to pleasure her.

She wanted him more than anyone she’d ever seen or known. She wanted to know if having him inside of her was going to be just as amazing as what his mouth on her skin felt like.

That question, coupled with the slight graze of his teeth against her now tender flesh, made her suck in a breath. Her thighs tried to clench together, but she was straddling his lap and it wasn’t helping.

“I don’t…I don’t know what to do.”

He pulled away from her breast and the sudden loss of his heat on her skin felt like anguish, but he looked up at her and she could see the tender heat in his eyes.

His hands reached up and he caught her breasts against his palm. “I bet your body knows much more than you think.”

She hoped she didn’t sound as silly as she was feeling. “I’m not sure…”

“Then hold onto me, Morgan. Let me show you how I plan to love you for the rest of our lives.”

She wanted to do that.

She wanted to give him that kind of control.

He leaned forward and drew her other nipple into his mouth, bathing her flesh with his tongue.

Morgan grabbed the back of his head and held him close. “Yes… more. I want to know what it feels like to have you inside me.”

He broke away again, looking up at her with eyes darkened by passion. “Oh, we’ll get there, Morgana.”

She heard her name in his voice and with the air teasing her breasts, slick from his mouth, she felt every inch a mythical seductress.

“I don’t want to wait.”

He smiled, shaking his head. “Let me make this easier for you. “Stand up.”

She put her hands back on his shoulders and found a way to stand up off his lap.

He didn’t waste time, reaching out he undid the zipper on her slacks and took her slacks and panties down with his hands.

On the way back up, he skimmed his palms on the outside of her legs, placing kisses on her thighs until his nose brushed against her curls.

“Oh…”

He stood up, crowding her, pulling his shirt off to drop it on the floor at their feet. Then he worked at his waistband, still standing there brushing his thighs against hers.

He dropped his pants down and before he could shed his boxer briefs, Morgan reached out and cupped his erection in her hand.

She moved her hand along his length, exploring.

“It feels incredible.”

Palmer let out a breath and moaned as her hand gripped him tighter.

He grabbed her hand and pulled it away from him. “Unless you want me to tumble you right here on this couch, Morgana, you need to keep your hands to yourself.”

She looked down at the couch. “Fine by me, I-”

“Come with me, Morgana.” He tugged her along behind him, and as soon as they were in his bed room, he drew her against him and kissed her breathless.

Lowering her down to the mattress under him.

He kissed her from head to toe and when he came back up, she felt him lift her legs up over his shoulders and before she could wrap her mind around what he could possibly be doing, she felt his mouth against her.

She tensed, shocked, but as soon as his tongue swept up between her folds, she stopped thinking all together.

Palmer teased her. He stirred her soul with his mouth and his hands, his eyes lifting to look at her as she stared at him, starstruck and wordless.

When his mouth closed over her clit, her back arched from the bed, but he anchored her with his arms around her legs and took her over the edge until she was panting and gripping the sheets in her hands, her body humming with pleasure.

“I had no idea…”

Palmer stood up and removed his boxer briefs, dropping them down to the floor while he kept his eyes focused on her face.

She held her hand out to him and he took hold of it, bringing it to his mouth to kiss her fingers.

Her hand dropped back to her chest as he knelt between her legs, his gaze dipping to look at her sex. “You’re so pretty all over, Morgana.”

She believed him. She heard it in his voice. She saw it on his face.

She felt it in his touch.

“Love me, Palmer. Please.”

He opened the drawer beside the bed and drew out a condom, a second falling on its surface. He tore it open with his teeth and slid the condom over his erection with one long sweep of his hand.

“I’ll love you over and over, as long as you want me.”

He braced one hand on the bed by her shoulder, his other hand dropping out of sight. It wasn’t until she felt the head of his cock press against her sex that she drew in a breath to steady her nerves.

“Palmer-”

“Breathe for me, Morgana. Breathe and give me a moment.” He drew in a breath and she saw the way his chest worked and the view mesmerized her.

So she breathed, but she also reached out her hands to touch his chest, watching as his muscles tensed under her touch.

“I never realized what a miracle a body is,” she told him.

Sweat broke out on his forehead as she felt him slip inside of her body. Just a little. Then a little more.

She felt the intrusion but instead of feeling odd or strange, it felt like he was a part of her.

A part of her body when he was already a part of her heart.

“I can’t believe this is happening.”

“I can’t believe you’re here with me.” His voice sounded rough, but the look on his face was sweet and gentle.

She took in a breath again and this time he took one along with her and when the air left her lungs she felt him fully seated inside of her.

Morgan locked eyes with him, and wrapped her arms around his neck, drawing him down so that she could place a gentle kiss on his lips.

“I’ve always wanted to be with you, Palmer. Make me yours.”

His gaze changed then.

A settled, purposeful look entered his eyes and as he shifted his body over her, he shifted his position inside of her.

Her indrawn breath and the emotions she could see deep inside his eyes made him feel even closer than he was already.

“I didn’t know,” she was nearly whispering in wonder, “that it could ever feel like this.”

“Does it feel good?” He asked her and she saw the flex of muscles along his back in the mirror on his wall. “Do I make you feel good, Morgana?”

