Epilogue

Bella

Eight months later…

Snowflakes dance outside the window, swirling in slow, lazy circles as morning light filters through the glass. A fire crackles in the hearth. It’s the kind of peaceful winter morning that used to exist only in my books.

Until Mason.

I sip my coffee, tucked into a corner of the couch with a blanket wrapped around my legs and a textbook balanced on my knees. I’m halfway through a chapter when a low, familiar groan comes from the hallway.

My husband appears shirtless, his hair a mess, and his sweatpants slung low on his hips.

That broad chest still makes me breathless every time I see it. I take a moment to admire all the dips and swells of those amazing abs. He’s kept in shape, both through hard work and time at the gym.

He’s in talks with Caleb and a man named Derek to open a branch of their security business up here, since so many of them live here, anyway.

“Coffee?” he mumbles.

“Already made. I even fed your beast.”

On cue, Nitro lifts his head from his plaid dog bed, tail thumping once in contentment, before falling back asleep. He loves the cozy warmth of the cabin as much as we do.

Mason pours a cup of coffee and sets it on the coffee table. He tugs the blanket away, then crawls behind me, pulling me back against his chest. He arranges the blanket over us and sighs in contentment.

“I missed you in bed.”

“You were sleeping peacefully, and I needed to study.”

He presses his cheek to the top of my head. “I like it better here, anyway.”

“You’d rather be here than in bed?”

He slides his palms beneath my shirt, trailing them up to cover my breasts. “Mmm… I’d rather be in you. Here, the bed… in the shower as I fuck you against the wall.”

“That does sound better. More options.”

He chuckles, thumbs finding my nipples.

Heat curls low in my belly.

“You almost done with school?” he asks.

“Two weeks left. I’ll finish in time for Christmas.”

“In that case, I think you need a break from all this studying.”

He tosses my textbook on the floor, then whips my shirt over my head. Chilly air makes my skin pebble.

“Hey, it’s cold in here.”

“Then let me warm you up.” Mason wraps his lips around my nipple building the heat in my body.

I comb my fingers through his hair. We rescued each other that day in the woods.

I started out lost, but I found myself, and my home, in Mason.

Cuddled up together like this, life couldn’t be more perfect.

Thank you for reading Mason and Bella's story! I hope you loved watching these two fall hard and find healing in each other. Those grumpy mountain men are my weakness! *