“You make me feel like a woman, Palmer. You make me feel… loved.” The last word came out in a rush. She wasn’t sure that she should have said the word, but it was the only word that she felt was right.

“I do love you,” he groaned as he withdrew from her body.’

“Then,” she moved her hands down his back trying to bring him back into her body, “then why are you moving away?”

“I’m not leaving you. Not the way you think I am.” He shifted on the bed, grasping her body with both hands as he plunged back inside of her. “I needed to get deeper inside you.”

“Oh god,” she grabbed a hold of his shoulders, “do that again.”

There was still an edge in his expression, but a strange softness touched his lips as if he was holding back a secret.

She didn’t think she could take many more revelations in her current state of arousal.

And then he proved her wrong.

“As you wish.”

He stole her breath and gave her pleasure like she’d never imagined before.

RHETT

Waking up next to Morgan was surreal. She looked so relaxed in her sleep. So peaceful.

Rhett reached out and traced his fingertips across her cheek and felt her move.

She didn’t wake up, but she snuggled closer to him.

He felt his heart swell in his chest and knew that he’d been right.

He loved her.

He had no idea when it had happened, but he knew he felt it. Had never felt it before like he did now.

She reached out her hand and he sucked in a breath when she laid her palm against his chest.

“Morning, Palmer.”

“You’re awake.” He smiled at her.

“I think I’m still dreaming.” She moved her hand across his chest and slowly opened her eyes. “You feel like heaven.”

“Stop reading my mind,” he smiled at her. “I didn’t ask you what time you needed to get up for school.”

She looked past his shoulder at the light coming through the window. “Soon.”

He chuckled softly. “I know you’re not a morning person.”

“That is true.”

“But this is the first time I’ve gotten to see you wake up.”

She gave him a hesitant smile. “Scared yet?”

“Hardly.” He gave her a look that had her shivering. “I’m wondering if you want me to make you breakfast while you get ready for work.”

Rhett sat up and she looked at the clock on his bedside table.

“If I wasn’t already a little worn out, I’d tell you that I’d rather stay here in bed for a little while longer. But I think I better shower and hope you make me a coffee strong enough to carry itself to the table.”

He leaned in and kissed her well enough to leave her staring at him when he got out of bed.

“Go on,” he told her, “get moving into that shower before I have to carry you in there.”

She threw back the covers and mock-glared at him. “Not exactly a threat.”

She stood up and he was the one staring.

They’d both dressed before falling asleep, but seeing her in that same pastel pink tank and panty set made his mouth water and his dick stand up at attention.

Rhett wasn’t sure that she’d noticed how she’d affected him, but as she moved past him in the doorway, she gave him a pat on his bare chest.

“Later, handsome. I’ve got teenagers to wrangle.”

He shook his head, smiling. Something he was doing a lot now that he had Morgan in his life.

MORGAN

It was hard to put a smile on her face today. After she’d checked in at the office, she’d been told that Benji’s parents were going to keep him home for a few days.

It had been unreasonable for her to think that he’d be back to school the next day.

Still, she’d been hoping for some good news.

When she’d offered to take him his schoolwork, she found out that his mother didn’t want any contact at all until they’d made a decision of whether or not they’d send him back to school at all.

So she’d spent her lunch looking through the school accident reports wondering how he’d gotten hurt.

No, he hadn’t said exactly how he’d been hurt, but she had a feeling that it was on campus.

“Miss Rafferty, are you looking for extra work?”

She lifted her head and looked at Officer Munder standing in the office doorway.

“No,” she dropped her gaze back down to the open binder on the table, “I’m just trying to get to the bottom of something.”

“Is there something I can help you with?” She heard his footsteps across the floor. It was hard to miss because he polished his boots so much they squeaked a little as he moved.

She turned the next page and looked for Benji’s name on the reports.

Nothing.

“If it’s a question about an accident or an injury on campus, I can assure you that I know about it.”

She wanted to ask him but there was something that bothered her about the interaction she’d seen between the officer and Benji that day outside her classroom.

She didn’t quite like the feel of it.

“No, no thanks. I just wanted to look up a few things.”

“Like…”

She knew she had to give him an answer.

A good one.

“We did a civics lesson in my class and the students were talking about rules at the school. Like running in the halls.”

He leaned heavily against the table. “So you’re looking to see who got hurt from running in the halls?”

Yeah, he didn’t sound like he believed her.

“Education, Officer Munder, doesn’t always make sense, it just is.”

“Right.”

He tapped his fingertips against the table and when she glanced toward his hand, she saw his holstered gun.

“I want you to feel like you can come to me if you need anything.”

She looked up at him and couldn’t muster up a smile.

“Thank you. I… I will.”

As he walked out of the room she couldn’t help but feel… uneasy.

She’d never lied to a police officer before, but she just couldn’t see herself going to officer Munder with anything. Every time she saw him, she wanted to walk or run in the opposite direction, but on the campus where she worked, there was just so much open ground that she didn’t think she could hide from him, so she was forced to hold her feelings back and get back to work.

There had to be something in the records that would explain what had happened to Benji.

If he wasn’t going to be able to tell her, then she’d have to find out a way to discover it on her own.

She knew she might be overstepping the parameters of her job, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that Benji needed her to keep digging.
